I do love my walks with nature, Miney and my hubby. Below are images from our local fire road trails, the NCR bike trail and I am sharing some of the bird that my Merlin App picked up on our walks.

1. Our front lawn with the blooming rhododendrons and the red maples and some tall pine trees. Miney was looking for the bunnies.

Merlin picked up the sounds of 27 birds on my Prettyboy walk with Miney.

Part of our rhododendron fell over this past winter from heavy snow.

2. On this day we drove to the local Hemlock Gorge trail.  We saw lots of the Dames Rocket blooms.

I am not sure if this is a Spotted Sandpiper or the Solitary Sandpiper?

3. The wildflowers were pretty seen along the Hemlock Gorge trail.

The Gunpowder River at Hemlock Gorge.

4. My morning walk with Miney, on the local fire road at Prettyboy.  The Siberian Iris in our yard are looking pretty.

5. The NCR trail is one of our favorites for walking. Pretty wildflowers and wild azaleas, Miney and the Eastern Towhee, a Gray Catbird and views of the river.

I seem to be able to find the female Eastern Towhee, they tend to singing loudly.

Birds heard on my Merlin App while walking on the NCR trail in Parkton.

6. A view of the rail to trail called NCR trail in Parkton Maryland.

A view from the NCR trail.

7. Another day, another walk with Miney on the local fire road at Prettyboy!.

Bonus and Birthday wishes coming up on July 3rd for our Granddaughter Sophie.. Happy 2nd Birthday Sophie, we love you!

Happy Father's Day to my hubby and son and all the Dads in Blogland. I hope your day is special!

I am sharing my walks, my favorite parks, NCR bike trail and of course our local Prettyboy fire road walk with Miney. I have been enjoying all the wildflowers, the spring birds are arriving. All are my simple pleasure and bring me joy.

1. Hashawha Nature Center walk, the wildflowers were looking pretty. I found an Eastern Kingbird sitting on a wire that goes across the lake. The kingbird's tail has white on the very bottom. I captured a Carolina Wren, you can almost hear him singing.

2. NCR trail Parkton Maryland, the best bird I heard and saw was the Baltimore Oriole.  The white-throated Sparrows were still hanging around, the Northern Parula was singing often.

3. My backyard bunny is a cutie!

4. My walk with Miney on the Prettyboy fire road, I love seeing the Pink Lady Slippers.

It is wonderful to see all the greenery, Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.

5. While the Pink lady Slippers are blooming I tend to walk on the fire road in their direction. Our Rhododendrons are blooming, we lost some branches this past winter. The snow was too heavy and they fell over.

I like using the Merlin app on my fire road walks, the Blackburnian Warbler was nice to hear.  I have seen them previous years around the Prettyboy watershed.

6. Miney loves her walks, her nose is to the ground. So many smells for her, she picks up speed if she smells a fox.

7. The Bluebirds are using a birdhouse on our deck, the male Bluebird does not like the woodpeckers. I have seen him trying to chase off the birds from the feeders.

Below is from my walk again with Miney on the local Prettyboy fire road.  The Northern Parula are breeders here in the watershed.  I am not sure if the Black and White Warbler was a resident or migrant.

8. Walk with Miney on the local fire road at Prettyboy.

I was happy to hear the Yellow-billed Cuckoo calling, it is nice to see the birds returning to our area.

I hope you are all enjoying nature and getting outdoors walking.

1. Our walk on the local fire road with hubby and Miney. Hubby has his favorite rest stop, Miney is like the Energizer Bunny, she can keep going on and on.

2. Back at home on the deck and on our roof, the Peacock always feels at home.

3. I have been seeing a Northern Flicker pecking away at our grass and weeds, I assume finding bugs to eat.

4. The Chipping Sparrows were one of the early Spring birds to arrive in my yard. They are cute and have a pretty sound too.

5. The Pine Warbler is one of my favorite yard birds, the male is seen below with his pretty yellow color. Images are new, they may look like I have shown on previous posts.

6. Miney is always on guard while sitting out on our deck.

7. One morning, we took our walk on the local George's Creek trail. George's Creek dumps into the Prettyboy Reservoir. It was a good morning, filled with bird songs, my Merlin App picked up 36 different bird songs.  It was a mixed of our winter birds like the Ruby-crowned Kinglet bottom left photo, White-throated Sparrow, Brown Creeper and some summer birds like the Gray Catbird, Barn Swallows, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher top left photo, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Common Yellowthroat and Louisiana Waterthrush.

The Merlin App was on while we hiked the George's Creek trail. It was neat to hear the wild turkeys across the creek.

8. On our walk we saw some wildflowers and ran into one of our neighbors Linda out walking her two labradors. Linda pointed out the trout lilies in the top photo on left, bottom left are the May Apples they were not in bloom at the time , there were lots of the purple violets and dandelions.

On the NCR bike trail , I saw and heard the Belted Kingfisher along with some other regular birds.
