Our World, My World

 Happy Monday,

Another new day and a new week, the last full week of August. It is hard to believe September is just a week away.  So, I am flying by with a cheery hello to all.

Hubby and I like to hike a loop trail at this local county park. I have blogged about the Hashawha Nature Center numerous times. It is one of my favorite places for a walk.

Me and my shadow on the boardwalk at the Hashawha Lake.

The walk takes us past two different pond and the main lake. This pond has a lot of white waterlilies.

Birds of Prey center, these birds are injured in some way and can not be released into the wild.  Shown are the Bald Eagle, Barred owl and a Red-tailed Hawk.

I believe the red blooms are actually called Rose Mallow. They are in the Hibiscus family.

This mushroom was big almost as big as my hand.

I was not able to take any bird photos, we did see a few swallows flying low over the lake.  We spooked a Belted Kingfisher that was sitting on nearby wire over the lake.  I heard a Barred Owl calling repeatedly the who cooks for you sound..

I hope everyone is happy and healthy. Take care, stay safe!

Hello Eileen,

Beautiful photos! I love to see all the white waterlilies. The Rose Mallow was very pretty. It must be very interesting to visit a Birds of Prey center.

You can see so much more when there is some water near the trail. I love to go to the Preserve because of that...more variety! Your photos are beautiful...love your shadow shot! That one is different! Hugs!

I could enjoy your photos, and not have to be in the humidity which must have been high while you were walking by the water...I only hope there was a breeze and it wasn't one of the hot days of summer. Thanks so much for snapping photos on your walk! Have a great week, Eileen!

With the way the lighting is on the mushroom that looks like it belongs in a magical place. Like maybe a tiny toad might show up under it that could be kissing turned into a prince

Looks like a beautiful trail and walking around ponds and lakes should keep cool despite a sunny day. Lovely flowers and you presented them tastefully in these collages and the park does a nice job in preserving the wounded birds rather leave them in wild to die.

Take care

I didn’t think you *ever* went anywhere without getting bird photos. I have almost given up! I’m getting slower and the birds are getting flightier . I hear them and see them, just don’t get many pictures. Anyway, your neighborhood nature walk is a wonderful place , even without birds. The walks I take are pretty much necessary for my sanity these days. Thank goodness for them! And thank you for sharing yours!
