SWF>>Curacao

I am linking my skies up with Skywatch Friday.

These are more Curacao skies. On this day we watched the Frigatebirds at the Sea Aquarium in Curacao. I also posted about the Magnificent Frigatebrds on my post below.  It was another beautiful sky and a gorgeous day on the island.  We enjoyed watching the birds and watched some tourists who paid for a dolphin encounter.

Above, one of the aquarium trainers was feeding the sharks when the frigatebirds flew over his head looking for hand outs. The water is so clear even from a distance you can see the sharks swimming near the trainer.

The visitors were taught how to train the dolphins with hand signals. It was neat just to watch, the dolphins seemed very eager to show off too. I will do another critter post on more of the dolphins.

This was a cool aquarium to visit, with it being right next to the ocean.

The Pelicans were also hanging around the aquarium, they must all know where to get the free and easy food. At the aquarium, I also saw Terns, more of the Bananaquits and a Green Heron.

The frigatebirds were coming close the trainers hand for the fish.

The blue sky along with the pretty water color makes for a gorgeous scene.

back at our hotel we took a walk along the beach toward the Hilton which was just about next door to our place. This is actually looking back at our resort and hotel.

Back at our resort, we watched the sunset. This was probably the cloudiest day we saw while on our vacation.

A combination of the skies reflection and the resort had these lights that changed colors and reflection pink light on the sand.

I hope you enjoyed my skies and to see more gorgeous skies from around the world
Please visit Skywatch Friday.  Thanks to Sylvia and Sandy. Also, thank you for stopping by to see my post.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.

More of Curacao

I am linking up with Favorite Fotos thanks to Lydia at Where the Wild Things Were

I used Picasa to create these mosaics with my Curacao vacation photos. If you like, I have more vacation photos on my travel sight Curacao-vacation . I hope you enjoy some of Curacao beautiful scenes. The island and people of Curacao were beautiful and the so were the birds. Hubby and I had a wonderful vacation, I just wish it lasted longer. May 4 was our 22nd wedding anniversary so this was like a anniversary trip for us.

In the mosaic above I have the beach in front of our resort, some bougainvillea seen around the resort, bottom larger left shot is of Curacao's capitol Williamstad, a shot of the beach at Cas Abou,  and bottom right is the resort pool and the ocean.

On our second day we used the Marriott's free shuttle into to the city of Williamstad. The buildings are painted beautiful colors. There are many shops and restaurants to explore and we crossed the floating bridge pictured above to check out the local floating market. The floating market is like a farmers market with local merchants selling fruits and  vegetables.

On one of the days we rented a car and drove around the island sightseeing. The beach called Cas Abou is favored for snorkeling was one of our stops.

Curacao birds above are the Pink Flamingo, Green Parakeets, Bananquit, Yellow Warbler and the bottom right is the National bird the Troupial.

The National  bird of Curaco is the Troupial and was a common bird seen at our resort and all around the island.

These parakeets were also seen around different part of the island.

Curacao birds and critters

For my Camera Critters I have some birds and lizards seen around our Curacao hotel.

Sometimes while hubby was snorkeling right off the beach at our resort, I was walking around the hotels grounds checking out all the birds and the lizards. During our vacation I picked up a few new life birds and saw some new critters.

One of the many iguanas seen around the hotel.

Above is a Tropical Mockingbird.

These Bare-eyed Pigeons were always hanging around the outside restaurant tables. I guess looking for leftovers. The Bare-eyes look like a bulls-eye to me.

Above is a Whiptail Lizard, they were quick to move out of your way. I love the colorful tail.

The Troupial above were also hanging around the outside tables. Sometimes landing on the tables and stealing a sugar packet and flying off with it. I think all of birds in Curacao love Sugar.

I hope you enjoyed my post and to see more cute and wonderful critters please visit: Camera Critters
Thanks to Misty Dawn for hosting and thank you for stopping by to see my post. I hope everyone has a Happy weekend!
