Saturday's Critters # 454

  Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

We are still dog-sitting, waiting for my son to have his fence installed. So we continue to take the grand-dogs for a daily walk, on the local fire roads and to the lake.

1. Aug 4, I took some photos of our flowers, Morning Glories, Hibiscus,  Fuchsia, Winnie the Corgi, a mushroom seen off the fire road and our Zinnias.

2.  Aug 8th, our walk to the lake with the dogs, our neighbor's flowers, the fire road, one of two Great Blue Herons, wildflowers, the grand-dogs, Louisiana Waterthrush, unknown Flycatcher.

3. This is one of the two Great Blue Herons we saw at the lake. I also heard the Pileated Woodpecker and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo on this walk.

4. Aug 10,  before leaving our yard I heard and found this Yellow-billed Cuckoo perched high in a tree next to our yard. Winnie and Nibbles are still enjoying their walks on the fire road, we are seeing some mushrooms and fungi and the bunny was seen in our yard when we returned from the walk.

5. The Yellow-billed Cuckoo seen from our deck, I hear them often but this was the first time seeing them next to our yard.

6. Aug 10th, I enjoy watching the butterflies around our Buddleia Bush, I captured some of the Black Swallowtails.

I read the male Black Swallowtail has more yellow and less blue on the wings.

7. Aug 14th, hubby and I took a walk at the local Hashawha Nature Center park.  I was only able to get a few bird photos, the flowers were looking lovely. A nice weather day for a walk.

8. Aug 14th,  We saw a family of Eastern Bluebirds high in a tree eating berries.

9. Aug 14th , an American Robin

10. Aug 14, a White-breasted Nuthatch.

11. A bonus mosaic with our grandsons, they are growing fast. I think they both love their new home. I am sure they will be happy to get their fence built and have their dogs at home with them again. Soon, I hope!

I hope you enjoyed my post. Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Your grandsons are so cute. Are they near you? Lovely photos from your walk. I hear birds in our gardens but I'm not quick enough to capture the little honey eaters.

I'm envious of your YB Cuckoo sighting. I heard only one and was able to find it high in a tree, but never could get a clear view. Really missed the butterflies I had expected to see here in our new home in Connecticut. Compared to Florida, there is less diversity and fewer numbers of birds and butterflies.

eileeninmd said...

Thank you Ken! I hear the Cuckoo all the time in my neighborhood, they are breeders in this area. Florida did have some beautiful butterflies, ones that I do not see here. Have a great weekend.

Good morning Eileen, what a gorgeous day! There's nothing wrong with keeping those pups a bit longer, I know they're having a blast and we love to see them on your adventures. What a great source of nature you've displayed today from incredible blossoms and wee little critters, butterflies that just make you smile. I am so happy we're in the season of all this bounty. Enjoy your day and adventures this weekend too. take care.

Dear Eileen,
did I interpret the swallowtail photos correctly? I think they were working on offspring, how nice! :-D
I was also very happy about the photo of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I also hear cuckoo calls in spring in our wood, but I've only seen one once and didn't manage to photograph the bird.
Otherwise I see a lot of beautiful nature in this post!
Your grandsons are growing really fast - and they look so cheerful :-D I am curious how long the granddogs will live with you (and whether you will miss the walks with them afterwards... ;-))
Happy weekend and all the best from Austria

Your grandson looks so much like a Swedish kid. My favorite pictures were that one and the one of the butterflies. I've never seen a black butterfly, so beautiful.

Your heron is lovely and it's good to see the corgis again -- but the winner here is those two little ones at the end! They're cute to the max!

Beautiful photos of the bird life and nature. Your grandchildren are so cute too! Your garden looks amazing. Mine is past it's prime and looks ragged right now. I guess it's okay because most of our summer has passed. By the end of August there is usually a noticeably dip in the temperature. Enjoy the weekend.

Dear Eileen I do hope you get my comment this time, as I tried twice yesterday and both my comments disappeared Your garden flowers look beautiful, and also the wild flowers you see on your walks. You always see a lot of different species of birds. I hear a cuckoo, but I have yet to see one. Nice shots of the Yellow -billed Cuckoo, the White breasted Nuthatch, and the Blue birds, and all the beautiful Swallow-tailed butterflies. The best shots of course are of your cute looking grandchildren. :=)
