Our World, My World

 Hello and Happy Monday.

Hubby and I are celebrating our ❤️ 30th anniversary today May 4th. It is amazing how fast 30 years go by.  Usually we celebrate our anniversary by going on a trip somewhere. Some of our trips had to be planned before or after our actual anniversary date.  Traveling anywhere now has been put off, so we will celebrate when things are normal again. Happy Anniversary to my hubby, my shadow and my love.

" We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone."

For now, I am remembering past trips hubby and I took for our anniversary.  Our honeymoon in 1990 was in Hawaii, we visited the Big Island, Maui and Kauai..below are some scenes from places we visited, we took a helicopter ride in Kauai, the road to Hana was a done a few times, we saw so many waterfalls, a hike through a bamboo forest, visited the Hawaii Volcano National Park, Kauai's Grand Canyon, black sand beaches and more.

I am skipping ahead to 2010, our 20th Anniversary and one of my favorite places, Chincoteague Island Va..  In late March 2010 we went to Costa Rica  and in Sept 2010 we drove a loop around the Cascades Washington State.

In 2011, a short anniversary trip was to Cape May NJ and Atlantic City NJ.  This trip included beach walks and lots of birding at Cape May and Edwin Forsythe NWR. In Nov 2011 we went on a week long trip to Panama

In 2012,  our trip was to the island of Curacao. You can click on the Curacao link to see more trip photos. In July 2012 we vacationed in Oregon and we went to hubby sisters wedding in Bainbridge Island Washington.

In 2013, we were in Florida, traveling around from Tampa down to Key West Florida.
In Nov 2013 hubby and I visited New Mexico/Texas.

In 2014, our 24th Anniversary  another favorite place to visit was Belize. We spent part of the week at a jungle resort and the other part of the week was at a beach resort.

In 2015, our 25th Anniversary,  below another visit to Chincoteague Island Virginia.  Longer trips in 2015 were to Florida 2015   and Washington State 2015.

In 2016, our trip was to Virginia Beach, Va.. another trip in March 2016 a road trip to Tennessee to see the Sandhill Cranes migrating and Falls Creek Falls . July 2016, we bought a 2nd home in Lakeland Fl.  In October 2016 we lived part time in Lakeland Florida till March 2017.  Every day during that time was like a vacation.  We sold that Lakeland Fl home in March 2017.

In 2017, Our 27th anniversary trip was 2 weeks in May traveling around Washington State.  One of my favorite places was Sequim and the Dungeness NWR. In Sept 2017 we took a road trip to Erie, Pa.

In 2018, our 28th Anniversary trip, was a road trip through Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. Below our hike to Old Man's Cave in the Hocking Hills SP, Ohio

In 2019, our 29th Anniversary trip was in June to the Finger Lakes NY. Below is the Watkins Glen State Park. In Jan 2019 we drove to Florida again.

We have many happy memories from trips, these are from the past 10 years and our honeymoon shown in the mosaics above. Older photos and trips are in my archives.  Now we are looking forward to more trips and years ❤️ together.

Teresa's Friday's Hunt

1. I am sharing more of our trip to Virginia Beach and a visit to the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. It is a gorgeous refuge and reminded me of Chincoteague NWR. There is more walking and they do not have the wildlife drive.

Above the Cardinal, Redwing Blackbird, Yellow-rump warbler, Eastern Phoebe, Horned Grebe, Gull, Northern Gannet, Brown Pelican, Cormorants.

2. One of my simple pleasures... watching the Sunrise.
For Teresa's Friday's Hunt.. also my Favorite photo for the week.  My photo with the letter "S" the last Sunrise of our trip to Virginia.

3. Another simple pleasure are walks on the beach.
I am not positive but I think the gull above is the Great Black-backed Gull. It looks like it has misapplied the lipstick, LOL.

4. Walking is cheap, fun and safe acceptable exercise.

For Tex's Good Fence meme.....There is also a trail that takes you up to the beach. Check out the Shadows from the fences.

There are five or more trails, some were the boardwalk trails with pretty views of the bay.

5. An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.

I love this deserted beach, not many people around. Pretty blue skies during our whole trip.

We had fun watching the dolphins swimming back and forth while we were on the beach. I hope you enjoyed our visit the wildlife refuge. We were able to see two refuges during our Virginia trip, this Back Bay NWR and the Great Dismal NWR. I recommend visiting both if you are ever in the area.  As always, thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. Have a happy new week ahead!

More Virginia Beach, Virginia

It's time to link up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences and Random 5 Friday and Friday's Hunt . Join in on the fun and share your post with these fun memes.

First, I want to send my prayers to the people of Houston and Ecuador and Japan. The flooding in Houston and earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan are all devastating disasters.

I am sharing some more photos from our Virginia Beach trip. The sunrise, moon rise and moon set were all beautiful sights.

For my Random 5 Friday

1. I am surprised by this information that Virginia Beach is the largest city in Virginia with a population of 425,000.

The sunrise on the March 23rd from our oceanfront room. There are various fences in this shot for Tex's Good Fence meme.

Teresa's Friday"s Hunt
1. Starts with Q
2. Weeks favorite
3. At rest

2. Watching a sunrise is one of my simple pleasures. Below is one of my favorite photos for Teresa's Friday's Hunt.

Can you find the moon, it is setting just in the middle of the photo below. A look at the sunrise reflection on our hotel and a view of some fences too.

3. There are four North American Migration Flyways: the Atlantic, the Mississippi, the Central and the Pacific Flyway.

Above an aircraft carrier and two Northern Gannets seen at Virginia Beach.

3. Did you know gulls are called garbage birds because they eat almost anything.
We  saw a lot of  the Ring-billed Gulls on the beach. For Teresa'a Friday's Hunt here are some gulls "at rest" on the beach.

4. In April the full moon has several names: Grass moon, Frog moon and Egg moon.  They seem like weird names for the moon to me.

Below are some images of the moon rising from the Atlantic Ocean on March 23rd.

I did say I was addicted to taking photos of the moon.

Another favorite photo above the moon rising and the three little lights are from boats out in the ocean.

5. During the full moon and new moon the gravitational forces of the sun and the moon combine to produce the highest tides called the Spring Tides.

If you look hard on the bottom left of the photo, I have included our shadows on the beach. I hope you enjoyed your visit and my post. Thank so much for stopping by and for the nice comments.

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Below is a list of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

I am sharing our most recent trip March 22-24. A two night, three day road trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Side excursions were stops at the Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Back Bay NWR, Chincoteague Island National Seashore. We saw some beautiful sunrises, sunsets and the moon rising over the Atlantic Ocean. Lots of birds, turtles and even some butterflies.

My first time visiting Virginia Beach,Virginia, sharing our shadows.

Above the boardwalk, turtle sculptures, gulls on the beach and the surfer sculpture. I am always having fun taking our shadow shots. I think we missed the Spring Breakers, it was not crowded at all. Just the way we like to spend time at the beach.

A Ring-billed gull on the beach.

Not many people but plenty of gulls on the beach..I love the beachy colors of the sand, ocean and the sky.

The hotel pool was closed for the winter season, but the Mallard ducks claimed the pool for themselves.

Our first sunrise at Virginia Beach!

Sharing a map of our road trip to Virginia Beach, Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Back Bay NWR and Chincoteague Island National Seashore. It was a great trip, it is always great to visit new places.

As always, I appreciate the visits and your nice comments.  Have a happy new week ahead!
