I am away from my computer at this time, I want thank everyone who links up and shares their critters,  to everyone who visits and for all the nice comments.  I will be visiting and commenting as soon as I can.

1. These photos and critters are from our Arizona trip. I am still trying to catch up sharing more recent photos. On April 27th after we left the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, we decided to check out the adjacent Reid Park. We walked the loop around the lake and of course I was looking at all the birds and critters.

2. Below are a few turtles, a Cormorant and some domestic Geese.

3. A view of the lake, pretty sky and some ducks and pigeons.

4. Below are two hummingbirds hard to tell their id due to the lighting and angle of the photos. The Gila Woodpecker and a Great Horned Owl on a nest.

5. Not sure but this could be a Costa's Hummingbird.

6. This looks like the female Gila Woodpecker, I think it looks very similar to our Red-bellied Woodpecker. There is also a Golden-fronted Woodpecker and a Gilded Flicker that are similar.

7.  I was able to zoom in on a nest in a distant tree, It wasn't until I was home looking on the computer that I noticed I captured a profile of the Great Horned Owl sitting on the nest.  I see the ear tufts close to the top right side of the photo.

8. This cute dog was patiently waiting for his/her human to continue on their walk.

9. A couple of Cormorants were swimming in the lake.

On the morning of April 24th, we stopped at the nearby Meadow Garden Park in Green Valley.  We were just here the evening before, it was so nice it deserved a second visit before we left the area.

1. One of my Arizona lifers below is the Costa's Hummingbird, it has a lovely purple gorget, looking like a necklace on it's neck. The flowers are beautiful, such a wonderful variety of blooms and colors.

2. A larger image of the Costa's Hummingbird.

3. Below the lifers the Abert's Towhee and possibly the  Verdin in the top row. In the bottom row I have the Vermilion Flycatcher and the Gila Woodpecker.

4. The Vermilion Flycatcher is a beauty, I was seeing this bird often during our Arizona travels.

5. More beautiful flowers seen in the gardens.

6. I like this poem "HOPE" by Eileen Valentino Flaxman, the words speak to me.  The Gambel's Quail perched on the back of the bench, saving you a seat. The Curve-bill Thrasher had a nest nearby, I watched it fly in and out of a bush.

7. Have a seat and enjoy all the flowers and birds in the gardens.

8. Another shot of the Costa's Hummingbird and some more pretty flowers.

A Desert Spiny Lizard

I have a few more days of our Arizona trip to share, I hope you enjoyed this post, the birds, flowers and the lizard.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! May 27th, a day to honor those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.

After our short visit to Page Arizona we headed to Green Valley Arizona and our next place to stay. This hotel was only an half hour drive to the Madera Canyon and some great birdwatching. I added more than a few lifers sitting in one spot in just a short time.

1. Below two lifers for me, top is the Acorn Woodpecker and below is the Arizona Woodpecker both seen at the Madera Canyon.

2.  These are all Broad-billed Hummingbirds.

Another look at the Broad-billed Hummingbird. It has a red dark tipped bill and is a vivid green color.

3.  Below are lifers, the  Mexican Jay and the Black-headed Grosbeak. Others are the Lesser Goldfinches and it looks like there is a Pine Siskin below the male Lesser Goldfinch. Bottom right is a Brown-crested Flycatcher, another lifer.

4. Below the Yellow female Summer Tanager was seen at the Madera Canyon and the Red male Tanager was seen at the Paton Center.  I am not sure if the red male is a Summer Tanager or the Hepatic Tanager.

5.  At the Paton Center for Hummingbirds, I captured the Gila Woodpecker a lifer and the Ladder-backed Woodpecker.

6. One of my favorite lifers was the Lazuli Bunting, a beautiful and colorful bird.

7. Another look at the Lazuli Bunting, it has turquoise colors, orange breast and a white belly.

8. Below is my lifer, a pair of the Gray Hawks.

A better look at the Gray Hawk couple, in better lighting. The are gray in color and have white bands on the tails.

More from this day to come, we went from place to place sightseeing and birdwatching.

Edit: A short note, I had this post and more ready to go thankfully before my fall. I am healing the swelling and the bruises on my face and nose are looking better. My hand is still sore and swollen around my thumb/wrist area where I have had previous surgeries putting my thumb back into the joint. I just wish it was not my right hand. Thanks for all the kind well wishes.
