The Screech Owl went missing for a few weeks, than I heard the birds fussing one day Dec 15th. I went to look out and there he was back in our Rhododendron outside the front window.  The Titmouse, Cardinals, Chickadees and Wrens were all fussing in the same bush.

If you look closely you can find a Cardinal and partial view of a Titmouse along with the Screech Owl.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Happy December

Happy December

Wishing everyone a happy new month. My son, hubby and I  all have birthdays in December. My 62nd birthday is today, my son's 26th birthday is the 7th and hubby's 62nd birthday is on the 10th.

It is looking like winter around here, the trees are bare and the days are colder. Next week at this time we will be dog-sitting for my son. He is going on a cruise and will be enjoying some warmer weather in the Western Caribbean. We will be enjoying our two grand-dogs for a week.

I enjoy getting outside for a walk whenever the weather cooperates. On Nov 25th we had a warm day and very sunny. Hubby and I took a walk on the fire road to the lake, this walk was 2.4 miles round trip from our house.

Me and my shadow on the fire road.

This cloud reminds me of a seahorse.

We saw a couple of Buffleheads, below is the female Bufflehead duck.

The fire road and the tall pine trees.

A view of the lake and a pretty sky.

Also on Nov 25th the Screech Owl was again sitting in our rhododendron bush and banged against the window once. I love seeing this owl but I do not want it hurting itself fighting it's reflection on my windows. I keep hoping it will move on. I am not seeing the owl every day, which is a good thing.  BTW, I do have decals on the window, they do not seem to be helping.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Happy Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I've been trying to go in order with my photos and posts.  But, I am behind a little. We had our first snow on Nov 15th. It seems early for snow, we did not measure the snow but it looked close to 6 inches of the cold wet white stuff.  I am not a snow or winter lover, I would be happy never to see snow again.  Here are some of my photos taken that day and birds seen during the week of Nov 12th through Nov 17th.

Nov 12th, the male Purple Finch comes and goes, not seen every day but still often.

Nov 14th, the Blue Jays stop by looking for peanuts.

Nov 14th, the Red-breasted Nuthatches are being seen every day.

For Skywatch , I have my snowy skies.

Nov 15th our first snow, accumulation was around 6 inches. Our yard ends behind the tall pine trees and the woods off to the far right are part of the reservoir's watershed.

Nov 15th, the male Northern Cardinal looks pretty in the snow.

Nov 15th, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has been showing up more often lately.

As are all the other photos, this was taken from my dining room window. I did go out and make a path around the deck to my bird feeders a few times, it seemed as soon as I came back inside the deck was covered again.

Nov 17th , a female Purple Finch with a view of the back side of a White-throated Sparrow.

Nov 17th, my fist sighting of a Pine Siskin on our messy deck. The wind and snow storm had the seeds going all over the place.

Nov 17th, I heard some banging on our front den window, I went to look and found the Screech Owl flying into the window, it did it a few times and then went and sat on another branch and just stared. I am thrilled the Screech Owl has been seen in our front yard for over a month now. But, at this point I kind of wish it would move on before it hurts itself flying into our window.

I am thankful our first snow melted quickly, our house was warm and our electric stayed on.
A thankful heart is a happy heart.
am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Our World, My World

Hello and Happy Monday!

Officially Veterans Day is Nov 11th, but today is the day workers in the USA celebrate Veterans Day. I am thankful to all those who serve.

We were happy to watch our son's dogs Nibbles and Chewy for a long weekend. I think they had a little doggie vacation too.  We took them for walks on the fire road once or twice a day. This walk is about 1 mile round trip from our house. We have many fire roads around our neighborhood for walking, at this time of the year we have to watch out for the deer hunters.

Grand-dogs Nibbles on the left and Chewy on the right go for a walk.

Below some various images of the sky, the woods next to our house and the grand-dogs.

The mosaic below shows some of the red maple trees along the driveway this fall and the rhododendron and the window where the Screech Owl likes to sit.  As of 11/09/18 I have still heard and seen this owl in our front yard.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Saturday's Critters #255

Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

As of Oct 25th I was still seeing the Screech Owl in my front yard. A few times it was seen outside my window that I call my Treadmill window. I have posted often about the birds I have seen out my "treadmill" window.  It is actually our den window facing the front yard.

Oct 17th, during the  evening I heard a bang, the poor owl must have flown into the window. Or he was chased into the window. Not the best photo below, but you can see the owl's wings looked a little ragged. But, it was Ok and left a little later.

Another evening I heard the owl calling before I saw it again out the same window. It likes sitting in our rhododendron bush which is right next to the window and house. Sorry, these owl photos were taking from my hallway looking toward the window so I would not spook the owl.

The weekend of Oct 26th we were dog watching for my son, he went on trip to Salem Ma for a long weekend. We enjoy the company of our grand-dogs, Nibbles and Chewy.

Chewy is on the left and Nibbles is on the right.

Oct 25th the Painted Lady butterfly on the butterfly bush.

Oct 23rd, the chipmunk filling his cheeks.

Oct 28th the Screech Owl was back looking into my window.  I had to lighten this photo, it was getting dark out and I did not use a flash.

Oct 31st, the Screech Owl is again sitting in the rhododendron in the evening.  This photo was taken using ISO 3200 and I still had to lighten in my photo program.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Happy November

Hello,

Happy Thursday and Happy November everyone!

The days and months are flying by, or is it just me.  I am sharing a few favorite  October images in a mosaic.

"Wake up each day and be thankful for life."

It has been a few years since I have seen the Red-breasted Nuthatch in my yard. My mosaic below shows both the Red-breasted on the left and the White-breasted Nuthatch on the left seen on 10/17/18.

Having the Screech Owl visit my yard in October made my month.  :)

Always thankful for the blue sky.

I am thankful for the right to vote, get out there peeps!  I am thankful for today and every day!

Saturday's Critters #253

Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are birds from my yard.  I did have an exciting night when a Screech Owl showed up outside my bedroom window. I was alerted by a couple of Titmouse fussing at the owl. The warblers were still in the yard eating berries as of Oct 8th.

10/8/18....The Eastern Screech Owl outside my window, this was the second time I saw the owl right outside my window.

I pushed down the blind just enough to take a few photos. I did not want to spook the owl away. This is a link to the first Screech owl yardbird

10/5/18....The male Black-throated Blue Warbler was enjoying the Devil's Walking Stick berries.  I also saw the female but she was a little shy.

10/5/18...Two Cape May Warblers also loving the berries.

Above and below more of the Cape May Warblers.

Another shot of the Black-throated Blue Warbler.

The female Red-bellied Woodpecker on the suet ball feeder.
