Hubby and I went on a 2 night getaway April 20-22nd to the shores of Delaware and Ocean City Maryland. We were lucky get an appointment with a dialysis center close to Ocean City. The stars have to align for this to happen, hubby had to have blood work within 30 days, the center had to have a chair opened at the time we wanted to travel. They called me on Friday with a time and we were leaving on Monday, a close call. Miney went on her own vacation on that Sunday April 19th. It was our first trip since our Alaska trip back in July-Aug 2024. I forgot to mention I signed Miney up for a Doggie Boot Camp for 2 weeks, she needed some training on leash walking and social behaviors.

1. On our loop road trip from home we drove to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. I messed up with my camera card, I left it home and could not take photos until I stopped and bought a new card in Dover Delaware. I took a few photos with my phone which are just so-so, I can not get closeups at all with my phone. I did like catching this Bald Eagle in flight next to the wildlife drive.
After stopping to buy a new camera card we drove onto to Prime Hook NWR in Delaware. I wanted to see if the Pink Lady Slippers were in bloom. Years ago we saw them lining the trail, this trail had the most Lady Slippers I have ever seen. This year we were lucky to see 3 or 4 plants.
2. Next we drove on to Ocean City, Md where we would be staying for two nights. We had an ocean front room at the Hilton Garden Inn. I thought it was a good deal for off season.
3. The next morning we watched the sunrise from our balcony and room.
I watched lines of Double-crested Cormorants flying by, just above the Atlantic Ocean.
Early morning, the workers are out cleaning the beach.
4. Mid Morning, Michael can not travel without having his dialysis treatment. We found a place in Berlin Md, 8 miles outside of Ocean City. So part of the day Michael had his dialysis and I birdwatched and read my kindle book. We did stop at the Heron Pond in Berlin for a little walk and some birdwatching. We ran into some other walkers with dogs, the dogs always like Michael.
I watched a Killdeer on the parking lot at the dialysis center.
5. Later in the day we watched the sunset at the Ocean City Inlet. Across the inlet I could see the Ponies at the Assateague State Park.
7. On the jetty at the inlet, I saw a few Great Blue Herons, some Brown Pelicans, various gulls and some Cormorants resting on the rocks.
8. Sunset at Ocean City, Maryland
On a sad note, our neighborhood peacock has disappeared, he has been missing for a few weeks now. I am afraid something bad happened to it, maybe a fox?

Loved the sky photos!
Have a super weekend!
Beautiful photos and a wonderful trip report! It is amazing how much planning goes into travel when dialysis is involved. Fingers crossed that your neighborhood peacock reappears.
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful Lady Slippers! I really love them very much. The birds and the sunrise is also so wonderful. Take care, and have a great day and weekend!
How nice you could enjoy such a pleasant getaway! I am just happy for you both!
Thanks for sharing the views and the critters. Moreover, the pink orchids are so pretty.

What a wonderful getaway! It's great that everything lined up with the dialysis appointment so you and your hubby could finally enjoy a trip together. So beautiful series of photos. Amazing skies. Stay well. Greetings. Thanks a lot for hosting.
I'm so glad you got to make this trip together! Blessings to you both from me and Pixy. Aloha
You call that Doggie Boot Camp?! We call it dog-school, sounds a bit "nicer"...
Glorious sunrise! Dialysis sounds so scary, but good we have that. Oh and the sunset, do I miss the ocean!
I am sorry for your peacock. My Peanut is gone, too... But, all in all I hope you have a great Saturday!
It is sad when we lose our frequent flyers!
You two are amazing to travel. It is not easy. I just can't face travel any more.
Lots of beautiful photos, Eileen. Lovely to see.
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful series of photos from your trip.

I wish you a very good weekend.
All the best, Irma
I hope the peacock 🦚 comes back. 🙏
Your photos are beautiful, Eileen. Thank you so much for sharing. Have a great weekend.
This is the getaway I would really enjoy too! That sunrise was gorgeous. Happy Saturday, Eileen!
Lovely for you both to have a short get away. Bonus you were able to get an appointment. Hoping that peacock returns.
...Eileen, you saw some gorgeous sight on your little get away and I thank you for sharing them. I wish you many beautiful sunsets.
Beautiful shots.
Foi boa a viagem a dois e que bom tudo deu certo! Pena que o pavão desapareceu! Lindas fotos todas! Ótimo e feliz fim de semana! beijos, chica
Oh my goodness this is a win, win, win, win get-away! Your stars aligned for your Husband's dialysis, the great weather, seeing beautiful sights and securing accommodations right on the beach. I hope the peacock is just on its own little getaway and will return soon.
That is such a pretty area, we used to go there frequently when we lived up North and we always enjoyed it. I'm glad the stars aligned for your trip.
Good to hear that you are traveling. We visited that area a few years ago and found the bird life quite interesting, though if I recall, we weren’t there at the best time of year.
Good luck with the dialysis… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
So glad you all could have this great get-away while Miney is improving her own training! What a good thing that you could get the memory card and use your excellent camera with zoom for these beautiful photos. And it's wonderful you all had this time away to enjoy scenes, dogs, birds and medical treatment for hubby. Sorry I don't have any critters this week!
Great photos. It's nice to have a little get-away.
Hope the peacock returns soon ~ Lovely 'getaway' photos ~ I am always partial to the ocean ~ Your photos are always wonderful and especially enjoy Miney ~ Happy Weekend to you ~ Hugs ^_^
It's nice to go away and find new things to see and enjoy, Eileen. Lovely shots. Thanks for hosting and have a great new week.
So glad you got away and got to see a few things. I love having oceanside rooms at the beach, even in off season. You couldn't use your camera until you got a card for it but you still got some great photos.
Really sorry about the peacock. I love the photos you took of it over the years.
It's great that one can schedule dialysis on the road. I had never thought of that but that is good thing to know so you two can get out and do things.
Hi Eileen --Happy saturday! It is so nice to return to a favorite place! You saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the ocean. I'm sad to hear the peacock is missing. Maybe he moved on looking for a mate? Enjoy the weekend and stay cool!
Those sunset view shots that you took are simply breathtaking! My wife and I are trying to plan a trip, but are also dealing with the care of parents. Shalom!
I shall miss the peacock. What a sad news.
By the way, the sunset is gorgeous.
I'm glad that you got away for a bit of a trip, Eileen. Too bad about the peacock.
You have made a nice trip dear Eileen. The pictures are not so bad as you think LOL. I love the sunrises and sunsets....when we are on travel at the sea I always take too many. You had a nice view to the sandy beach at your hotel.
Have a good time and all the best
Violetta
Glad you were able to enjoy the spectacular ocean views. Maybe Peacock has found a new and exciting life. One can only guess and realize that the good is as possible as the bad, I suppose. :)
