Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Our weather has been all over the place, the temperatures can drastically change. It is officially Spring, even though it does not always feel like it.
1. On March 8th our high temperature for the day was in the 70's, the bull frog sounds were all over our yard and at the neighbors. We found at least 6 of these frogs in our little pond. The next day our temperature was back down to a high in 40's.
2. March 8th photos continue, more frogs and their eggs.
3. March 8th, after walking around the yard we took the grand-dogs for a 2 mile round trip walk on the fire road.
4. While walking on the fire-road I could hear the Pine Warblers calling. It is nice to hear them again, in my yard I also heard my first of the season Eastern Phoebe.
5. March 9th our temperatures dropped and we had some snow. I am not sure what happened to the frogs and their eggs in our pond. Can they handle freezing temperatures. I hope they survived. I happened to notice this Hawk sitting in a tree between our yard and the neighbors yard. I wonder if the hawk was eating frogs.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!
Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

I hope the frogs are surviving. There are many rumors of terrible frog extinctions. Nice photos, and thank you for hosting Saturday's Critters. I had several bird posts this week as I was birding in your area, but now I'm home again.
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Your two grand-dogs were for sure having some fun!
The sound of the frogs can be very noisy. Hope the frogs and eggs survived the cold temperature and also not ended up as food the for hawk and other birds. I am sure your grand-dogs enjoyed the walk on the fire road. Thank you for hosting. Happy weekend.
Helloo, Hope you are doing well. Another beautiful post Loved all pics.
Happy Weekend. Stay Well.
Frogs waiting for the princess to hop along! :)
that is a great photograph of the Frogs in the 1st shot Eileen. Looks like there will be many more frogs in the future in your pond! Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend.
Quanta coisa conseguem ver nos passeios por aí! Até os sapos? E os cachorrinhos sempre parceiros! Ótimo fim de semana! beijos, chica
Hello Eileen,
I guess you live in a much warmer place than here where I live. It is lovely to watch the small bullfrogs, and they are so cute. Take care, and have a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen,
Great series of photos showing you from your walk.
Very special the frogs in the pond, I see many new frogs will be added soon.
I really like the hawk and hermit thrush.
Would you mind posting my link??
Greetings Irma
nice to see the frogs. I have not seen a frog in many years now. Eggs I have not seen since, at least 30 years. It´s a pitty really. :( I´m not sure if they canhandle freezing temperatures.
You are soo lucky to have both hawk and trush in your garden.
Take care!
Funny to see the frogs in your pond. I saw one here dead along the ski slope: he woke up too early from hybernation.
The Hawk looks quite in search of food, really.
Happy weekend and keep safe!
Hello Eileen,:=) Our weather is up and down like yours, the only difference being we don't get snow, but we get a warm sunny day one day, and cold days with very unpleasant westerly winds and rain, the next. I hope the frogs in your pond survived. The Red-shouldered Hawk was a good sighting, and I like your mosaics.Having bushes near windows is certainly a sure bet to see birds perched there, and the Hermit Thrush is proof of this, and your capture is lovely. Nice to see your Grand-dogs on the Fire road again. Two miles is a good work out for them. Lovely post Eileen, and many thanks for hosting.
I love those frogs, swimming so relaxed on their back!
...here, it hasn't warmed up enough for frogs! Thanks Eileen for sharing things to come, take care and stay well.
Good to hear that you have Eastern Phoebe and Hermit Thrush. Won't be long before they show up here, and the days are slowly warming now.
The hermit thrush looks cute! The weather seems unstable there, and perhaps it is in the middle of the season's change. This is the first time I've taken a closer look at frog eggs. Have a great weekend.
These photos are beautiful and shows me how we can admire the nature in different way. Well, even I have seen frogs before I never thought of looking at them carefully. But, these pictures reminded me that they are also part of our nature. It's interesting to see the hawks and lovely dogs as well.
Have a great weekend!
Those look like wood frogs! Our frog pond is still frozen, but the wood frogs are usually the first to wake up. I love the thrush. Thanks for hosting! It is so good to see the critters arise!
That Red-shouldered Hawk is very happy to resume its usual diet of reptiles and amphibians, much easier than chasing after birds. Our weather has also had its ups and downs here in Connecticut. Will look forward to hearing and seeing some warblers-- so far none have been present.
Thank you for your visit and comment.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you Mae! I hope you enjoyed the birding in my area.

