Welcome to Saturday's Critters !
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I am sharing some more of my yard birds. The White-breasted Nuthatch, Red-breasted Nuthatch, female and male Pine Warblers.
One of a few Pine Siskins that visit my deck and feeders.
White-throated Sparrow perched in a bush, maybe hiding from the hawk.
Male Cardinal is always banging against this window.
I wanted to share my views from my deck of the Great Blue Heron rookery in our neighborhood. The herons are in the tall pine trees in larger left photo. You can barely see a heron with it's back toward the camera, it is just under the letter "G" were I typed "GB Heron" in the photo. On the two right side photos I was able to zoom in closer to the heron and nest.
We have had a day of heavy rain and winds, I hope the Great Blue Herons and their nest are doing OK.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.
Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Despite having seen them many times with my own eyes, it never fails to amaze and impress me that such gangly, ungainly birds as herons actually nest in branches! A delight as always to see your feathered pals! YAM xx
Hopefully when the Heron has chicks and they are big enough you will be able to see them better then. Love the Red Cardinal bird. Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend
These are pretty birds. We have the common sparrows here and some of them visit my garden but they are too quick for my camera. Thank you for hosting and have a great weekend!
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful photos and collages of the birds.
You live in a beautiful area, I think you live in the woods.
Do you want to place my link, I can't.
Best regards, Irma
How cute!
As you know, my preference goes to the Nuthatch...
Happy weekend with your feathered friends!
I want a back yard like yours! The Pine Siskin photo really captures the beauty of its yellow highlights. In most of my photos from Texas and New Mexico it is not even visible. Pine Warblers are among my favorites, but we saw very few this winter, quite unusual.
Hello,
They are all so lovely. I love them all. Beautiful images.
Happy Weekend!
You certainly have a view from your back deck that we all envy!
Hello Eileen! Wonderful photos and wonderful birds! The White-breasted Nuthatch looks so beautiful.
Have a happy weekend!
You always share such beautiful photos! We frequently see nuthatches, warblers and siskins in our yard. Thank you for hosting this fun party! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Hi, I think your nuthatch has a very pretty face. The birs seen more stocky then ours. And your blue heron always make me think of our grey one :)
Have a nice week ahead. :)
Beautiful birds Eileen. Your photos are always lovely. Thank you for sharing them and have a great weekend.
Beautiful photos, Eileen. Your mornings must sound incredible with all those birds around. It's nice to be able to wake up to the birds chirping away to each other.
Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks Irma! Yes we have woods all around our house and the lake is just a walk away. Enjoy your day!
The warblers are so beautiful! We don't have cardinals here, and I'm dying to see one.
You have a wonderful collection here again. Thanks for hosting! Have a great weekend!
...I always enjoy a little splash of red, have a great day!
What a wonderful collection of birds you have visiting you. You're so lucky.
God bless.
Delightful selection of birds, as usual, Eileen. The red cardinal is a magnificent bird and one we don't have here in Australia, so it's a treat seeing it in your photos.
Lovely birds pics.
Greetings.
PS: Thank you for hosting!
Your photos are inspiring! I really must amble down to our rookery and see if they are back. I drive by one. Mind you, our lakes are still frozen! Thanks for hosting.
That Pine Warbler is a pretty one too!
Hi Eileen, I love seeing your warblers, We don't get them in our area but the Free State (where I came from) had a wide selection. As Jenn says, your photos are inspiring. I make a special effort when I've read your posts. Thanks for hosting this meme. Have a great weekend. Jo
Hi Margaret, when the leaves come back on the trees it will be harder to see the herons and chicks. We will see them once they start moving around. Thanks for the comment, enjoy your day!
It's so nice to keep those feeders filled for the yard birds. We have a BIG flock of Goldfinches eating us out of house and home right now...but we love it! The little Pine Siskin sure has some pretty color! Happy weekend!
Blue Herons - always a favorite of mine.
How fortunate to have a GBH nesting near you! Beautiful photo of the warbler!
Love the warblers! I'm always amused by the nuthatch's upside down eating habits. I put out a suet block, but none of the birds around here touch it. It was the same last summer. :(
That little spark of red!
WoW!!! i would love that view from my deck, see those herons in that way, every day, is just amazing!!
i always enjoy seeing the pine warblers. a bird you see frequently, that i never see!! beautiful captures this week, i also really enjoyed the capture of the cardinal!!!
Nuthatches are interesting visitors as they appear at the feeder in a flash.
Sorry to hear about your bad weather Eileen. Like you, I hope that the herons are able to escape the worst of it all. Your yard and deck look great spots from where to spend a many a happy hour. Here's wishing you a better day tomorrow.
You have wonderful birds in your yard. Have a great weekend!
Good morning Eileen, I still can't get over how incredible it is that you have a heron right in your own yard. Lucky you. Luckily so far our weather has been good and our birds our returning here too. Enjoy your weekend.
I counted 30 nests at one rookery I watch.I like the Nuthatches, they remind me of little clowns the way they flit around. I caught the same one 3 years in a row banding birds. If you lay them on their backs when you release them they just hold still.
Lovely bird shots. I see the Heron. I am not participating today---maybe later

