Happy Thankful Thursday!


The Purple Coneflowers are looking pretty, the flowers around my yard make me happy.  🙂

It's the little things in life, notice them! 💓

" Kindness is simple. It is seeing the good in everyone and celebrating it." 

Is this  a Pine Warbler or maybe a juvenile Northern Parula. I saw this bird in a tree/vine at the end of our driveway. Another day I saw a Black & White Warbler on my deck, that was an unusual sighting. 

Our Upright Fuchsia has so many blooms, looks beautiful. 

I am thankful for the flowers, they can can expel clean oxygen. 

Outside my dining room I can see the Ruby-throated Hummingbird at our flowers. 

I am thankful that my hubby has a green thumb! 

The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is a common sight in our yard, seen mostly on the butterfly bushes. 

I am thankful to see the birds and butterflies in my yard! 

On Aug 3rd, I went to a wedding shower for my future DIL Allie.  We had a fun time and I am looking forward to the wedding in October.  I am thankful my son has found the love of his life. 

For my Skywatch photo, I am sharing this shot of the moon on July 14th. Some times when I can not sleep I have gone out on my deck when the moon is really bright, I took a few photos. 

We have a local family style restaurant near our home, this is the view from the window at our table. They serve one of the best Maryland Crab Cakes, YUM! There is a pretty view of the sky, pond and farm land. 

I am thankful for a good book, I am getting into Harlen Coben's suspense/thrillers. Another recent book was Spilled Milk by K.L. Randis  it is a compelling true story. I am waiting for my online library to get the latest Louise Penny book called A Better Man.

River walk

It will be nice to see you join in on our fun this week at Mosaic Monday and to have a look into your world.

These photos are some scenes from our walk last weekend at the Susquehanna State Park here in Maryland.  The trail is called the Susquehanna Heritage Greenway trail. Also, some shots of my backyard blooms and birds. 

Above the is trail we hiked on at the park, the Deer Creek which empties into the Susquehanna River. I noticed some of the pretty wild tiger daylilies blooming along the creek, along the trail is an old flint furnace.

At the river, I was able to catch a few of the Eastern Pondhawk dragonflies. The Susquehanna River must be an great place for fishing on the way home I saw this field of daylilies.

This field of daylilies is gorgeous.

My purple coneflowers are starting to bloom, they are one of my favorite flowers. I also included some clematis still in bloom, a juvenile Cardinal, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird and a Carolina Chickadee.

One of my many Carolina Chickadees.  Lately our weekends include a walk somewhere and I enjoy a walk around our yard to see what flowers are blooming and to watch my yardbirds.

My yardbirds

These are some of my backyard birds and scenes. I have been seeing lots of juvenile birds in my yard and at the feeders. Some are the Carolina Chickadees, American Goldfinches, Tufted Titmouse and lots of Chipping Sparrows.

The Carolina Chickadee is one of my common yardbirds I see year round. I love this cutie with its feathers looking all fluffy.

Next to my swing I have some blueberry bushes growing, the birds are eating the blueberries before we are able to even pick some for ourselves. We planted the blueberry bushes with the birds in mind, I read it is good to have berry bushes around the yard to attract the wildlife.

Here is one of the male American Goldfinches. He is pretty with his bright yellow colors.

My pretty Ruby-throated Humming bird perched in my weeping cherry tree long enough for me to take a shot.

 This is my view from sitting on my deck, watching the birds in the weeping cherry tree and at my feeders and in the woods across the driveway. You can see some bare branches on the weeping cherry tree where the birds like to perch.

This chickadee is one of my favorites for the day. I enjoy sitting on my deck watching the birds come and go.

Around the front of the house, you can see the birds have plenty of trees to hide in. The rhododendroms  have over grown the house. I can see the birds closeup sitting  in the rhodo from my den window.

Backyard Birds and Blooms

I can not believe how fast the weeks are rolling around. Time for linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

I wish everyone in the US a very HAPPY 4th of July. And to my Canada friends a very Happy Canada Day!

We have some beautiful plants growing in our yard thanks to my hubby's green thumb. A big part of my world is the birds I love and watching my backyard birds. My mosiacs show both the lovely flowers in my yard and my backyard birds.

In this mosaic I have top left a House Wren at the birdhouse, hibiscus, chipmunk, Mockingbird and more of the hibiscus on my deck.

I love to have a big hisbiscus plant on my deck, hubby planted this one and it seem to be blooming beautifully.

The Hummingbirds are sweet to have around, the male is always zoom zooming around the feeders.

Above are my favorite Purple Coneflowers, Hummingbird at the feeder, one of the many Chipping Sparrows I have in my yard, daylily, coneflower.

I love the Purple Coneflowers, one of my favorite summer plants.

This Mockingbird posed nicely for me on the weeping cherry tree. Now it is time to see what is happening in your world.

Backyard blooms and birds

I am linking up my post with Mosaic Monday  and  That's My World.  These are some of the flowers blooming in my yard right now and a couple of my yardbirds...the Mourning Dove and the Ruby Throated Hummingbird. Most of our flowers were planted with the hopes of attracting more wildlife like the  birds and butterflies to our yard.

Below,  butterfly bushes, crepe myrtle, trumpet vine and a Ruby Throated Hummingbird.

The Mourning Dove is another year round bird and a regular visitor to my yard. They spook easily and sometimes it is hard to get a good photo of them.

Below, Purple coneflowers and Maryland's state flower the Black Eyed Susan and my sweet looking Mourning Dove.

Over the years hubby has planted many flowers, he has the green thumb and I just help to choose plants and bushes with the wildlife in mind. The butterfly bushes attract the butterflies and the trumpet vine is a favorite of the hummingbirds.

I just love to see the hummingbirds in my yard, this male like to take control of all my feeders and the flowers.
