Saturday's Critters #128

Saturday's Critters #128

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY weekend!!!!

We have been staying closer to home lately so I have been watching my yard birds as often as I can. You never know when you may see a new bird show up. I am sharing the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, it has been the longest amount of days I have seen them here. They arrived around April 29 and as I type this post I am still seeing a few on May 19th. The Indigo Buntings are still here, my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are here and a few other regular yard birds like the House Finches, Carolina Wren, Gray Catbird and the Red-bellied Woodpecker.

A pretty Indigo Bunting in the rain.

A female Rose-breasted Grosbeak showing a little yellow on her wings.

House Finch couple, the female is in the feeder.

A Caroline Wren, there was a family of five hopping all around my yard.

A Gray Catbird enjoys the suet feeder.

The female Rose-breasted Grosbeak also loves the blueberry suet.

The male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were fighting over the suet feeder.

A Red-bellied Woodpecker up my deck railing. She is looking for peanuts.

A silhouette shot of my Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Three male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were all trying out the sunflower seed feeder. I hope you enjoyed this variety of yard birds. They are a joy for me to see and watch right from my windows. Most of these photos were taken with my Canon SX40 out my dining room window.

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

I just can't get enough of those grosbeaks. I wonder if they may breed in your area. They bred in northern New Jersey in the 1940s when I was a kid but have expanded their range. They were less common as breeders in coastal areas but I know they like the Appalachian Mountains. They were one of my 'spark" birds when I first saw the, a pair engaged in a courtship ritual. Unforgettable!

Good Morning Eileen. I am so impressed with your garden birds today. It must have been quite exciting watching those grosbeaks squabbling over the feeders like that. With those huge bills I imagine they could do each othere some serious damage if they tried.

I love the colours of the Indigo Bunting and the woodpecker.

Have a lovely weekend, and thanks for inviting me in today.

JEALOUS. I hope I am not being rude. Love your variety of birds. We have actually seen each one of your beautiful birds, but only on rare occasions. Looking at bird maps, they are supposed to be here, except the for the rose breasted grosbeak. Wonderful photos of them. I keep looking at the feeders, but it is getting late in the spring for the migrating birds.

Good morning and happy Sunday, I'm a day late and blogger is working really, really slow for me this morning and had to post from my cell phone for faster speed! Silly right. I couldn't add your link either, will try again later tonight after work, and my pre-birthday celebration at my son's house. Your birds today are as incredible as always, not at all like the ones I posted! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Gorgeous photos Eileen! We have both catbirds and mockingbirds around here. At night we have no idea which is which. There is one particular male (mockingbird) that hangs around our yard every mating season. We love listening to him at night.