Hi Eileen, Enjoyed all the bird photos, especially the Great Blue Herons. That is just so neat that you have a rookery in your neighborhood. Thank you, as always, for sharing and hosting Saturday's Critters. Have a happy Saturday and remainder of the weekend. John
Wow ! Wonderful photos of your 'yard birds' ~ such variety ~ you must have a good 'feathered friends' menu and so nice you don't have to go far to get great photos! thanks!
Happy Days to you,

I would love to have a view like that, with or without the heron. great job on the zoom to show us how pretty he is
You are very lucky to have that wonderful array of birds so close and who wouldn't love a cardinal against their window. Do you ever put something in the window so it won't bump into it, my uncle did that because so many birds were crashing against his and living so close to the arboretum he got all sorts.
I was lucky to see some herons this week and was surprised because I usually don't see them until early May.
You don't have to go far to do some birdwatching! Thanks for hosting us, Eileen!
Pine Warbler is my favourite, fantastic Eileen.
What beauties!
What a brilliant photo of the heron in the rookery. How I wish I could see one like that!
I love this post. Great variety again.
I haven’t been fast enough to take a photo of a nuthatch this year .
'Male Cardinal' picture is my favourite.
Thank you for hosting.
Very nice !
So many wonderful pictures of all the different birds right in your yard.
It's a great habitat you have there for all sorts of birds!1
Heron rookeries are indeed wonderful! We visited one recently near Fairfax, VA, where there is also an eagle's nest. Somehow the two species seem to tolerate each other. I like your bird feeder photos too. Do you have to fight the squirrels? Or do you just let them chow down on birdseed?
best.... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I don't have any pine warblers. I see they eat suet. Well, perhaps I need more pine trees.
Wow...so many beauties in your yard! I had to laugh when I read about the cardinal at the window.
Thanks so much for sharing your photos and adding a great narrative for all of us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin'
Hi Jeanna, I have these decals on the windows. But the Cardinal seems to ignore them. I have to find something else, before he hurts himself. It is great to see the herons returning. Thanks for the visit. Enjoy your day!
Hello Mae, I would have to stand outside most of the day to chase the squirrels away. They are piggies and can empty my feeders quickly. Thanks for the visit, enjoy your day!
I have a special fondness for the humble sparrow.

lovely selection of birds
I LOVE #6 and #7! Great photos.
I love LOVE the Red-breasted Nuthatch and we have had two all Winter. I have not been out in the garden for a couple of days, but I am hoping they are still visiting. It got cold today and so they might still be eating their selected seed. Have a wonderful week my friend~
You have such a wonderful selection of birds here, your photographs are lovely to see and I like the collages too.
Enjoy the new month ahead, I can't believe we are so close to April.
All the best Jan
You have such wonderful deck birds. It is so amazing to see the GBH nesting on branches that don’t look as if they could support one f those big birds, let alone a whole family! Thank you for sharing and for hosting.
