Lakeland Florida

Hello,

These are some images from our Lakeland neighborhood, the lake, view of the moon, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Juvenile Moorhen and an immature Little Blue Heron. I have enjoyed the past winter in Lakeland Florida, I hope you enjoy my photos.

This is a sunrise scene of our local lake, Lakeland Florida.

The neighborhood Black-bellied Whistling Ducks.

I believe this is a juvenile Common Moorhern but then I also think it could be a juvenile Purple Gallinule?

A juvenile Little Blue Heron.

I am thankful for being able to live my life around the things that I love, mostly nature related.
I am also thankful and blessed to be retired and doing what I am doing. It includes living part time in Florida for the winter.

Thank you for your visit and comments on my post. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!

Thanks to Michelle for the meme Thankful Thursday

I am also linking up to Skywatch Friday, I hope to see you there.
Thank you to Sylvia, Yogi and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday.

  5. Hi Eileen, Beautiful photos in this post! You know me, I always like to pick a favorite, but your pictures make it difficult! They are all so good! :-) I never get enough sunrise and/or sunset pics and these you've included are just great. However, for this post I'm going to select the juvenile Common Moorhern (possible juvenile Purple Gallinule) because your photo picks up wonderfully the subtle color of the bird's feathers. Very nice shot there! I do admire you spending your winter in Florida. Thank you for scouting out some great spots to visit and sharing your pictures with us. Have a great weekend ahead and, if traveling, be safe!

  13. You're lucky to divide your life between two places that you love. Florida is so full of life when we're still trying to get past old Man Winter. I've so enjoyed your pictures, and the last post of the Snipe was really interesting. He's a cutie - And for this post, I love the Whistling Ducks that I became a fan of from "Theresa at Run-Around-Ranch."

    Enjoy your Thursday Eileen!!

  29. BEAUTIFUL photos!

    Which lake is that?

My DH and our son both went to Florida Southern. We spent a LOT of time in Lakeland and considered retiring there. It's still not out of the question, but we do love north Florida too.

    Especially enjoy your whistling ducks.
I understand that they are native to the Texas Gulf coast, but several flocks got blown over to the Fla. gulf coast during Katrina!!
Not sure the validity - but I would sure love to see some whistling ducks!!!
    Great shots!