Frogs couldn’t survive in the water here yet. The dogs are great company I bet. I haven’t seen a Red-shouldered Hawk. It’s not missing much I bet.
Desde que era pequeña, no veo esos anfibios en su ambiente natural.
Bonitas fotograías.
I loved the Frogs, busy making other baby frogs, and the Hermit Thrush, fantastic. Yes, walking the dogs, the grand-dogs. ha ha.
Thank you Nick! I hope the frogs survived, our weather is crazy.
Have a great day and happy new week!
Thank you Bill! The dogs do enjoy their walks.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
That’s quite a swing in weather temperatures. I hope the eggs survived. I read this online: “Frogspawn can usually cope with a bit of cold weather, if a pond freezes, often the top layer of spawn closest to the surface will freeze but below the surface it will survive."
the hermit thrush is adorable, so cute. your granddogs look so happy, as I would be on that fireroad. I don't think I could walk 2 miles, and neither could Bob or Beau.. we have to keep our walks to 20 to 30 minutes..we need practice I think.
I love hearing the frogs! And the Hermit Frog is such a beautiful bird....I mean Thrush! I went ahead and left what I wrote because I'm still laughing too hard to change it! hahahaha! Spring is a fun time of year for seeing different birds. Enjoy your weekend!
those bull frogs look so funny and so cute at the same time!! we have had very similar weather with freezing temperatures coming for the next few days!!
spring sounds are in the air here too...all of our birds are returning. gorgeous capture of the hermit thrush just outside your window!! have a great weekend eileen and many thanks for hosting!!!
That first frog image is especially great. Love seeing the dogs! Happy weekend!
It's a thrill to see birds returning in the spring.
Birds and frogs and dogs - all great critter photos!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh love the frog photos and the little thrush and the hawk and especially your grand dogs ~ Xo
Wishing you laughter and love in your days,

Good morning Eileen it's such a hopeful sign seeing your sweet little swimmers enjoying life and lucky you temperatures in the 70's we haven't been that lucky and right now it's a blustery 19 degrees but our sun is finally shining. Those trees will be changing soon enough on your fire road and I'm excited for that around here too. Enjoy your weekend, I hope you have better spring like weather.
Your temperatures and associated weather seem all over the place Eileen. It's good you have the fire roads as an amenity and to provide at least some shelter from unexpected snowfalls and cold winds. We have just warmed up this week but don't expect it to last.
I love the frog pics, swimming just like I used to do! Have a great Sunday and thanks for the picture party.
Thanks again Nick! Wishing you a great new week!

We have been hearing frogs here. A fun sign of Spring. Great shots of the frogs. Those doggies are getting some good walks in. I'm still waiting to spot an owl in the wild!! Happy Saturday to you.
Curiosas fotos de las ranas. Me encanta la foto del zorzal.
Buen fin de semana Eileen.
Un abrazo.
Thank you Maria! I hope the frogspawn can cope we are having some cold winter weather again.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you Sandra! Hubby and I take the grand-dogs for walk ranging from 1-2 miles.
At least you are out walking, even a little bit is better than none at all.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you Diane! I like the name Hermit Frog, I am sure the Thrush doesn't mind.
Take care, have a happy weekend.

Thanks Debbie! Weather does not want to leave just yet, we are expecting a few cold and windy days ahead.

Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you Cloudia! I am happy to see you sharing your post.
Happy weekend to you!
I've kind of wondered myself what frogs and other critters do when the temperature plunges after a warm spell in the spring.
Love the views of the hawks and the other birds. Glad you can take your granddogs on walks. Our dogs are elderly and can only go for a mile when the weather is cool. But they love it.
Thank you for hosting!!
The dogs must be having a grand time with you. The poor frogs are hating this weather like the rest of us are. Thanks for hosting us and for all your nice comments, Eileen.
Hi Eileen
I loved seeing the frogs swimming so gleefully in the water! Spring weather is finally coming our way for a few days this week and then ...more snow!
Thank you Alan! I was hoping it would stay warm but we are expecting some freezing temps the next couple of days.
The dogs do love going on their walks. It is good exercise for us too.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you RedPat! I hope to think the dogs are having a grand time. The poor frogs must be confused, below freezing temps now at night and early morning. Take care, have a happy weekend.
Thank you Pat! We may have to wait a few weeks for the real Spring to step forward.
Take care, have a happy weekend.
The frogs are sooo cool....I enjoyed seeing your Snowy hawk and glad your summer visitors are arriving. Enjoy your first full of Spring!!
I liked seeing the frogs. Snowing like crazy here right now!
That hawk is quite a sight
Dear Eileen,
oh, the freak weather! I hope the little frogs survived and their brood too! That looks like a nice walk with your granddogs! Beautiful bird sightings also from the Hawk and the Hermit Thrush.
Hugs and happy weekend, Traude

The doggies are soooo cute!
Good shot with the eggs. I'm not sure I've seen them in real life - we used to get tadpoles as a kid tho...
I heard the spring peepers about a week or so ago...always so good to hear them. I stopped at this one mini-pond and looked and looked from the road but could not see a single frog. I hope yours survive...if you remember, let us know. I bet the granddogs love the walks you two take them on!
Don't frogs go into a suspended animation in freezing weather? I imagination they survive in the 40s.
I bet your grand dogs find the anticipation of walking a highlight of their day!!
Great bird sightings. As always.
Thanks for taking time to share these with us!!
Thank you Sondra! I think the frogs are cool too, I hope they survive the cold weather.
Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.

Dear Eileen, how neat are your images of the frogs in your pond. I love seeing your grand-dogs every week as well. Thank you for sharing. Apologies: I only have one critter to share: Skabby after his parlor clipping and grooming. Have a great Sunday. Jo

Hello Eileen
Your weather temperatures are all over the place aren't they.
However, it certainly means you've provided us with a wonderful collection of photographs.
I enjoyed them all, thank you.
Have a great new week.
All the best Jan
Nice shots of the swimming frogs! I’ve heard the singing of Bush Warbler which tells arrival of spring in my part of the world, though winter and spring are racing so far. Having Hermit Thrush so close to your window is perfectly lovely. Have a nice week.
Yoko
Thank you Jan!
I hope the warm weather comes back soon, it's cold out there.
Have a great weekend!
Thank you Yoko!
I am looking forward to the spring birds returning here soon.
Take care, have a happy new week!
Reminded me of my childhood where I used to always wonder how the frogs laid their eggs on the leaves hanging above the pond.
Nice froggy pictures -- they are a sign of spring! I think they might survive. Our daughter always finds them in her ponds as soon as the weather warms up ... and memorably, once in their hot tub! (Though there aren't as many freezing days in Oregon as you have probably).
Thank you for the visit and comment!
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
Thank you Sallie! We are having some freezing temps now.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
Dearest Eileen; Loved to be able to see the *Hermit Thrush* in your picture. Eastern Phoebe looks rally handsome. Lovely see your two doggy and surprised to see the snow as in our area we can see cherry blossom started blooming beautifully. So sorry for my late commenting again.
Having trouble with my husband's high blood pressure occurring sometime ; but his symptom getting better soon each time p;-)
Lots of Love from Japan; Miyako
I have always had a soft spot for frogs they look so cute swimming so I would be happy to find them in my pond but not my hot tub (smiling at Sallie's comment above!)
Have a lovely week
Wren x
Thank you Miyako, I appreciate your link and comment.
I hope your hubby is back to normal soon.
Take care, have a great day !
Thank you Wren! I would not want to be in a hot tub with a frog either, lol.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Hi Eileen! ☺ Oh the dogs are just so cute!!! ☺☺ Great photos of the frogs too!
