Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Remember and honor our heroes!
We have been having a cooler spring, some windy cloudy days. Hubby and I still try to take our daily walks with the grand-dogs and do some birding.
1. On April 25th hubby and I took our walk at a local park called Hashawha. I have posted about this park numerous times. The mosaic show some of the birds we saw on our latest walk.
Top row is the Turkey Vulture, Pileated Woodpecker, American Robin and a Goldfinch. Bottom row, Tree Swallows, Red-winged Blackbird, Canada Geese and a female Cardinal.
2. The American Robin seem to be a common sight lately. They are everywhere.
3. The Tree Swallows were doing their thing, catching bugs around the Hashawha Lake.
4. I captured this Red-winged Blackbird singing, they are common birds seen here. I think they like the wetland area around the Hashawha Lake.
5. The Northern Parula are breeders in my area, I heard and saw this male Northern Parula in a Redbud tree.
6. Northern Parula, singing a happy song. A male Northern Parula is showing off the beautiful colors around it's throat.
6. April 25-27th, I have been enjoying my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. It is great to see them return to my yard each spring.
The male Hummingbird has a beautiful ruby jewel necklace.
7. April 27th, a female Bluebird was checking out my yard and birdhouses, all our plants are looking pretty, there is Creeping Phlox near my metal Moose and little pond, a Gray Catbird, Bleeding Heart, Pink Dogwood and Pink Azaleas.
8. April 30th , we have been enjoying our walks to the lake with the dogs. One day we spooked a Green Heron that was in a cove area, the birds are just singing like crazy now. I am hearing the Pine Warbler, Northern Parula, Ovenbirds, Wood Thrush, Various woodpeckers, Catbirds and other resident birds. We are blessed to have all this right here in our neighborhood.

1. April 21st, our walk to the lake with the dogs, the usual Canada Geese and Double-crested Cormorants were seen hanging out at the lake.
2. April 23rd, we met up with our son, DIL, Wyatt and Mason for lunch in Hanover Pa. On the way home I saw a Barred Owl sitting on a power line above the road.
3. April 24th, hubby and I drove to North Point State Park in Baltimore County Md. I was hoping to see Little Blue Herons, they have been seen at this park for years. No luck seeing Little Blues but we did have some great birds and wildlife sightings.
Below top row, Tree Swallow, Slider Turtles, GB Herons. Middle row are the Caroline Wren, Chipping Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, Bull Frog. Bottom row are the Osprey, Lesser Scaup, male Wood Duck, a pair of Wood Ducks with a Great Blue Heron flying by.
4. I am pretty sure these are the Red-eared Slider Turtles, they were seen all over the wetlands.
5. A Great Blue Heron flying by, a pair of Wood ducks. The male Wood Duck is on the left and the female tagging behind on the right side of the photo.
6. The pretty male Wood Duck.
7. The Tree Swallows love this park, lots of trees and bugs to eat.
8. We watched three Ospreys flying around near the bay and we found this Osprey below perched high in a tree.
9. The Carolina Wren singing loudly right off the trail.

I am sharing some photos from April 13th and our walk on the nearby NCR Bike trail.
1. April 13th some of the nature scenes included a few birds, White-tailed Deer and lots of flowers.
2. We saw 3 White-tailed Deer running across the bike trail. I could only capture the last one running off. Can you find the deer? A blink of the eye he was gone into the woods.
3. I am not sure of this Hawk, possibly a Cooper's Hawk or Sharp-shinned Hawk. It flew across the river and landed on the ground. I am sure something was under this hawk's feet.
4.The Eastern Phoebe has been seen near the river and bike trail often during our walks.
5. April 15th our walk to the lake with the grand-dogs. Nothing new seen on this day the usual Canada Geese and some Double-crested Cormorants.
6. April 16th on our deck railing the White-throated Sparrow was eating some peanuts.
7. April 16th, our walk to the lake with the dogs, again we saw more Double-crested Cormorants hanging out.
8. April 17th, hubby and I hiked at the nearby Hemlock Gorge area, I heard the Lousiana Waterthrush calling but it would not pose for a photo. I did capture 2 Canada Geese with a Mallard.
9. April 20th, our walk to the lake with dogs, we saw more DC Cormorants, a first time seeing 3 Terns flying over our lake and a Slider Turtle was out sunning on the rocks.
10. One of the 3 Terns I saw flying around our lake, they seem out of place here. I usually see Terns along the coast. I am guessing with the large colorful beak it is a Caspian Tern?
I am seeing more of our breeders moving back into our area. I have been out for walk on most days, looking for new birds and photos.

Since I am only posting once a week with my Saturday's Critters I am able stay a little more up to date sharing photos. At this time we were celebrating our 32nd Anniversary! These images are from the middle of April. I am always looking for birds on my walks with the grand-dogs. Some times for a new location hubby and I will drive somewhere for our walk.
1. April 8th, we drove around our Prettyboy reservoir, taking photos of the lake and dam. There was one Double-crested Cormorant hanging out, we did see some ducks but they moved away quickly.
2. April 8th after checking out the dam, we drove past the Friendly Farm's pond to see if any new ducks or birds showed up. I did see a few Blue-winged Teals, possible Gadwall or female Mallard?
3. April 8th, we have had a lot of rain which makes the lake water look more brownish like muddy water. The Canada Geese did not seem to mind the muddy looking lake water.
4. April 9th, our walk on the fire road with the grand-dogs. This trail is mostly covered with pine needles.
5. April 9th, I spread out some peanuts loose and in the shells for my yard birds, usually the peanuts disappear quickly. This female Cardinal may have missed out on getting a peanut.
6. April 11th, another walk to the lake with the dogs, we saw more Double-crested Cormorants, Canada Geese and some wildflowers.
7. April 11, I have multiple bird houses in our yard but this chickadee is nesting in a dead tree that we left for the woodpeckers.
8. April 12th, I drove hubby for his eye checkup and we made a quick stop at the area known for seeing the Yellow-crowned Night Heron nesting about the Jones Falls in Baltimore.
9. April 12th, a view of the Jones Falls and the Yellow-crowned Night Heron.
Hubby and I celebrated our 32nd Anniversary on May 4th, we have had 32 years of happy times and great memories.
