I will be away from my computer, but I will visit your critter posts and blogs as soon as possible. Thanks for linking up and for your comments.

I hope you will enjoy some more of my Kauai Birds, each day we visited different beach parks. I found some birds in each park. I promise to be done with my Kauai posts soon. Just one more post to go hang in there.

1. Salt Pond Beach Park, here I found the Wandering Tattler, the Pacific Golden Plover, the Common Myna and the chickens.

2. There are two Tattlers seen in Hawaii, the Wandering Tattler and the Gray-tailed Tattler, they are shorebirds found on the Pacific Coast and Hawaii. This bird forages while bobbing it's tail up and down.

3. The Pacific Golden Plover was seen in various places around the Island of Kauai.

4. At the Spouting Horn Park, I watched a Cattle Egret foraging, there were also some of the Red-crested Cardinals, Common Myna and chickens.

5. The larger shot of the Cattle Egret.

6. One of the few Brown Anole lizards we saw during our vacation.

7. Kauai Coffee Company self guided tour. The gift shop, the huge metal chicken, Saffron Finch, Java Saprrow, Golden Plover, various flowers and coffee trees.

8. Three Java Sparrows which is a lifer for me. Also seen here was a Saffron Finch. I have seen the Saffron Finches in Curacao.

9. Four of the Java Sparrows with the Saffron Finch.

10. On our return to our hotel, we always saw at least one of the cats  seen daily hanging out at the hotel lobby.

11. I believe these birds are the Wandering Tattlers, they were seen on the beach during the sunrise.

On Sept 27th, with these photos I am taking you back to Kauai, we drove on the south side of the island, near the Barking Sands Beach

Click on photos for larger viewing.

1. We stopped at the Kawaiele Waterbird Sanctuary, below is a mosaic showing some of the waterbirds we saw at the Waterbird Sanctuary. We saw lots of the Hawiian Stilt, Hawaiian Coot, Black-crowned Night Heron, Zebra Dove, Sanderling, Ruddy Turnstone and the Common Ringed Plover.

2. The Hawaiian Stilt was one of my favorite Kauai Birds.

3. The Common Ringed Plover another common bird seen in Kauai Hawaii.

4. The Hawaiian Coot and in the background is the Black-crowned Night Heron.

5. The Pacific Golden Plover, I saw this birds in various spots around the island of Kauai.

6. The Sanderling is a bird I see on the beach at home, along the Atlantic Coast.

7. The Ruddy Turnstone is a bird I can see on our Atlantic Coast, especially in the winter months,

8. The Hawaiian Coot, similar to our American Coot.

9. A group of the Hawaiian Stilts.

10. The Kawaiele Waterbird Sanctuary, we walked on some of the trails, checking out closer views of the birds.

I hope you enjoyed these Kauai birds.

* Just a note, I am not sure how many of my blogging friends are fans of Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache books but I noticed Amazon Prime or Acorn will have a series called "A Three Pines" based on Penny's novels. It premieres on Dec 2nd. I already have her # 18 in the Gamache series on hold, it is called "A World of Curiosities" due out on Nov. 29th.

Saturday's Critters # 465

 Welcome to  Saturday's Critters !

Hello and happy Saturday!

Taking a break from the Kauai vacation photos, I have images from our daily outings. Hubby and I are still trying to take our walks, sometimes just locally on the fire roads and to the lake, we have visited Conowingo Dam and Susquehanna River State Park and another local park called Irvine Nature Center.

Click on photos for better viewing.

1. Oct 6th, our walk was local to the lake. We usually always see some Canada Geese, a Northern Flicker was calling out from high in the tree and a Double-crested Cormorant was on the lake.

2. Oct 7th, another walk on our local fire road. We are seeing lots of berries, looking very colorful. A Hermit Thrush was seen and we have been seeing lots of American Robins.

3. The Hermit Thrush is a pretty bird, posing nicely for my photo.

4. Oct 9th, I saw this Ruby-crowned Kinglet hopping around on the ground right in front of me.

On this day we walked to the lake, the fall colors are looking pretty. Two Double-crested Cormorants were hanging out at the lake.

5. Oct 15th, hubby and I drive to the Conowingo Dam and the Susquehanna River State Park. We saw a few Bald Eagles, lots of Black Vultures, Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Gulls and Cormorants.

This Bald Eagle looks like it is holding on tight to a fish.

6. I liked watching these gulls, sometimes diving in the Susquehanna river hoping to catch a fish.

7. Oct 20th, hubby and I took our walk at a local county park called the Irvine Nature Center. We saw the Northern Flicker, Mockingbirds, Eastern Bluebirds, lots of camera shy birds, White-throated Sparrows and a few unknown raptors.

8. A larger look at the raptor, we watched 4-5 of these raptors chasing each other. They seemed very vocal.

9. A closer look at one of the Eastern Bluebirds, one of my all time favorite birds.

A bonus photo from Halloween, my two cute grandsons, Wyatt the Baby Yoda and Mason the pumpkin.

Saturday's Critters # 464

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

I am still making my way through our Kauai trip photos. One of my favorite birds to see was the Rose-ringed Parakeet. I am a fan of Parrots, Parakeets and Macaws. It is sad that this bird is considered an invasive species in Kauai, they are native to India. They are known to destroy crops, such as corn crops and fruit trees. Kauai residents are not happy with thousands of these birds coming in screeching loudly and leaving behind their droppings. I knew I would never be visiting India so I was a happy birder to see hundreds of these Parakeets fly in at sunset to roost in a large group of palm trees near a Mexican Restaurant called Monico's in Kapa'a.

Click on photos for better viewing.

1. Sept 27, a mosiac showing the Rose-Ringed parakeets in Kapaa Kauai.

2. I loved seeing all the parakeets, it was a sight to see and hear these birds come in waves and land in the palm trees.

3. Photos are NOT the greatest, the sun was setting and we were a distance from the palm trees.

4. With the sunset, the lighting was not the best for taking photos of the birds. I did try to brighten the photos some for better viewing.

5. This is a view of the palm tree across the street from the restaurant, the birds landed at the very top of these trees.

6. When I said there were waves of these Rose-ringed Parakeets flying in, this was one of the waves.  You can imagine the sound coming from all these birds, I enjoyed the show.

7. There were times the Parakeets got lost in the palm leaves, I was able to see some of these pretty birds out in the open.

8. We enjoyed our dinner at the Monico's Mexican Restaurant in Kapa'a , I loved seeing the Rose-ringed parakeets flying in to roost for the night.

Coming soon, more scenes and birds from our visit to Kauai.
