Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
These images are from my archives, from when we lived in Florida from Oct 2016-March 2017. During this time hubby and I visited many Florida parks and were able to see many different species of wild birds. The Burrowing Owls seen in Cape Coral Florida was one of my favorite bird sightings. I love owls.
1. This Burrowing Owl looking serious or giving me the evil eye. I was not close to any of the birds, my camera has good zoom.
2. Burrowing Owls spend most of their time on the ground, the burrows where they roost and nest are just holes in the ground are located in open habitat.
3. The Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral Florida must be used to people and dogs, their nests are close to a neighborhood ball field.
4. Peeping out of the burrow, a cute Burrowing Owl.
5. Two Burrowing Owls are watching something.
6. The Burrowing Owl is so cute, one of my many favorite birds.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Some very nice photos. How exciting to actually see them in person. I'm surprised they have accustomed themselves to people that close.
They ae so cute but also I never realised they were as small Eileen. Thanks for hosting, take care and have a lovely week ahead. I am now on holidays
Burrowing Owl is so cute. Much like the Spotted Owlet we find here. Beautiful photos!
Yes, the Burrowing Owl is so cute. I learned something new today about Burrowing Owls have their nests in the ground. Yes, I can see why you said that the owl gave you the evil eye in the first picture. Lol! Thank you, Eileen for hosting. Happy weekend.
These are adorable, thank you!
Love the wee face just popping out of his home.

Hello Eileen,
The Burrowing Owl is very beautiful, and it is very cute too.
Take care, and have a happy weekend!
Long time since I saw Burrowing Owls, but they are very appealing. If I get lucky today I have my fingers crossed for a Saw-whet Owl.
Your North American Burrowing Owl is very much like our Little Owl except that the burrowing requires longer legs. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the link Eileen.
I love the Burrowing Owl, it's a beauty. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for hosting.
Great photos of these beautiful creatures, Eileen!
PS: Thank you for hosting, Eileen. Your efforts are appreciated!
not only have I never seen these beautiful, oh so gorgeous and adorable owls, I did not guess these live in Florida. now I am wondering if we have them here. super shots of all of them and its hard to believe they just sat there with dogs on the ground.. love the post today.. all new to me
I love owls, too, but Burrowing Owl is new to me. They are so lovely. Now I understand why they are called Burrowing Owl in English from the image of the one nesting in the burrow. It looks like in meditation.

They are amazing, so close to humans. Our owls are so quick to flee!

Hello Eileen, Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful Burrowing Owls. I too love Owls. All your photos of them are superb. They remind me a little of the Little Owl. The image of the one with just the head above ground is so cute It's amazing how close they are to dogs and people walking by.

...another interesting owl that I have never seen. Thanks for sharing Eileen, take care and stay well.
Haha … that is a curious look the bird is giving you. This type of owl is rarely seen in my neck of the woods. Apparently with their relatively long legs, they are quite the runners as well as flyers. How wonderful to have both abilities! :)
What beautiful captures! I’ve never seen an owl myself! I laughed out loud at the one with its head out of the hole. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Tom!
The owls are a treat to see.
Have a happy weekend!

Thank you Jeanie! I loved all your Owl photos, great post.

Great captures and they definitely look like they are giving you the stink eye! Have a great weekend Eileen. :)
Those owls look so cute!
I don't think I have ever seen a live burrowing owl. How amazing that they live in holes out in such an open and exposed environment. I just think about all the various kinds of animals there are and how they have adapted in such amazing ways to find shelter. They have such a striking appearance.
Thank you for hosting!!
the burrowing owls are both beautiful and adorable, with such incredible eyes!! i have heard of this owl, but never seen them in their natural habitat!!
have a wonderful weekend eileen, and many thanks for hosting!!
I saw these owls (cousins probably) in Riverview FL (near Tampa) a few years back. They do like sandy soil! And they nested right next to a road/sidewalk and playground area. Didn't seem to bother them, so we got to see them!
The burrowing owls in Cape Coral are also some of my favorite birding choices. We saw them at around the same time you did. I would love to go back.
Thanks for all the comments you have left on my blog posts!

I love the evil eye you got from that owl. Years ago, my boyfreind at the time and I used to venture out into the woods at dusk to watch the owls hunt. It was very special, interesting and unforgettable.
Oh, how lovely, dear Eileen! I didn't know there were owls that nest in burrows on the ground! So far I've only known owls that nest in trees... Your owl photos are all wonderful!
All the best,
Traude

This was so awesome, I knew that burrowing owls were in FL but when I was there I never saw any I should of checked the Ball Fields! I have seen them in the west. I didn't know you lived in Florida, its very nice down there February is the time to be there for sure. Hope your weekend is a good one and no more snow this winter!!
They are SO precious! That's something I've never seen here in FL...something to look forward to! They have such personality! Enjoy your weekend.
Burrowing owls are alarmingly scarce here.
PS: You asked me "Your sweet kitty does not mind walking around in the cold snow?" - She dosn't really like ist, but she loves to visit our neigbours - that's why she goes to them in all weathers ;-)

Those owls are beautiful.
Very cute burrowing owl! Wasn't there a kid's movie made about one where the kids were trying to stop a development to save it? Can't recall the title but seems like that was the type of owl. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!
Hello Eileen
There is something cute about owls ...
I did enjoy seeing your photographs of the Burrowing Owl.
Happy weekend wishes to you.
All the best Jan
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a burrowing owl. How interesting!!
The Burrowing Owls area also one of my favorites. I probably visited the same burrows as you did in Cape Coral. We also had them near our home in southeast Florida. I saw my first one when i was drafted and assigned to El Paso, Texas.
Hello Eileen, oh my goodness they are such a delight and your captures are perfect. I totally agree it does look like the evil eye, but they have their precious moments too, like when they're burrowing how darling is that?! Thanks for sharing them with us, they are something interesting. Enjoy your weekend.

Hello Traude,
Thank you for sharing another post, I enjoyed your Florence photos.
Take care, enjoy your week!
The owls told me to tell you to come back to see them again soon! (Actually I haven't seen any yet this season, but am sure we will!) I have three different burrowing owl pictures on my "photo wall" -- they are my favorites also.
Love the Owls..great shots!!Have a happy week..
I really love the Burrowing Owls! I've been watching an "Owl Cam" in Georgia of a Horned Owl that's sitting on an egg. I'm not sure when it's due to hatch, but it's fun to check in on her, and there are also a few other bird-cams too that I have enjoyed peaking in as well.
I hope you have a good week - Warmer temps for us, which is a welcome change!
They would about have to be one of, if not the cutest bird imaginable.
Thank Sallie! I would be happy to see these cute little owls again.
Have a happy day and a great new week!

That's so cool to see the owls aren't disturbed by anyone or a thing. First time seeing birds nest in the ground, and these owls look friendly and cautious at the same. Lovely capture on the owls.
