I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
On Saturday, hubby and I took a daytrip to Blackwater NWR in Cambridge, Md. It is a nice drive thru rural areas of Maryland's Eastern Shore.
A closeup of the juvenile Bald Eagle, Adult Bald Eagle and a juvie Bald Eagle in flight.
A pretty scenic shot of Blackwater National Wildlife refuge. In the distance you can see some of the diamonds glittering in the water.
A flock of White Pelicans with some swans, a scenic shot of Blackwater NWR, Tundra Swan with Northern Pintail ducks and Canada Geese.
Snow Geese in flight and a view of the distant Blackwater NWR visitor center and the the Snow Geese.
It was cool to see the Sow Geese lift off the ground, they moved just a bit.
Two Northern Shovelers, Tundra Swans and a few Common Mergansers. I just love the green, white and rusty colors on the Shoveler. A very pretty duck.
A couple of pretty Great Blue Herons..
We had a great morning and afternoon, driving the wildlife drive three times. Seeing different sights and birds along the way.. On the way home along Rt 50 we found a new place for our Maryland Crabcakes..the Harris Crab House at Kent Narrows.. DELICIOUS..
We have one more day of sunshine and warm weather and then the forecast is calling for more of the Artic Vortex and snow.....will this winter ever end? I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend..
Thanks for visiting my blog. I always appreciate your comments.

I'm glad you got out for this wonderful experience on your (too) short break in the weather. These birds are wonderful .. I've probably told you a million times or so that we saw snow geese like that in the fall at Bosque Del Apache. It is so amazing to see that many of these beautiful birds. Love all your pictures.

PS I'm late to respond, but I had last week, three days long course of my work and therefore did not respond to add.
Wow, all those Snow Geese and a fabulous day out, and to finish up with the crabcakes, sounds like the best Eileen

Abraço e muito obrigada por me ter visitado. Excelente semana. Abraços Ailime
Wow - what a great drive and to get to do it three times - I just love all the birds and find it interesting that almost all of them are ones we see here - except the pelicans. They have them down in Seattle - 90 miles south - but not here. I miss them from when we lived in California,.
Looks like you had a wonderful day with some great sightings. I am so tired of winter and would love to make an appearance soon. Take care and have a great week. Jen
Beautiful place with so many birds. I like the shot of birds flying in group.
Looks like a great outing. Love that shot of the snow geese in flight!
I'd love to do this drive. There is nothing like seeing an eagle; and the snow geese in flight are spectacular photos!

Oh my goodness Eileen, you really do take the most amazing pictures!! I LOVE all of these. Those snow geese are a sight to behold in such large numbers, aren't they? I'm very partial to swans and wish we had some close by. I've read that there are swans in parts of N.C., but I've never traveled to those areas to see them. Maybe one day. :)
Thanks for your visit -- I hope you have a lovely week.
Denise
beautiful scenery and superb photos!
i particularly love the snow goose flock!
big hugs~
Eileen, your photos of these beautiful birds are very uplifting, especially the one of the snow geese taking flight!;) How pretty the water is, sparkling and calm, and what a lovely way to end your excursion with that delicious sounding meal!
Have a super week!

That's my sort of birding too Eileen. A fabulous place to visit and all those Snow Geese are to die for- a briliant shot of them en masse. It's a lovely scenic place too.
A stunning series of captures, Eileen. Thank you for sharing (and visiting)
Dearest Eileen;
What an amazing series of bird photos(^_^)v Bald eagle, Geese in flight and Shoveler. First for me to hear the name and "what would they shovel?" p;)
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Amazing nature bird shots! Love your eagle picture!
Hi Eleen, Great shots of the birds. The snow geese are incredible and the juvenile bald eagle looks like an unkempt teenager! Yes the sink hole is still there. The drilling is to determine if there are other cavities nearby. They will drill two more holes, then decide what to do to fix the problem. This section of the street has had several previous sink holes, one much larger, the others smaller.
Eileen, between those magnificent Snow Geese in flight and the close up of the juvie Bald Eagle, those shots along with all other shares, you and your hubby had a wonderful day trip. I LOVE that Bald Eagle shot...great capture. The Snow Geese in flight, add a red and green ribbon in the corner and you have a Christmas greeting card~
What a grand time you had Eileen! Loved the juvenile bald eagle that reminded me so much of a teenager in scruffy jeans.
Wonderful to see the masses of snow geese.
Absolutely gorgeous photos, Eileen! What a beautiful place...I miss the Eastern Shore! Look at those snow geese and swans!
Wow! Wow! Wow! So many species. I love the second shot, so spellbinding.
These are wonderful photos. I do hope spring arrives eventually.
