Happy Birthday to me! I hope you will join in with your critters and celebrate my birthday with me. I am sharing more photos from our week at my sister's place. We walked on the beach just about every day. Below are some Sanderlings foraging for food in the surf.

Below are three different bird species, from left to right are the Black-bellied Plover, Willet and a Ruddy Turnstone.

The Ruddy Turnstones can usually be found near the rock jetty.

Not the clearest shot, but I zoomed in on the juvenile Black-bellied Plover. It is a cute bird.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

Saturday's Critters #157

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

Hi everyone, are you ready for Christmas? In case my blogging friends are away this holiday week, I wish everyone a blessed Merry Christmas.

On Nov 4th,  hubby and I visited the Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County Florida. Most of the birds were far away, even for my super zoom Canon SX40.

A snowy Egret and a Great Egret wading into the Gulf of Mexico.

A large group of Terns with some Brown Pelicans on a sandbar in the gulf.

We saw numerous Brown Pelicans near the beach and pier.

A couple of gulls and Pelicans. I love the beachy colors on the photo below, the pretty blue waters and sand.

Below possibly a Willet and in the distance a Great Blue Heron and a gull?

White Pelicans

Below is distant look at various Terns and a large group of Black Skimmers.

A view from the pier, the pelicans and terns in flight.

On the pier the Snowy Egrets are catching some free food from the fishermen.

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

Ocean City-Assateague Part 2

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

For this week's Good Fence and Skywatch Friday memes I am sharing more from our May trip to Ocean City, Maryland and Assateague Island.

We started our morning with the sunrise from the beach in front of our hotel.

The full moon will be setting, seen from the beach. It was a pretty colored moon.

Beach fence is buried under the sand. As you can see we had the beach to ourselves.

Assateague boardwalk and trail. For Tex's Good Fences, I hope the shot above counts as my fence entry.

I am not positive but I think above are the Royal Terns. I was also thinking they could be the Caspian Terns, but my field guide shows a bit of black on the Caspian bill. One Tern on the left side has a thinner bill.

The trail with a view of the sky and way in the distance is one of the Assateague wild ponies.

A closer view of the pony. On this Anniversary trip we saw the Chincoteague wild ponies and the Assateague wild ponies.

A Green Heron seen at Assateague Island.

We walked on a few trails that included a boardwalk. I like this view of the trail, sky and tree.

Some of the Assateague Island birds we saw on the trail and in the forest. Large image is the egrets, top right is the Tricolored Heron, Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plover, Willet, and bottom left is a Eastern Towhee we saw in the woods.  I hope you enjoyed my post and images. And as always thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. Have a happy weekend!

A mixed post our trip photos and today a Happy Birthday to my son!

I am sharing more birds and scenery from the Outer Banks and our stay at Nags Head, North Carolina..  The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful and we had some warm 70 degree days.. The birding was awesome..ducks, swans and pelicans were everywhere.

Above a series of the first evening's sunset and the moon...

The Willet and sunrise above was seen on the  beach in front of our hotel..

Above is the Bodie Island lighthouse and some birds we saw at the Pea Island NWR.  Seen above are the American Avocet, Tundra Swans, American Wigeon, possibly an American Pipit and Song Sparrow?

The Ruddy Duck population seems to be doing very well, we must have seen thousands of them.. I like their cute upturned tail...

We heard a Rail twice near or under this boardwalk...a pretty view of the Bodie Island Lighthouse. This was a wonderful spot to see the birds..

A mosaic of various photos of Brian over the years.. Today happens to be my son's 22nd birthday.. Happy Birthday Brian!
