Happy Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I am sad to hear about the loss of one of our old Skywatch friends Luiz Ramos from Brazil. He passed away June 21st. Luiz Ramos facebook page. Luiz was a very nice blogging friend, one of my first friends from when I started blogging. He helped run the Skywatch meme and also had a Flower Meme party. He will be missed, prayers for Luiz and his family.

These are some images from our road trip, more from the Cumberland Falls Resort State Park. We spend one night and two days at the park. On this day we hiked to the Eagle Falls, located down river from the Cumberland Falls.

The trail to Eagle Falls is across the river from the Cumberland Falls trail. See my previous post for the Cumberland Falls.

A view of the Eagle Falls trail.

It was a pretty sky day.

A look at the Cumberland Falls from across the river.

A view of the river from the Eagle Falls trail.

This is the Eagle Falls, a harder hike than the easy Cumberland Falls trail.

The Eagle Falls was pretty.

The Eagle Falls trail had a lot of boulders around the river.

Walking back the Eagle Falls trail to the car.

Song Sparrow next to the river.

I am thankful for the first trail blazers, they make it easier for me to hike the trails.

I am thankful to see pretty puffy white clouds and a blue sky!

I am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Thank you Michelle for hostingHappy Monday, enjoy your day and new week! Thankful Thursday
Thank you to the hosts of   Skywatch Friday

Thanks so much for visiting and for your nice comments on my previous post. Have a happy day!

Sorry to hear about the death of your friend Luis . . .

The Falls looks beautiful . . .
I for one, like all the rocks, stones, boulders.
Sweet song of the sparrow is a treet too . . .

My condolences to Luis's family.

When I visited I didn't walk on the other side of the river, I was headed to Canada and had 21 days to do it...looks like I missed a good hike! Really nice shots and the sparrow a bonus!

That was one hike which we did years ago (maybe about 2004 or sooner)--which I will never forget.... It was an extremely hot day (almost 100 degrees) --and we weren't prepared for that hike.. Didn't have water with us; just thought it was an easy hike (which it wasn't).... We made it to Eagle Falls --but neither of us felt very good... On our hike back up and out---George passed out... Some people helped us by giving us water... Someone called 911 ---and we sat until help came... By that time, George was awake and doing okay (other than being weak)... They wanted to put him on a stretcher --but he refused. SO---he walked out of there with those helpers all around him. I followed behind... When we got to the bottom --they made him get into their ambulance/rescue vehicle --and he got all of his stats done... He was fine by then... I think they said that his blood sugar had dropped too low (he doesn't have Diabetes) and that is what caused him to faint.... Scared me to death!!! After all of that, we went to dinner at the lodge.... BUT--needless to say, we were NEVER unprepared for a hike again--and something like that has never happened since that time...
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Eileen, sorry about the passing of your blogging friend, Luiz. I didn't realize - I'll pop back to Skywatch and see if anything was mentioned. Your falls are spectacular. I was about to say, I hope Betsy Adams visits your blog today and I see she did; also recollected a harrowing hike she and George had on this hike. Have a great day. Jo

So many bloggers have passed since I started years ago. Others just disappear and I wonder about them.

Oh Eileen, what an awesome place for a stroll. I don't like those paths along the edges of cliffs though, not with vertigo. The railing really wouldn't make me feel secure enough but I bet it's a beautiful scene.
