Around the yard_Oct 14

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

My entries for Tex's Good Fences, NF Winged and Skywatch Friday.. These are some images from around the yard during the last week or so.. The moon shots were taken early on Sunday morning..the birds are seen everyday in or around my yard..

For NF Winged I have a couple of woodpeckers from my yard.. The Redbellied Woodie always lets me know when he is around, I will put out some peanuts for him..

I think I spooked the Pileated Woodie away from my yard today.  He went squawking across the yard and landed on one of larger trees in the back yard..

The next two shots are for Skywatch Friday..  The moon setting on Sunday morning...

A colorful sunrise on Sunday morning..

Looking down my neighbors driveway, they have a beautiful and colorful trees. The autumn colors have been looking gorgeous..My neighbors fence was a nice capture for Tex's Good Fences meme.

When we moved into our house almost 25 years ago hubby planted a lot of pine trees. They have grown very large and have become a safe haven for my yard birds to hide.. On this shot you can see our fence and neighbors fence on the other side..

Some Autumn trees around our lake, the skies were gray but the colorful trees are pretty.  Not a bad day in the neighborhood.I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Matthews-Reeser Bird Sanctuary

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

These are all photos taken while doing some early morning birding along the Estes Lake trail..The trail also includes the Matthew-Reeser Bird Sanctuary.. I read some EBIRD reports before leaving home, I knew this place would be great for bird sightings..

An Osprey sighted over the Estes Lake..

The shot above and the one below are perfect for both my Good Fence and Skywatch  entries..

The trail is busy with walkers and bike riders..and birders..

For NF Winged: I am not sure but I thought the bird blending in with rocks above could be a Solitary Sandpiper..

Another NF winged bird I was having trouble iding..My thoughts were a Wilson's Warbler only because I saw one nearby..

I like this shot even though it is not clear, but the Mountain Chickadee in flight looks cool.. LOL, the focus on the pine cones and needles turned out..

Another shot for NF Winged..I call this shot above The Swallow Bush!  How many swallows can you find? You can click on the photo to make it bigger.

A shot of the trail sky and our shadows..but at this time we had the trail to ourselves..

I took this shot in a wooded area near the trail, I like the view of the mountain and lake.. I had to watch my back, there was a bull elk resting behind me and a little off to my right..

I think this Elk was watching me watch the birds.. I was hoping dear hubby was keeping an eye on the Elk. Just in case he started moving towards me..

I do not think this duck was worrying about the Elk..

It was a pretty morning for our walk on the trail.  The sky was just beautiful. Above we are heading back to the visitor center parking and our car..More fences and more sky views!   I hope you enjoyed my photos from Estes Park, Colorado..

I hope you enjoyed my post and photos

Around the yard_Sept 30

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

I wanted to share the pretty hibiscus plant on our deck, some of our yard birds, the sky during our walk to the lake and the sunset.  These images are from the past week up to yesterday.. I was  finally happy to see some fall birds moving thru our yard and neighborhood..

For Tex's Good Fence's I am hoping my deck railing will count as a fence, at least it keeps us from falling of the deck.. My hubby's pride and joy the Hibiscus plant. He has been babying this plant for three years now.. It comes into the house as soon the the temperatures go too low..

For NF Winged....here are some of my yard birds the last week and half.. A Cape May Warbler, Titmouse, Cardinal, Red-eyed Vireo, Possible Eastern Wood PeWee and a White-breasted Nuthatch.

For Skywatch Friday...the sky during our walk to the lake this weekend.. While hubby and I were enjoying the view of the lake, we heard this loud splash into the water and off flies this Osprey.. A great bird for the neighborhood.

For Tex's Good Fence's I have the neighbors gate and fence, their driveway runs along side of the fireroad where we take our walks to the lake..Some ferns and berries along the fireroad.

The sunset one evening this past week.  I love the colorful skies..

The orange sky in the mosaic above turned this pretty pink a little later. I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.. It was a good week and weekend..

Colorado Part III

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

So far, I have only shown photos from the first couple of days  of our vacation on Colorado.. I have so many more photos of scenery, animals and birds. I hope you do not mind tagging along on my trip once again..

We stopped at the Grand Lake Lodge for lunch, this is the view from the front porch. I see I found a good fence around the swimming pool.

A view of the pretty sky and clouds,  gorgeous mountain scenery. Does a rock wall count as a fence?

