Saturday's Critter's #47
Happy weekend everyone! I am looking forward to seeing everyone's critters this week..I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party.
I am sharing more the birds and gulls seen on the beach at Ocean City, Maryland.
I love the look on the closest Tern..The Black Skimmer in the rear look like juveniles, they are a brownish color instead of the black color of the adult..
What Gull? I was thinking maybe a juvie Herring Gull. Edited, I now believe these gulls are the juvenile Laughing Gull.
A closer look at the Black Skimmer's bill.
I am not sure if this flock of birds flying by were the Black Ducks or DC Cormorants..I hope you enjoyed seeing more birds from Ocean City Maryland...
Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to Jennifer for creating my photo badge.
Thank you for linking up to the critter party. I also appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

That tern in the foreground just made me laugh out loud. He looks wild and crazy. Love the skimmers -- they just fascinate me.

Hi Eileen, I loved the surprised look on the tern's face. Great photos all round. Have a wonderful weekend. Greetings Jo
ReplyDeleteThere's a definite autumn (fall) feel to those photos. It's lovely to see the Skimmers again - a bird I hope to see one day with their unusual bills!
ReplyDeleteThere are all great photos! I'm with you, the look on the Tern's face in the first photo is priceless!
ReplyDeleteHI Eileen great shots of the birds by the sea.Love the Skimmers. Now unless your Us juvenile Herring Gulls are different from the UK ones, the legs are too dark on them be be Herring but I do not know what they are. Thanks for hosting. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Eileen. I have been enjoying your beach shots. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing birds as much as finding mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteSuperb shots of flock of birds.
ReplyDeleteLine up guys, keep your heads looking straight ahead, lovely, and the wind ruffles in the first photo, a winner. Jean
ReplyDeleteI love the Black Skimmer, it shows us what america is, beautiful.

Ocean City Maryland!! I love that place. It's been ages since I've been there too.
ReplyDeleteThat tern seems to be saying "Are you lookin' at me?"
Good morning Eileen. Thanks for allowing me to join in your critter day.
ReplyDeleteI'm really taken with that picture of the Laughing Gulls lining up for their picture like that.
That sea looks a bit wild and windy, almost like here. Take care and enjoy your weekend.
Love these bird shots and would love to be by the ocean too :)
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy the skimmers, they have a comical look with the oversized bills. So cute!
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen ,I come back and I am glad that I am linking with your post ! Thank you so much for the hosting !

ReplyDeleteWren x
Cool sightings of the terns and gulls, neither of which I have ever seen in person so you can be sure I'm jealous. ;))
ReplyDeleteLove the Skimmers! Those bills are so impressive. Nice collection of shorebirds!
ReplyDeleteI had to look up Laughing Gull - never heard of him before! Actually, I had n o idea there were so many different gulls around NE NA!
ReplyDeleteI have only seen the skimmers one time in my life, a flock at the beach. of course gulls are everywhere, even at Walmart... but i still love pics of them...
ReplyDeletesuch a cute, impudent look on that first tern! love the skimmers. these are all birds i definitely don't get to see here. :) thanks, eileen!
ReplyDeleteYou give a new appreciation to the gulls at a waterfront Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
I like the Tern as well! He's looking a little mussed. Those Skimmers are such interesting looking birds!
ReplyDeleteI like the one where they are standing in a circle. They're probably discussing their attack plan on tourists for the day.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby has so many pictures of gulls from our visits to California. But they are really interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe Skimmers are so cool with those bi-colored bills.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, (again) photos . . . I love all the day trips and your longer vacations because ii get to go along with you by seeing your photos. I have learned a bit too.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the beach birds all face the wind together.

ReplyDeleteDimi...
Great photos, I love the tern in the foreground of the first photo. I don't know laughing gulls, but I'm certain your juvie gulls aren't herring gulls....
ReplyDeleteLove the skimmer's bills! Very interesting. And yes...laughing gulls! My hubby loved showing them to our grandson when we were back east. He's been raised seeing them all his life, being a Norfolk native. I love their name! Really great photos, Eileen! Happy to be joining in again this week.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty birds. The skimmers have strange looking bills. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI did indeed enjoy seeing the Ocean City birds, Eileen. You never disappoint. What interesting bills on the Black Skimmers, and the Laughing Gulls were wonderful. I've never seen them (or at least, known what I was seeing). Thanks so much for hosting! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen! I've never seen before such amazing faces of ocean birds from so up close... we have, as well, some gulls at the Black Sea, but their size and appearance is definitely different!! So great... Now that i've saw these images I wished "to be on a shore and to follow a bird"...just like in a summer poem! A happy weekend, too!
ReplyDeleteNice assortment of gulls. Quite an impressive beak on that Black Skimmer!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love the 'formation' in the second photo !
ReplyDeleteI lived close to the Atlantic shore when I lived in Brooklyn, NY, Eileen, and I miss hearing the seagulls overhead.
ReplyDeleteI love watching sea gulls...except when they steal my lunch! I had one take a chip (fries) as i was putting into my mouth!
ReplyDeleteGreat images.
Those are neat looking birds!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing shore birds from other places. Those orange and black bills are so strange looking, but I'm sure they do the job.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Black Skimmers for myself! They are quite impressive with their strong beaks!
Your picture are a real smack from the sea!! LOL!!
Enjoy your sunday!
I like the look the tern is giving you. I'm always intrigued to see gulls all facing the same way
ReplyDeleteI love the seashore! Nice views of the gulls and skimmers. Better late than never-- I was traveling all day yesterday but it is nice to be back home in Florida.
ReplyDeleteLove that look on the tern's face. So inquisitive... as if he is thinking to himself "what in the world are you? you look interesting!" Great photos, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteMy critter isn't real nor is he little however I wanted to come along and play on Saturday. I noticed this little bird you have and read about the black bill, when he opens his bill it looks like he has a fish in it. Nice shots, and I was thinking of you yesterday when I tried to get an amazing shot at a bird sitting outside our RV window. I later looked it up and it is a Magpie native to the area we are in right now. Thanks for the party
What pretty birds. I love that last shot with the spray.
ReplyDeleteInteresting birds! I love the first shot!
ReplyDeleteLove those Black Skimmers...:)JP
ReplyDeleteI´m still so impressed by these terns. Love their heads and bills.
ReplyDeleteThose Skimmers are wonderful looking birds Eileen. I'd love to see one of them.
