This week I am sharing more birds, butterflies and blooms from my yard.  The hot, humid and rainy days not best for any birding outings.

Thankful Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday!

Hubby and I enjoy our fire road walks checking out all the different mushrooms along the way.  I am not sure of all the mushroom id's, I just enjoy seeing their colors and shapes. I also included a view of our lake, it was a little cloudy that day. We were dog sitting for my son's dogs. It is nice having the grand-dogs for a visit and they love to go on walks with us.

"All good things are wild and free." A cloudy day at the lake.

We are lucky to have these fire roads just a walk away from our house, it is like we have a park and the lake at our doorstep.

"If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere."

I am guessing this is a Eastern Wood Pewee, I heard the song before I saw the bird. I like the bokeh showing up in the tree canopy.

I am thankful for all my nature sightings. All nature is grand.

Our World

Happy Monday!

Our world or my world, George's Creek is one of our local walks and a nearby creek that leads into our lake.  We have many choices for our walks, many on the local fire roads. Some official trails that I believe are maintained by the local Sierra Club, George's Creek is a maintained trail along the creek and leads to the lake.

These are images from our walk on the trail. We saw lots of daylilies, Turkey Vultures flying high in the sky and a group of Wood Ducks and some fish in the creek.

A female wood duck, they was a family but they went into hiding.

Daylilies along the creek's edge.

I am not sure what kind of fish this is, it was kind of big.

A view of the creek looking a little muddy from recent rain.  We saw a Great Blue Heron but it was too shy to pose for a photo.

Sunlight on George's Creek.

Turkey Vultures a common sighting around our neighborhood and the lake.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Saturday's Critters # 244

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Here are some of my  back yard birds, butterflies and critters.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have found some place to perch in the nearby blueberry bushes which are really close to their feeders.

The neighborhood squirrels are well fed here, I stopped using the thistle sock because the darn squrrels would chew a hole in them and the seed would just fall out.  I started buying the thistle seed and put in a small feeder and you can see the squirrel made himself at home on the feeder.

Black Swallowtail and  a Great Spangled Fritillary.

Thankful Thursday

Hello & Happy Thankful Thursday!

I am sharing some flowers and birds from my yard. Summer is going so quickly, we are even seeing some fall colors on a little bit of leaves around the neighborhood.

A Ruby-throated Humminbgbird outside my dining room window. Ignore white curtain on the left.

"A life without dreams is like a garden without flowers."

Love the hummers, I've been watching a family of 6 at the my flowers and feeders.

Buddleia, a surprise butterfly bush not far from our little pond.

Salvia and purple Bee Balm on the deck, attracts the hummers and butterflies. The bees like these flowers too.

"Every flower is  a soul, blossoming in nature."

On the other side is a pretty Lantana growing.

Blue sky day with an Eastern Kingbird.

I am thankful to see a family of Hummingbird in my yard, their nest must be close by.

I am thankful my hubby has a green thumb.

Calvert Cliffs State Park

Hello and happy Monday

I am sharing some images from our visit to Calvert Cliffs State Park, located on Maryland's Western Shore. The park has 13 miles of trails, a sandy beach where you can search for fossils, fresh water and tidal marsh lands. The cliffs and shoreline are on the Chesapeake Bay, I enjoyed the views of the bay, a nearby lighthouse, hundreds of dragonflies and turtles. We saw a Belted Kingfisher, frogs, lizards  and the Red-headed Woodpecker.

A wet section of the Red trail  through the marshland to the beach and cliffs.

A Five-lined Skink

A Belted Kingfisher hanging out at the marshland.

Red-headed Woodpecker seen on a dead tree at the marshland.

There were hundreds of waterlilies on the marshes.

Cove Point Lighthouse, Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County Maryland

A view toward the Cliffs at Calvert Cliffs beach.

Me and my shadow hubby!

I was asked a lot on my previous post about beaver and being warned to look for the beaver. The beaver den is right next to the trail. Beavers have been known to attack people if they feel threatened.

I believe this is the Eastern Amberwing dragonfly.

A guide to the Fossils that can be found on the beach at Calvert Cliffs.

Boat with crab  cages?

A look across the bay to Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

A lineup of Terns, possibly Osprey and Cormorants?

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.
