How do you like my catchy title? You would never guess it is about birds right? Ha!Ha! It is all about birds! I know I have shown my Brown Booby (taken from a boat on the way to St Johns) before but not so sure if I ever put up my Blue-footed Booby from Panama.

Above is my Blue-footed Booby seen in Panama 2011. The Boobies are aerial divers and a pelagic bird.
It is not the best photo, the bird was in flight and I was on a boat heading into the Panama Canal. I am not the best taking photos of birds in flight and it is even harder when you are moving too.

I was a little luckier with this Brown Booby flying by. I was sitting down on the side of the boat (turning green) when the bird flew right along side the boat. This fly-by was meant for me, I am sure! On this day we were on a tour to St Johns from our cruise ship which was docked at St Thomas.
They were both lifers at the time and very exciting birds to see. I have not done much birding lately at home so I am diving into my archives to do this post. Other Boobies are the Masked Booby and the Red-footed Booby and I read both of these could be seen at the Dry Tortugas in Florida. I am researching a possible trip to Florida and adding lifers to my list will be exciting too. I guess that means another boat ride is necessary, I will have to take some seasick pills to see these other boobies.

All the booby birds have such unique features. How awesome to see one so close.
Great to see and photograph the Boobies. We have them here in Australia also but they are usually north from where I live.

Super sweet shot Eileen. Love these birds out in the wild. If you come to Arizona, we have to talk:) I've got ideas for you. Lots of birds to be seen here:) Of course it might require a road trip to Rocky Point, Mexico for more boobies:), willets, etc etc.....Your post has me excited for this summer. Too many birds to be seen and enjoyed:)

Glad that I came here. I love Boobies, my favorite bird! While traveling on a small sail boat we saw a lot of them. In the harbor (Galapagos, Marquesas)and fare out at sea, so fare out I would have never expected to see one. They are amazing!

Good to see your boobies, especially that close-up Eileen! As more of a tropical species the only member of the booby family we get over here is the Gannet.

I saw lots of Brown Boobys when I was in Queensland - they are much larger than the Great Tits we used to get in our garden in the UK. In the winter we used to get Blue Tits as well!

Hi Eileen, We are enjoying the beach in beautiful Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. I saw some sea birds today while walking --but just the 'ordinary' ones. I will think (or thought) of you today at 12 minutes and 12 seconds after 12 noon on 12/12/11.... Unbelievable.
