1. For my post, I have flashback images I am sharing various Egrets. They are wading birds with long legs and most likely seen by water and wetlands. Below I have the Great Egret.

The Great Egret, stands tall around 3 ft, they have yellow bills and black legs and feet.

The Great Egret feeds on fish, frogs and small reptiles.

The breed in colonies, in trees that are close to lake and wetlands.

2. The Cattle Egret, are stocky and around 22 inches long. During breeding season the adults develop the orange-buff plumes on the back, breast and crown.

The Cattle Egrets have a yellow bill and yellowish legs.

3.  The Snowy Egret, is all white with a black bill and yellow lores. They have black legs and yellow feet.

Below you can compare the size difference between the Great Egret and a Snowy Egret.

4.  The Reddish Egret, is 27-32 inches long. They have a pinkish bill with a black tip.

The adult has a slate blue body and a reddish head and neck.

Saturday's Critters #154

Saturday's Critters #154

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

If you are in the area Space Coast Birding festival  Jan 25th - 30th. The festival sounds like a great time. Check out the link for all the activities planned. I have enjoyed visiting the area including Cape Canaveral National Seashore, Merritt Island NWR, Cocoa Beach and Titusville.

More from Merritt Island, the birding at the wildlife refuge is great. I am sure we will be visiting here as often as we can. These images are straight out the camera only resized for my blog.  I was pleased with my zoomed images of the Bald Eagle, it was perched on an electric pole with a fish.

Reddish Egret

Reddish Egret, maybe Caspian terns and possibly Dowitchers?

Green Heron, can you find a spiders web?

A blurry look at a Manatee nose and part of it's face.

Saturday's Critters #107

I hope everyone has recovered from their New Year's Celebration. Again I wish everyone all the best in 2016..

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

I am sharing a few of my favorite lifers seen during the 2015 year. My lifer list is now 455. Considering how many birds are in the world 455 is a small number, I can say it was lots of fun looking for these new birds and seeing new places.

The Common Redpoll seen in a local Maryland park in January 2015

The Reddish Egret seen at Merritt Island NW in Florida April 2015

The Florida Scrub Jay seen in various spots in Florida April 2015

The Gull-billed Tern seen at the Edwin Forsythe NWR in New Jersey, July 2015

The Varied Thrush seen at the HOH Rainforest, Washington Oct, 2015

The Black Turnstone seen in Ediz Hook, Port Angeles, Washington Oct 2015.

The next three images are for Teresa's  of Eden Hills and her new meme and information can be found here  Friday Hunt . I hope you can join in and have some fun with her fun photo hunt.

My first entry for the letter "a" below.

For my "A" I am sharing the Rhinoceros Auklet seen during our whale watching trip out of Port Angeles, Washington. The Rhinoceros Auklet is one of 6 Auklets that can be seen in or around the Pacific Northwest or up to Alaska. Auklets are marine birds with short wings, webbed feet and compact bodies.

2. For my weeks favorite photo below

My favorite photo of the week was of this piggie squirrel on my deck railing. He just looks so cute.

3. Celebrate with my Great-nephew Neill

Merritt Island NWR

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts.

Happy Easter & Happy Passover to all!

I am sharing more from our Florida trip, so far I have only showed the first two days of our two trip.. Beware of trip photos overload..SORRY! I have mentioned before if there is a wildlife refuge near our travels we will always try to visit them.. Merritt Island NWR has a great visitor center and an awesome wildlife drive.

One of my all time favorite birds is the Painted Bunting.. it was found right outside the Merritt Island Visitor Center..

Various flowers, oranges and buttterflies seen around the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.

Above one of my Florida lifers.. the Reddish Egret.. egrets are not always white.

The Reddish Egret is a beautiful wader..wow look at the colors on it's bill. It was cool to watch this bird dance around.

There does not seem to be a problem with the American Coot population in Florida. We saw them everywhere we went..

Above are some of the Merritt Island NWR birds we saw: various ducks like the Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, American Avocet, Pied-billed Grebe, Common Moorhen, Glossy ibis, Green Heron, possible Boat-tailed Grackle

I hope you enjoyed my post. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I appreciate the nice comments..
