Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

My hummers will be leaving soon, so I have been taking lots of photos while they are still around my yard.  I also have a pair of Houses Finches and a Monarch photos on the butterfly bush.

House Finch couple, the male is a pretty bright red.

This may be a juvenile male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. I see a small red dot on it's chest.

One morning, I looked out at my hummingbird feeder and saw a hummer hanging still and upside down from the feeder. I thought it died. I went outside and was almost to the feeder and the hummer flew away. It was very strange, I am just glad it was OK.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are all photos either from my yard or our walk on the local fire road.  I have been enjoying the Hummingbirds and lots of Goldfinches. On our fire road walk we have been seeing and hearing lots of Ovenbirds, Scarlet Tanagers and Wood Thrushes. On this day we saw a Summer Tanager.

The male Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Goldfinches

One morning I was on my deck and heard the Great Blue Herons going nuts, around 10 of them took off and flying circles around a juvenile Bald Eagle.

The Summer Tanager seen off the local fire road.

The Summer Tanager flew from one side of the fire to the other side. It is the same bird as in the photo of above just a different tree.

I think this is the American Toad. If not please let me know. I almost stepped on this toad sitting right in the middle of fire road.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Happy Monday everyone!

I am sharing the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, these are various photos I took thru the summer. By now, some my hummers are on the way south for the winter. I wish them safe travels.  I may see a straggler come thru and I will leave my feeder up just in case.

The female has all white underparts and is emerald green above.  They can hover at the flowers due to their high wingbeat frequency.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is 2-3 inches long.

These hummingbirds have heart rates up to 1260 beats per minute and have been able to fly 20 hours non-stop.

You can see they have a forked tail below and have that long bill.

A shot of the male below, it is hard to get the ruby-throat looking colorful without having some sunlight shining on this pretty hummer. They are feisty birds, I have seen them chase away larger birds if they think they have to share their feeders.

I will look forward to next spring and to see these beauties in my yard.

I hope you enjoyed my hummingbird photos and post.
As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY weekend!!!!

We have been staying closer to home lately so I have been watching my yard birds as often as I can. You never know when you may see a new bird show up. I am sharing the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, it has been the longest amount of days I have seen them here. They arrived around April 29 and as I type this post I am still seeing a few on May 19th. The Indigo Buntings are still here, my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are here and a few other regular yard birds like the House Finches, Carolina Wren, Gray Catbird and the Red-bellied Woodpecker.

A pretty Indigo Bunting in the rain.

A female Rose-breasted Grosbeak showing a little yellow on her wings.

House Finch couple, the female is in the feeder.

A Caroline Wren, there was a family of five hopping all around my yard.

A Gray Catbird enjoys the suet feeder.

The female Rose-breasted Grosbeak also loves the blueberry suet.

The male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were fighting over the suet feeder.

A Red-bellied Woodpecker up my deck railing. She is looking for peanuts.

A silhouette shot of my Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Three male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were all trying out the sunflower seed feeder. I hope you enjoyed this variety of yard birds. They are a joy for me to see and watch right from my windows. Most of these photos were taken with my Canon SX40 out my dining room window.

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

Saturday's Critters #97

Saturday's Critters #97

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

For this week's critter post I am sharing some various yard birds and some critters that were all seen in my yard during the month of September.

Above is the juvie male Scarlet Tanager seen with the dark wings.

The Gray Catbirds were seen all summer long.

The Tennessee Warbler hung around for a couple of weeks. It was enjoying the berries.

I believe this is the Eastern Wood Pewee perched on our Weeping Cherry tree.

The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird hung out in the weeping cherry tree, close to the hummingbird feeder.

A chipmunk likes to sit on top of our wood pile.

This American Bullfrog was enjoying his favorite rock next to our little pond.

A young deer maybe a female showed up in the yard on Sept 21, the bow hunting season in the woods near our house started on Sept 11th. I hope this deer stayed safe.

The Swainson's Thrush was another new yard bird for me.

A new yard bird for me, it is the Summer Tanager. It is neat comparing the Summer Tanager to my first photo above of the juvenile male Scarlet Tanager. I hope you enjoyed my yardbirds and critters. As always I appreciate my blogging friends joining in on my Saturday Critter party. Thanks for linking up and I also appreciate the nice comments. Have a Happy Weekend

Saturday's Critters #77

Saturday's Critters #77

Happy weekend, everyone!

It's the first Saturday in June and the first day of the Summer Solstice is June 21st. It has felt chilly here and we had some rain over the past week. I am looking forward to warm summer days. Ok, it's time to share your critters.  Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

For this week's critters I am sharing some of my yard birds and my grand puppy Nibbles. Soon we will be puppy sitting when my son takes a short trip to the beach, it will be like having a dog again. Some of these shots were taken back in May but I have not shared them until now.

My cute Ruby-throated Hummingbird, he is on guard watching his feeders.

A Gray Catbird has been seen around the yard.

The Indigo Bunting has been seen almost every day lately..

One of my all time favorites the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

The House Wren is one of my loudest yard birds. It seems to be fussing at something all the time..

I've been hear and seeing the Great-crested Flycatcher around my yard too.

The view from my treadmill window..a bunny and a chipmunk.

Nibbles not quite 6 months old yet, she is a little on the wild side. I hope you enjoyed this collection of yard birds and Nibbles.
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting and for linking up to my critter party. Enjoy your weekend!
