Saturday's Critters #169
Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.
These are some images from our visit to the TECO (Tampa Electric Co) Manatee Viewing center and the nearby Apollo Beach.
Yellow-crowned Night Heron, it looks like it is surrounded by sudsy water. Not sure what the foamy white stuff is, not snow. Whatever it is, it comes out of the TECO plant.

...I've never seen a Manatee in person, what a sight.
Absolutely stunning. It must be a thrill to see one, not to mention seeing all of those - what a wonder! And love the egret - we had those in Southern California - wish there were some here. Have a grand weekend.
Très belle série, nous sommes heureux de pouvoir partager avec vous quelques images ;-)

I so love the shots of the Manatee, lucky you to be able and see them in Nature, I'm so grateful to you, my darling Eileen, for all the stunning creatures you make me know !
May your weekend be filled with JOY and WONDER
XOXO Dany

My that's a fair number of the 'sea cows'! They are gorgeous and I have a small envy at your having gotten so close to them. YAM xx
The manatees are so cute! And your herons are delightful to watch.
Happy Saturday!
Beautiful images!
Have a great weekend!
Nice post and pics.
Have a nice weekend.
Greetings
Fun to see the manatees, Eileen. Wishing you a happy Saturday.
Muito lindo tudo, como sempre aqui! Hoje tem céus teus por lá! beijos, obrigadão! chica
Hi Eileen,
Beautiful series of pictures, really beautiful is the egret.
I can not put it in my link.
I wish you a nice weekend.
Best regards, Irma
I hope the foam isn't toxic, but it contributes to a very nice composition with the night-heron. I still have not seen a concentration of manatees-- only one or two and just their noses!
I've only ever seen Manatees on the TV. It must be thrilling to see them in real life. Such an unusual animal and well worth a visit. Especially when there are birds to see and photograph as well.
Thanks for inviting me along today Eileen. I hope your weekend if warm, sunny and bird filled.
Hi Eileen, your Snowy Egret is like our Little Egret with black legs and yellow legs; looks as if they dipped their feet in gold paint! How lovely to see manatees. Something I'll only see on screen and not in real life. Thanks for sharing. I'm surmising the foam is non-toxic! Thanks for hosting this wonderful meme. Greetings Jo
How amazing to see the manatee so close! The water is soapy looking though, I hope they don't suffer any ill effects.
Thanks for hosting, Eileen!
How wonderful to see the manatees!
I hope the foam isn't toxic!! What is TECO? A power plant?
Lovely herons.
Hope you have a pleasant weekend.
You are so lucky. Alligators one week and Manatee the next :-) Such a wonderful area for wildlife.
Hi Eileen,
fantastic photos of the birds and the bid animals in the sea.
Fabulous ! Have a great weekend, Irma.
Best regards, Synnöve
Those manatees are amazing, Eileen! Great shots of them too.
Thanks for hosting, have a great new week!
Hi Eileen, love that close up of the Manatee! That must have been a fun day.
Manatees! Very interesting!
I would be very excited to see them
Have a great week-end!
Fantastic photos ! I love the Manatee's . Thanks for sharing , have a good weekend !
Poor poor critters.
So cold.
You managed a great closeup of the manatee....My pics always just look like blobs in the water (over at our power plant park. ) Thanks so much for hosting!
Cute manatees indeed! Hope you are having a beautiful day!
Eileen, nice variety, especially the Tricolored Heron. Thanks for sharing.
Aren't the Manatee a joy to see? They are so beautiful and fun to 'try' to photograph. You got some amazing photos! I love trying to catch them when they come up for a breath of air. Love the herons too. Wish I could get out in nature again soon! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, Diane
WoW!!! what a great viewing place for the manatee's!!! they are so cute - gentle giants - they really steal the show in this post!!!
ps...i thought it was snow in the first picture...i guess it's on my mind as we got some yesterday, more coming on tuesday ;)
the manatees are so sweet and gentle. great shots of them in that warm water.
Years ago I drove a friend to Florida for her winter stay . . .
On the way, she talked about the Florida Manatee . . .
"What's a Manatee" I said, "you don't know what a manatee is?" said she . . .
Nope . . . I didn't, it was. my first trip to Florida . . . and learned a bunch on that trip!
Wonder what that white fluff, foamy stuff is . . .
I can't imagine it is healthy for the herons, birds ???
Thank you for "sparking" a Manatee memory!
I've never seen a manatee, but I adore them! Great photos, as ever!
It's terribly cold here... /whine.
What mythical creatures, the manatee. And how fortunate you are to see them. Yes. March is the windy month. Last week it whipped up a massive prairie fire in northeaster Colorado. Today we have some rain--enough to settle the dust. Sometimes I think we make too much of weather, don't we? Love you photos of the manatee.
Great photos!
In 32 years of living in Central Florida I have only ever seen a yellow-crowned night hawk once. It was quite a thrill!
Of course, I meant night HERON, not night HAWK.
Hello Eileen.
Florida and Manatee sightings brings back happy memories from your images.
Have a grand weekend.
Loved the yellow-crowned night heron in the snow...and your manatees are awesome! Looks like your time in FL has been great!
Love the Manatees---I hope what ever is in the water doesn't damage them. they have so much to overcome anyway. Great shots.