I like this view of the mountains, the tundra plants and the fence.. I was snapping all kinds of fences in the Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park..

I am not sure if this is a crow or a common raven.. But, we found a few of them near the Alpine Visitor Center..

This was a trail located at the Medicine Bow Curve overlook.. Hubby and I walked along some, I was looking for the White-tailed Ptarmigan.  No luck finding the bird.

This trail is called the Tundra Communities trail...located at the Alpine Visitor Center.. elevation 12,000 feet..The White-tailed Ptarmigan can be found there in the winter.. hiding in little snow caves..The sky on this shot above is beautiful.

A small lake scene along the Trail Ridge Road. In the corner of the photo you can make out another fence for Tex's Good Fence post..I told you I was finding all kinds of fences in the park..

I am not sure what kind of bird this is, we saw a flock of different birds moving along the trail we were walking on..It seems to have a rusty colored breast, too much for a bluebird or a robin?

We were on our vacation during the time of the supermoon.. This photo I believe was taken a day before the actual full moon..

I hope you enjoyed my post and photos

Colorado Part II

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

As you can see I am not very original with my titles.. I have so many photos from Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park.. Visiting the national parks in the USA is something hubby and I love to do.. The scenery is usually beautiful and I can always find birds and critters.. And for this post I also found some fences for Tex's Good Fence meme and some sky shots for Skywatch Friday. And a cute Ruby-crowned Kinglet for NF Winged..  I hope you enjoy!

The historic site in the park had many fences that did not go unnoticed by me..

Two brown dots way in the distance are another female moose and her calf. I stayed behind this fence, I knew this would look good for my Good Fence post..

More views of the Rocky Mountains and yes another fence..

A Ruby-Crowned Kinglet was seen while hiking on a trail next to the Colorado River.

For two nights we enjoyed watching the sunset over the Granby Lake.

The moon was beautiful during our two nights stay on the west side of the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park.

I hope you enjoyed my post and photos

The Conservancy_Part II

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

Good Morning and happy Thursday! For this week's post I am including some sky captures for Skywatch Friday and some fence shots for Tex's Good Fence memes..Some other shots were of the moon from my yard and of course I have something winged for Monica's NF Winged.    Except for the moon shot all the other were taken at the Howard County Conservancy in Woodstock, Md.

This was a shot of the moon setting early in the morning last weekend.. but the moon was just a crescent the last time I saw it.. our mornings have been cloudy lately.

This shot is looking thru the fence at the community garden during our visit to the Howard County Conservancy..I  love these pretty flowers and colors.

Looking down one of the rows at the community garden, I see corn, tomatoes and the pretty sunflowers. There is also a fence attached to the gate..

This Tiger Swallowtail butterfly shot is for NF Winged.

Some of the birds we saw at the Conservancy..an Indigo Bunting, Eastern Bluebird and a House Wren. They were all nice to pose on or near fences..

The blue sky and the sunflowers make a pretty sky shot.. The sky was clear and blue on the day of our visit..

Back at home I saw this pretty view of the sky and clouds walking to my mailbox.  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Around the Neighborhood_082014

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences  and NF Winged

For this week's post I am sharing a hodgepodge of images.. Some for Tex's Good Fence's, also for Monica's NF Winged and more of hubby's photos for Skywatch Friday..

For NF Winged I have one of my yard bird pretties..a female American Goldfinch.

From our walk at the local park another NF Winged shot a couple of moths. Or are they Red Admirals?  Edit: Karolina was first to mention my moths are actually Silver-spotted Skippers. Thanks to all who helped with id.

For my entry for Tex's Good Fence meme,  I captured a two-fer fence. I tried so hard to focus on the Barn Swallows on the chained link fence behind the first wire fence. Focusing was not going to happen for me. :(

I like this shot for all the Queen Anne's Lace in front of the wire fence.

I am pretty sure this is the Eastern Phoebe, but I could be wrong.. Ken from rosy-finch.blogspot suggest that my bird above is the Pewee.  I think he is right on with the id..

Hubby is sharing his sunset captures at our lake..

I hope you enjoyed my hodge podge of a post and my photos. I always appreciate you stopping by for a visit and for commenting.. I am behind in sending some thank you emails, I hope you do not mind.. But, I do thank you all for the wonderful comments..
