I am skipping all around with my posts, sharing photos and outings I have not shared yet. These are all photos from my yard and deck, the local fire road and the nearby lake.

A juvenile Red-bellied Woodpecker stopped in for a meal.

One of the many bunnies in our yard.

These are from a walk on our local fire road trail, we heard two Barred Owls calling. I could only find one. Also in the mosaic are the Brown Thrasher, Blue Jay and the Peacock.

Below, the Swallowtail butterflies are loving our butterfly bushes.

A walk to our local lake, I saw a mama deer with her fawn. I like the reflection on the lake.

A Thrush, maybe a young Wood Thrush?

The Downy Woodpecker is a regular visitor to my deck, they like the peanut suet balls.

These images take me to the end of my July images, more of my Alaska trip photos to come soon.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Saturday's Critters # 446

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I have more photos from our walks with the dogs, some birds and a few critters. Since having the dogs here our outings are more just around the neighborhood, on our local fire roads and to the lake. Our weather has warmed up, we have had a few days of high temperatures and humidity.

Click on images from better viewing.

1. May 30th, scenes from our walk on the fire road. We saw a bunny, unknown Flycatcher, grand-dogs and the Mountain Laurels are blooming next to the trail.

2. June 1st, another walk with the grand-dogs , I heard more birds than I saw on our walk. I am hearing lots of Ovenbirds, Worm-eating Warblers, Scarlet Tanagers, Red-eyed Vireo, various Woodpeckers, White-breasted Nuthatch, Brown-headed Cowbirds, Eastern Wood Pewee and American Robins. Below are Nibbles and Winnie, not sure if we a saw Leopard Frog or is it a toad, a Black Snake was on the fire road, large leaf Magnolia tree, possible Hawthorn shrub and Mountain Laurel.

3. June 2nd, I was watching the Eastern Bluebirds coming and going to one of my birdhouses.

4. June 3rd, hubby and I took a walk on the NCR bike trail, I heard a lot of birds singing, guessing at the flycatcher, PeWee or a Phoebe , damselfly, the trail, a large dragonfly and some wildflowers and honeysuckle.

5. June 4th, again I was watching the Bluebirds in my yard and I saw a Chipping Sparrow gathering dog hair for it's nest.

6. June 5th, our walk with the grand-dogs on the local fire road. We had a staring contest with a deer on the trail. It was watching us and we watched it for awhile. The dogs did not notice the deer until it started running away.

7. Can you find the deer? The deer is standing behind Nibbles, near some ferns.

8. June 6th, our routine dog walking on the local fire road, this time we watched a Wood Thrush on the trail in front of us. I think it was eating or collecting something mixed in with the pine needles on the ground.

9. June 7th one of our cloudy day walks to the lake. The grand-dogs look forward to their walks. I have been hearing more birds on our walks, this day I heard the Eastern Wood Pewee calling. Most the the birds are staying hidden behind leaves and in the tree tops.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thursday!

I have said many times before, I am thankful for a great weather day for a hike.  On May 15th hubby and I took a round trip 5.4 walk to the lake, this is a view of the fire road trail.

A look at the sky during our walk to the lake.

Some of the birds I saw while walking to the lake, Indigo Bunting, Wood Thrush, Red-eyed Vireo, Ovenbird.

Some trees, plants and flowers seen along the fire road walk to the lake.

"You belong among the wildflowers, you belong somewhere you feel free." Tom Petty

The sky was reflecting on the lake, looking pretty.

We had a great view of the Great-crested Flycatcher.

I am pretty sure this bird below is the Prairie Warbler.

The wild azaleas were blooming, looking very pretty.

Another look at the Great-crested Flycatcher.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thursday!

We are thankful, safe and happy! Taking life one day at a time. We go out for our walks weather permitting, still keeping the social distance. So thankful for sunny warm days!!

On this day, we took our walk at the local park called Hashawha, I have blogged many times about our walks in this park. Spring is a good time to see the warblers and other birds that moved back in for the summer.

The trail at Lake Hashawha.

Various birds seen were the Wood thrush, Tree Swallows, Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Carolina Wrens, Yellow Warbler and the Common Yellowthroat Warbler

The male Common Yellowthroat Warbler is a common bird seen in this bird for the summer. We saw and heard a lot of them during our walk.

The Baltimore Oriole is Maryland's state bird. I always enjoy seeing the Orioles.

The Yellow Warbler is a beautiful bird, the male is a bright yellow with reddish streaks on it's chest.

This is the juvenile Orchard Oriole, I love hearing the birds singing.

The trail was getting muddy from all the rain we had the day before, we had to turn back near these Redbud trees.

The Wood Thrush has a beautiful song, it is a bird I can id just by it's song.

I am thankful for the simple pleasure of seeing and hearing the migrant or spring birds.

I am always thankful for your visits and the comments.

Live simple and be happy!  😊 Spread joy & happiness!

Rockbridge State Nature Preserve

Happy Thankful Thursday,

While on our trip in Ohio we found the Rockbridge State Nature Preserve. We enjoyed a great loop trail that was very birdy. The park is known for it's natural rock bridge or arch. The Wood Thrushes were everywhere, singing and just hopping along on the trail in front of us.

We started off on this trail, which was next to this farm land. Very pretty location, we could hear the cows nearby mooing. It was hard to believe this trail was going to lead us to a natural bridge.

"A walk in nature walks the soul back home." Mary Davis

We entered the woods, we saw and heard a lot of Wood Thrushes.

The Natural Bridge.

Birds seen in the forest and along the trail, Brown Thrasher, Wood Thrush, American Goldfinch, Scarlet Tanager, Common Yellowthroat Warbler,  White-throated Sparrow and more Wood Thrushes.

Some pretty wildflowers along the trail.

"Nature is the art of God." Dante Alghieri

Looking up from underneath a view of the natural bridge and a waterfall.

A beautiful sky and the farm land, a view on our walk back to our car.

A peek at the near by farm.

I am thankful for all the park lands that are set aside and are kept as green spaces and all natural.
I am thankful to be healthy to enjoy all these wonderful parks and trails for hiking.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
