Happy Easter and Happy Passover!

Click on images for better viewing.

I have a mish-mash of photos and critters, sharing birds from my backyard and some from my archives. I am happy that I do not have to go further than my back yard to enjoy nature.

1. The Peacock is a regular visitor to our yard especially on the milder weather days.  He landed on top of our car one day.

Another day we came home from dialysis and he was on our deck railing.

2. The Cardinal likes to sit in our blueberry bush, maybe protection from raptors or the mean Mockingbird.

We saw the Turkey Vultures in the woods next to our house, one day they feasted on a deer carcass on the road across from our house.

3. Some of my backyard birds on the feeders are the Carolina Chickadee and the American Goldfinch.

4. More of my backyard feeders birds, the Dark-eyed Junco, Downy Woodpecker, White-throated Sparrow and a Carolina Wren.

Below are various Nuthatches, three are seen either in my backyard or in Southern Maryland and one was seen in Colorado in the Rocky Mountain NP.

First is the Brown-headed Nuthatch seen in the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. I have seen this bird more along the coastal areas of the Mid-Atlantic states.

The Red-breasted Nuthatch was seen in my backyard, it was an occasional visitor during the winter.

The White-breasted Nuthatch can be seen every day in my backyard, a regular visitor to my feeders.

The Pygmy Nuthatch was seen in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The Pygmy Nuthatch is the smallest Nuthatch can be found in pine trees in Mountains and foothills.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday   I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Dear Eileen,
it's really wonderful that you don't have to go too far to experience nature. I too am very grateful for our garden, where there are various birds, some sorts of insects like bees, butterflies, bumblebees, dragonflies, ladybugs... mice, frogs, and toads, sometimes hedgehogs, frequent visiting cats, and (unfortunately rarely) lizards to discover.

I find it particularly fascinating that the Downy Woodpecker and the Dark-eyed Junco have no problem eating from the same feeder at the same time. The nuthatches are delightful. We have some here too – (Sitta europaea) – which look very similar to your Red-breasted Nuthatch. But not in the garden, only in the neighbouring woods. However, I HEAR them more often than I see them... they're actually quite loud for small birds 😉 Is that the same with the American nuthatches?
Happy Easter! 🌸🐣🐇🪺🐰
All the best from Austria,
Traude

I have never thought these peacocks can be so common in one place.
Just as common as the monkeys in Malaysia.
But I don't think they are aggressive as the monkeys.

HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
The Peacock certainly likes to sit up as high as possible Eileen. Great close up shots of the birds. Thanks for hosting and commenting.. I hope you have a lovely week ahead.

Hello Eileen, Your post is especially delightful today, it probably has to do with your friendly neighborhood Peacock, which by the way may be enjoying life better than ours. He won't leave the pole-barn. Of course, our weather hasn't been the best, but I sure miss him strolling about the yard, coming up on the deck, you and hoping on top of a vehicle or two. He loves to climb into the box of an old pick-up out back. When he leaves the barn! Your cardinal is beautiful too. Enjoy your Easter with loved ones and especially the little ones make a hunt so fun. Take care.
