I did not go on many birdwatching outings in December.  It seemed like the month flew by, with both hubby and I being sick off and on. We both had the flu/stomach bug. I had a few episodes of vertigo. Hubby was out of commission for a few weeks having the Shingles on his face, even after having the Shingles vaccine. His eye was infected from the Shingles. We had multiple trips to the ER, a health clinic and his eye doctor. Finally he got the all clear the day before Christmas. For an added safety precaution we kept our distance from the family, especially the grandchildren. We met up with them the Saturday after Christmas.

1. Dec 25th, we were surprised to see our neighborhood Peacock walking around our yard and on the deck.  I gave him some of the peanut suet nuggets and he quickly ate them all.

2. Our neighborhood peacock came for a visit.

3. A little late but we enjoyed Christmas with the grandkids. It was a joyful time with the kiddies.

4. Dec 27th, hubby and I were walking on the local fire road when I saw this Pileated Woodpecker fly and land on a nearby tree.

5. Dec 30, we rode past the Friendly Farms ponds on the way home. There were lots of Canada Geese and a group of male and female Bufflehead ducks.

6. A view of the ponds, the ducks look way to small but you can see small bits of white which are the Buffleheads.

7. A larger image of the male Bufflehead with three females.

Bonus: Yesterday our grandson turned 3 years old, Happy Birthday to Mason.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Hello Eileen,
Beautiful series of photos of your trips that you have done.
Annoying stomach flu, I have also just recovered from it, it is very prevalent in the Netherlands just like regular influenza.
Also congratulations on your grandson Mason.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Greetings Irma

Oh, I'm very sorry that illnesses like dizziness, among other things, are a burden on everyday life. I sincerely wish you both a speedy recovery, dear Eileen. We, Hobby ans me, know about such days.

The grandchildren's time, on the other hand, is a great joy, as the cheerful pictures show.

Best wishes and have a nice weekend, Heidrun

I had no idea about your troubles in December...
My daughter had an H Zoster blister on her back and I had it in 2024... I have to go and get vaccinated, it's a terrible virus.
I really enjoyed seeing your grandchildren and reading you, Eileen.
Have a great week.

Hello Eileen :)
You and your husband had a rough time health wise leading up to Christmas but I'm so glad you were able to participante in the festivities, and are well now. I do like those Bufflehead ducks and how wonderful to have a Peacock roaming around your garden.
Happy birthday Mason! :)

I am going to see your last weeks post now, and share my last post here. I had surgery on my back, that is why I couldn't take part.
Thank you for hosting Eileen
All the best

Your December sounds like one to forget...so sorry health was not good for you all. I've also had shingles since having the vaccine, and now take daily meds to avoid further outbreaks. So far just one little bit when stressed. Love that you've got a neighborhood peacock! I like the name of bufflehead ducks.

Hi Eileen, So sorry to hear about you and your hubby’s health issues in December. My better half had an issue with shingles on her back a couple of years ago … it drove her crazy … so I can only imagine the agony of having it on the face. Now, on a much happier note, it’s so cool to have a neighborhood Peacock! 😊 Happy birthday to Mason … I remember when he was born … 3 years have sure flown by! Happy weekend to you and your hubby. John