manatees are so cute.. and the tricolored heron is just gorgeous..
Wow! Great sighting of so many manatees. It has a cute face. Have a beautiful weekend, Eileen!
Great wildlife, but I'm not sure about the white gunk from the power plant...
The last time I was there, were very few manatees...the weather had been way too warm.
Beautiful series, Eileen, and I especially love that Manatee! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. :)
Oh those Manatee, are lovely to see.
Great birds too.
Enjoy your weekend
All the best Jan
Love the close up of the manatee Eileen...Great image.

Wishing you a Happy Weekend ~ ^_^
It's good to see so many Manatees, Eileen!
Thanks for stopping by & linking up today Eileen...happy birding
We have a animal simular to the Manatee cant't remember what it is called here but I do know it was sometimes mistaken for a mermaid how I will never know.
Merle............
This is nice, i like it !
I do like those Manatees. Have never seen one in person.
oh I love the manatees, Eileen and the shots from the previous post at the Sand Key Park as well! It's pretty cold here right now...this is warming me up, lol
What beautiful pictures. You even made room for the manatee, which we don't see much of.
Looks like an incredible place to view this extraordinary creature Eileen, and great photos all of them. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
Oh, wow, what a group of manatees!
Hi Eileen, I enjoyed your pictures of the Herons and the Manantees. My favorite is the one with caption, “What a cutie!” and you are so right! :-) Neat shot of the Snowy Egret too. Thanks, as always, for sharing, hosting, and your kind comments on my blog. Wishing you a happy week ahead!
What a wonderful chance to see Manatees and so many in one place - I am envious!
Neat critters! Too bad about the foamy stuff.
Wow !! Nice to see the manatee so close !!
Great serie of your fantastic photos, dear friend !!
Happy weekend !
Manatee seems to be a kind species and beautiful capture on the aquatic mammals! Very sorry to the see the water gets polluted by the industrial plants creating a endanger environment for wildlife... this is something happens at everywhere and should be stopped
Beautiful.
how lovely to see the manatees, both 'in person' and that lovely statue!
Wow! I have never seem so many Manatee in one shot and those foam are probably from detergent used for cleaning compressor blades of the gas turbines
I love the Manatees, gentle.
the white fluff seem to be a bad sign. Should not be there IMO :(
Great shots as always :)
What interesting critters Eileen, thanks for posting!
I just adore Manatees and every time we visit Vero Beach in Florida, my niece takes us to see them! Great photos, what a fun excursion that was for you, and the statue is adorable too. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Eileen.
Don't you just love the Manatee!!! I've paddled in a kayak before with a group of them and I wanted sooo badly to get in the water with them - but wasn't permitted to do so!! Nice heron and egret!!!
My first thought was that the white foamy stuff was snow too!
I'd really like to get a good look at a manatee - strange looking animals.
Cheers - Stewart M - In Melbourne, but jet-lagged!
Hi Eileen!! Beautiful Herons.. Nice shots
Eileen, great captures! We visited Florida in 2013 and managed to see some dolphins, which was totally exciting. Of course, we spotted some of those long-legged bird varieties but I couldn't tell you now what we saw. I'd say things are beginning to get pretty warm in your neck of the woods. It's cool here this week but the future forecast is calling for spring-like weather next week which I can't wait. I hate it anytime our weather drops below freezing at night. That's just too cold to suit me! Have a good week!
Birds, of course, beautiful, but today most interested me manatee. Greetings.
Love Manatees..Glad they are protected there..The Tricolored Heron os pretty..nice shot!! Have a good week..
We have an Apollo Bay beach in Australia! I have never seen a Manatee before interesting. Hope they didn't have to swim much in the bubble bath!

Hello Eileen,
What a lovely post about the manatees, such an interesting animal and it seems it is very much endangered, unfortunately.
The Crowned heron is something else too!
Enjoy your week, I am off again to the Atlantic coast!
Hi, You could publish a book on all of the wonderful critters you have seen and posted since being in Florida.... I've enjoyed your posts so much --especially on FB...
Thanks.
Hugs,
Betsy
