Birding at the Blackwater NWR

The Blackwater refuge is one of my favorite place to go birding. This time of year the shorebirds are back, Ospreys and Eagles are all on their nest. Turtles are sunning themselves on the shore,  rocks and fallen trees. It is just a wonderful time of year to see nature and some great birds.

Osprey working on their nest, please click on photos images look better enlarged

A far away view of the Eagle parents. I had heard from volunteers at the visitor center that  there were two eaglets in the nest.

Thanks to the both of them  and for stopping by to see my post.

Fabulous photos Eileen! We have a lot of Osprey here and I love to watch them. One flew over my car on Monday and he had a fish in his talons. I had my sunroof open and was hoping he had a really good grip on his catch of the day!

I too love to go to the marshy areas around here and check out the shore and migrating birds.
Last week, I saw four black swans...something there really should not be in NJ. But I got...and posted...the pictures!

I want to get back to our Audubon Center and see what is out there now. Your pictures were nice. I especially liked the closeup picture of the osprey on its nest.

Hi Eileen,
Your photos are great. I saw a pair of eagles flying over a local lake once and it was a thrill. Thanks for sharing these great pics.

I am enjoying your birds! we feed them in our yard, when we can keep the feeders full, as other critters like to raid it, even tho I put out plenty on the ground! LOL.
Thanks for stopping by mine again & hope you come back next week for the answer ;) Faythe @GrammyMstails
