These are just a few of the birds some at my feeders and around my yard the last couple of days.

The Male Purple Finch is a beauty, he has been accompanied by what looks like three females. Hanging with three females, he must be quite the dude!

A couple of the Pine Siskins enjoying the sunflower seeds. Their mouths moving so much, they did not come out clear on the photo.

The female Downy Woodpecker seems to love the suet.

The Pine Warbler also loves the peanut butter suet. This a pretty male Pine Warbler above. The last couple of winters I have been seeing the male at my feeders.

Lately I have been seeing two Pileated Woodies flying over my yard, this time it was a foggy morning when one landed on this tree. There is a dead tree across from my driveway that they seem to be enjoying. Not the best photo, but you can see that it is the Pileated Woodpecker. They are huge birds with mostly a black back and when you see them flying they have white spots under their wings. They have a red crested head and the male has what I call a red moustache, the female's is black. They can be extremely loud too. I am just happy they are around my yard.

Great photos . . . you must have a perfect place to capture such wonderful photos. Suet suggestion?
Always enjoy those Pileated. You're so fortunate to have them. We rarely see one anymore--there's been quite a bit of logging in the area. Loss of habitat affects so many animals/birds around here...
What an amazing selection of birds Eileen! I would give my right arm to have them in my back garden!

Eileen, you have some lovely birds visiting your backyard. That male Pine warbler certainly is beautiful. It's always a pleasure to see the Pileated Woodpeckers. We have a few in our area but I can't seem to get a decent photograph of any of them. I could just sit at the window and watch the feeding birds you featured in this wonderful post all day long.
I'm always surprised with the bright colors of the birds you capture. I love the purple finch. He's so beautiful!

I've seen the purple finch at my feeder but he doesn't come often.
Yes, you can definitely tell that's a Pileated. So excited for you. Two were here a few weeks ago but I haven't seen or heard them since.

Great group of birds, Eileen. I never see Warblers here --but they are so pretty.... Our finches are mostly Goldfinches and House Finches.

Purple is a pleasing color so I can see why the females hang around or perhaps this male finch is just a stud.

Great shots of your backyard birds Eileen. I've only ever seen the Pileated Woodpecker once, on a walk across the battlefields in Manassas, and never the Pine Warbler, such a cute little bird.

lovely post, however I did smile when I saw the suet feeder closed together with a garden tie.... exactly what I have to do, great minds!

A great variety of birds! We don't see siskins or any warblers. I didn't know warblers even visited feeders. I'm envious of the Pileated Woodpeckers. They're awesome!
