As usual, I am sharing my dog Miney and our walks on the trails, birds from my yard and the local watershed fire roads.

1. I am addicted to the Merlin App, I have it on during everyone of my walks with Miney.  I included one of my Goldfinch photos with the Merlin app screenshot.

Below one of my Cardinal photos is added to the Merlin Screenshot.

2. July 8, walk with Miney on our local Prettyboy fire road. This local fire road trail is mostly covered with pine needles, which makes walking so much easier. The weeds and grasses are taking over some of our other local trails. They need to come and cut the grass on the trails, I am sure the ticks and bugs love the long grass.

" A walk in nature walks the soul back home."

Above I included the Chipping Sparrow image and below is the House Finch image.

3. I am sticking to the same trail for walking Miney, we walk till we come to the downed tree and then turn around and go back home.

"An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day."

The  Scarlet Tanager is a breeder in the Prettyboy Watershed, I can recognize their calls while I am out walking Miney.

The Pine Warbler is another breeder in our local Prettyboy Watershed, I hear them calling off the trail and they sometimes visit my deck for some food.

4. Miney loves her walk on the fire road!

You can see the reservoir is still low, the water usually is up to the trees. The Killdeer are enjoying the muddy area and the geese love the grasses that are growing.

5. A zoomed in look at a Killdeer, I saw 8-10 Killdeer running around the muddy area.

Killdeer

A Bald Eagle spooked the Killdeer flying in and making the Killdeer take off and fly around. The Eagle landed in a tree and the Killdeer went back to their spot on the mud.

Prettyboy Merlin birds, from our walk to the reservoir.

I love to share my birds photos, nature photos from my walks with my dog Miney. Bird watching is one of my simple pleasures. I am still over a month behind sharing my photos.

1. Below a walk in my neighborhood with Miney, I head to the fire road that goes to the local Prettyboy watershed.

As I head up the road I see a deer, luckily Miney missed seeing the deer. She would have wanted to chase after the deer. Sorry the photo is blurry, it is hard to take photos while holding Miney's leash.

My Merlin Birds heard on our fire road walk.

The Great-crested Flycatcher is another breeder in our area and neighborhood. I hear them often on my walks with Miney in the Prettyboy watershed.

2. In my yard, I like to sit and enjoy the birds that visit my feeders.  The Tufted Titmouse, the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, and the Red-bellied Woodpeckers are seen every day.

3. My Merlin App birds from my deck, one early morning. Just a few minutes and I am hearing some great birds.

4. Below is a photo of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, it is another bird that is a breeder in the Prettyboy watershed. There have been times that I can hear them around my yard and in the forest that surrounds our house.

5. The House Wren is one of the loudest birds in my back yard.

Below are two Merlin App birds lists from my walk with Miney on the local fire road.

6. The Cedar Waxwings are one of my favorite birds to see and hear in my back yard. Their sounds easily recognizable, it is a high pitch call.

7. Our granddaughter Sophie's birthday party was a fun time.  Except for the extreme heat, the water slide was a hit with the kiddies.

8. Below I am sharing two of the Vireos, both are seen and heard in my yard and neighborhood.  The Red-eyed Vireo top photo is pretty bird and has a loud call. The White-eyed Vireo bottom photo, is seen and heard in the Prettyboy watershed around our home.

Lately I am sharing a mish-mash of photos from my back yard and my walks with Miney and Hubby.

Click on images for better viewing.

1. The American Goldfinches one of my regular back yard bird visiting the thistle feeder.

Below a female Goldfinch, waiting for her turn on the feeder.

2. The Red-bellied Woodpecker, lately I have been watching a family of four of these birds coming and going to my feeder. They love the little peanut suet balls.

The Gray Squirrels will take over my feeders and empty the bird feeders in the blink of an eye.

A juvenile Red-bellied Woodpecker, one of the family of 4 I have been seeing on my deck.

3. A walk with Miney and hubby on the NCR bike trail in Parkton Md. I like seeing the Bee Balm blooming at the start of our walk. Along the trail we had 3 sightings of deer, luckily Miney only saw one. I think Miney would chase them if she could. I did see one Great Blue Heron, standing in the river it was mostly hidden by some tree branches.

One of the deer we saw off the NCR bike trail.

4. On the drive home from the walk, I had to stop the car and let this group of Canada Geese cross the road.

5. A walk with Miney on the local Prettyboy fire road.

The Merlin app picked the Ovenbird as my bird of the day, you can see above and my Ovenbird collage below.  They are breeders in the Prettyboy watershed area around our neighborhood.

This downed tree was my turn around spot and head home.

6. Back at home after our walk, I captured a male Eastern Bluebird standing on top of one of our birdhouses.  I think the couple has started on a new nest.

Some of the flowers on our deck, they attract the hummingbirds and butterflies.

"Make the present moment into the most wonderful moment of your life."

7. Another walk with Miney on the local fire road at Prettyboy.

I hope you enjoyed coming along on my walks and the birds and critters I am sharing today.
