"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." John Muir
I am sharing a mish-mash of photos, from our walks and my back yard and some from my archives and travels.
Click on images for better viewing.
1. Two of my common back yard birds, the Dark-eyed Junco and the Carolina Wren.
2. Mid-day on a Sunday, I had a cold and windy walk to the lake with Miney and hubby. I rarely see the little birds on windy days, they stay hunkered down somewhere. I did hear an Eagle calling and a loud Red-bellied Woodpecker. I could hear Crows calling loudly in the distance.
3. NCR bike trail, I saw three Northern Flickers pecking at the ground, Miney and Hubby on the trail.
4. In the our back yard the Blue Jays wait for me to put out some bird food for them.
5. Our first snow storm with 4-6 inches of snow. Miney looks at the shovel and says when are you going to get this done?
From my archives, various trips we took to Costa Rica, Panama and Belize I was thrilled to see various toucans.
6. Collared Aracari Toucan, seen in Costa Rica and Belize.
I hope you enjoyed these birds, they were a treat to see. The Toucans are one of my many favorite birds, seen during our travels to Costa Rica, Panama and Belize.
I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Beautiful photos, Eileen! Those Costa Rica shots are a real treat, and I always enjoy seeing what's happening in your neck of the woods.
Be proud that you have such a beautiful backyard for the all sorts of animals...Happy Saturday, Eileen!
So beautiful post, Awesome series of photos, Amazing birds.
Greetings. Thanks a lot for hosting.
Toucans are such wonderful birds — I’m a lifelong fan. There was a toucan that I remember in one of my books when I was just a few years old!
Have a great week, and good luck with seeing a bird in this weather. We aren’t even trying, it’s so cold.
Oh, I'm late today, dear Blogfriend Eileen. But first a friendly Good morning... I enjoyed again your walk, seeing amazing birds, especially the Toucan. Seeing sweet Minnie too.
Thank you for sharing, have a wonderful week. Many greetings by Heidrun
As so often, dear Eileen: I'll get back to you later! 💚
Hi Eileen,
This is a beautiful series of photos.
The Kiel-billed Toucan and the Collared Aracari Toucans are my favorites.
The snow has disappeared here and the temperatures are high again, but they say we're in for another cold spell, we'll just have to wait and see.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Best regards Irma
Toucans are fantastic and unique birds, I like them so much too. I have never seen them, not even in wildlife parks. I hope some day...
Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy the snow season, hoping that it will not be too difficult!
Happy weekend!
The toucan’s beak is huge in size, but tiny in weight.
It doesn’t upset flight balance, and the neck doesn’t need to be exceptionally strong.
Nature often looks extravagant—but it’s usually very economical.
Crows we have here in the city, too - sometimes it feels like being in Hitchcock´s "The Birds".
Oh, the Blue Jays look so cute. And impressive toucans, especially #7. Have a great Saturday and weekend.
Lindas sempre tuas fotos,Eileen! O passeio fou lindo e gosto dos bichinhos que te visitam na tua casa.E Miney, sempre agrada ver! beijos, lindo fim de semana, chica
Hello Eileen,
Your pictures are so lovely. I love to see the Blue Jays, because I like blue birds very much. The Toucan is a very beautiful bird too.
Take care, and enjoy your day and weekend!
Blue jay and toucan in one post! There's something cool about that and Miney of course. Thank you, Eileen and Miney 🌺
Miney ❤️

I would love to see those colorful birds, but since we don't travel will be happy with seen what you saw.. poor Miney, your paws look cold. tell Mom to get shoveling that deck. brrrr and glad you saw a few birds.. i walked in 39 degrees yesterday and 42 for today, that is way colder than we are happy with..
Love seeing the photos from your archives, usually birds not seen in our area. We have had lots of snow the past few days.
Hari Om
My word, that was quite the dump of snow... pretty to look at, but oh, the work! The Toucan is such an unlikely looking bird, but great fun! YAM xx
I am always amazed with your close ups! Good job! I miss our little summer birds.
Hello Eileen, another set of beautiful photos. Those toucans are amazing! Please remove Link #14. I don't know what happened but it's the wrong one. Number 15 is the right one. Thanks for hosting and have a great week.
Gorgeous photos as usual, Eileen. I need to get birdseed this weekend! They've been chowing down and for awhile I wasn't allowed to lift the bag!
Dear Eileen, thanks so much for hosting this party each week. I may not see many critters in my little world of sidewalks, parking lots and just the one lake. But I did see a great blue heron just fly along the whole edge of the lake's length the other day (not thinking to try to photograph it though!) I do like your new header photo!
Lovely birds!
Those are all amazing especially the Toucans!
Dear Eileen - a wonderful saturday to you too. I like your pics of the birds best - so many different species. This time I have critters in my blogs to link.
Have a good time and all the best
Violetta
...Eileen, you have such a wonderful assortment this week. Like your husband I look for a seat along the way. Thanks for hosting and be well.
Dear Eileen, I've finally taken the time to read this post (and look at the pictures) and the previous one about Miney's Gotcha Day. I believe you when you say that Miney was "love at first sight" for both of you and that she has changed and enriched your lives. She's a little treasure with a truly beautiful face.
It was also wonderful to walk through the birdlife with you again—both in your homeland and in Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize. I still dream about Costa Rica and hope to go back there someday. Toucans are definitely impressive birds; I remember our sightings there very well. I'm still connected on WhatsApp with one of our nature guides from back then and often see his beautiful photos of animals, forests, rivers, and waterfalls—sigh! (I think he wants to lure Edi and me back to Costa Rica 😅 - but we don't have such a big trip planned for this year.) But right now, this guide is also very impressed by our snow and ice photos in Austria 😉 The world simply has so much beauty to offer - almost everywhere!
Warm winter greetings ❄️☃️, Traude

The Toucans are wonderful but the Blue Jays are fabulous, Eileen. Thanks for all of your nice comments.
Wow on the photos you capture. We don't normally see any of those where I live in Ohio. My bird watching is in the back yard, and I too like the ones that you show that come to the feeder. Thank you for the link up. Happy Saturday.
Beautiful photos. Your snow is pretty too.
I see why you like those Toucans, Eileen. Miney is such a good companion. Wow! Look at your snow. We are still waiting for snow here. Take care and have a great Saturday!

Costa Rica is a beautiful place and a great place to see exotic birds. We did have more snow this morning, maybe 2-3 inches. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
For me it would be such a thrill to see a toucan in real life. I've seen lots in zoos and other places where they are captive. I love Carolina Wrens but I hardly ever see them. I hear them a lot when I am out hiking. Blue Jays are amazing loud. I saw one the other day that had to be at least 200 yards away I could hear it as plain as if it were right next to me.
Thank you for being such a faithful host.
Thank you Yogi, for your link and comment.
