Happy Monday,

           To my blog friends in Canada,   Happy Thanksgiving! 

After my son's wedding, my hubby's sister and her husband from Florida stayed at our house for a few days. We had fun showing our neighborhood to our BIL. We all  went on a few walks with the dogs on the local fire roads. Also we all met up with hubby's cousin who lives in Baltimore, we all had fun walking around the Baltimore Harbor and the Federal Hill neighborhood. Lunch at Nick's Seafood Restaurant was delicious, Crab Cakes in Maryland are the best.

Mosaic of Baltimore, the Harbor, Oriole baseball stadium, Baltimore National Aquarium, Flag, Federal Hill Neighborhood, Raven's Ray Lewis sculpture, Raven's football stadium, harbor. 

Baltimore's Harbor, it is nice to see new buildings being built. Seeing the cranes is a good sign. 

Baltimore's Federal Hill flag, the Federal Hill provided a panoramic view during the War of 1812. This flag is the 13 star Colonial Flag. The Betsy Ross Flag has the stars in a circle.

It was an a busy and exciting weekend with my son's wedding and now we are dog-sitting the grand-dogs for a week. These are images from Oct 1st and 2nd. I saw at least 8 Monarch Butterflies in my yard, YAY finally. 

The Monarchs seem to love the butterfly bush. 

We took a walk on the local fire road on 10/2. The birds have a lot of different berries to, our Lantana is still blooming, there are a little fall colors around here and there. The ferns are seen all along the fire road. 

The Carolina Wrens are always seen around my yard.

Dark blue or purple berries, not sure of the id? Maybe Serviceberry?

Some nuts growing on a tree near the bamboo I found while on another day and walk. 

A different berries, these seem to be all around the forest. I am guessing maybe Viburnum?

I saw 3 Pileated Woodpeckers flying from tree to tree, I assume they were a family.

Happy Monday,

September has flown by for me, it's been busy with lots happening. Our son's wedding is this weekend. We are looking forward to the wedding and welcoming a daughter into our family. I wish them much happiness. 

Some images from around my yard, we still have some flowers blooming like the Morning Glories, Lantana and the Upright Fuchsia. 

I am guessing at this id, a female Black-throated Blue Warbler. She has been hanging around feasting on the berries. Sometimes I see her on my deck railing enjoying some of the peanut suet balls. 

The male House Finch has been a visitor in the yard recently.  

As of 9/26 I am still seeing the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in my yard. 

Our walks have been on the local bike trail, below are some scenes from our last walk.

Some days we can walk on our local fire road trails, our weather is still summer like. Warm days and no rain. 

I am not sure what these berries are called, the red stems are pretty. 

I always enjoy this local trail, we are lucky this is in our neighborhood and there are no hunter's trucks parked nearby.

I am sharing another day tour from our Iceland trip. This tour was 14 hours round trip from Reykjavik to the South Coast and the  Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. We stopped at two waterfalls and at the Black Sand Beach in the town of Vik. Our tour also included a boat ride on the Glacier Lagoon. 

Temps on this day were mid 50's to 60°. It always felt warm with the sun shining. Our first stop was at the Skógafoss Waterfalls. The spray from the falls felt like rain.

The town of Vik was our lunch stop and our dinner stop. Behind the restaurants and souvenir shop was the Black Sand Beach. I saw some Black-headed Gulls and there
were some Pelagic Cormorant near some rock formations. 

One stranger among the Black-headed Gulls. 

I know I am reaching for this id, but I am guessing beside a gull  the other birds are the European Shag. 

After eating, I walked around outside and found these cute White Wagtails on the parking lot.

The White Wagtail is a lifer for me, yay! 

Looking out the bus window, there were many waterfalls seen on the cliffs. Also, on the cliffs I could see the Northern Fulmars and there were actually some sheep seen high up on the cliffs. 

At the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, we went on a lagoon boat tour. It was neat to ride past some of the icebergs. It rained during our boat tour, I was told by the guide there were some sea ducks and seals in the water. I only saw them from a distance. With the boat moving and the rain, photos with my camera was not happening. Hubby took these with my iphone. 

A view of the icebergs from the shore. The icebergs are pieces of the glacier breaking off and floating in the lagoon. 

Now that we were back on the bus, the sun and sky cleared up. This is a view of the Glacier. The black line on the right side is volcanic ash from the past eruptions.

More from Iceland, this area from our Snaefellsnes Peninsula was seen in the movie Game of Thrones. Hubby and I loved all the waterfalls, glaciers and the mountain views in Iceland.

Hello and Happy Monday,

Views of my world and my neighborhood, one of our recent walks on the nearby fire road. We start off in the same direction as the last two walks but cut off onto a new to me fire road heading toward a different section of the lake. 

Aug 21st , we started out our 3.2 round trip mile hike on the Shamberger Peninsula trail. Taking the cut off of the main trail to another fire road that came to a dead end.  We could see the lake through the trees but we were not very close to the lake. There was a steep hill down to lake, I was not up to bushwhacking my way down to the water.

I am sure these are Cedar Waxwings, I see yellow on the bottom of their tails. 

We pass by where I recently saw my Prairie Warblers, Cedar Waxwings and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. The Cedar Waxwing were still there, hanging out high in tree.  All I could see was their bottoms. the top two photos are the Cedar Waxwings and the bottom photo is an unknown Flycatcher? 

We saw 3-5 of these birds hanging out together high in the trees. I see a little on it's chest and two wing bars? 

This tree has some nice sized nuts, I am not sure what kind of tree it is?  Maybe pecan nut? 

There is a section of bamboo plants in a clearing area, also where the nut tree and my unknown flycatcher were  seen. 

The fire road is already starting to be covered with fallen leaves. We watched two deer running away from us, no photo. The Bow Hunting season usually starts around Sept 15. We will have to find another place for our walks.
