I am sharing some backyard birds and some of our local breeding birds in the woods around our home.
A red-bellied woodpecker sharing some peanut nuggets with a chipmunk on our deck railing.
A closer look at the chipper.
The Scarlet Tanager can be heard and seen from my deck sometimes.
We have our own Great Blue Heron rookery in the woods across from our driveway. You would not believe the crazy sounds they make sometimes.
A close look at the Scarlet Tanager, they breed in the tree tops in the woods next to our home.
A fussy thru the window shot of my male Ruby-throated Hummingbird.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments! I hope you enjoy my post and photos too!

ReplyDeletewonderful wildlife around your house. Love the look of the beautiful The Scarlet Tanager.
ReplyDelete10 min ago I spotted a squirrel on my balcony on the third floor. It was investigating the curtains I have for sun/heat protection. It´s hot up here sometimes. It did not get through the curtains this time. But now I know it might happen so can´t leave the door open too much.
Hi Eileen, Love you little chipmunk, and the color of the Ruby-throated hummingbird is amazing. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe chipmunk right there, I am amazed at how close they all are. Beautiful reds,

ReplyDeleteGreat to see your "daily visitors" around home . . .
ReplyDeleteFlash of red through the trees is always a treat for me . . .
Crazy chirping and different sounds are great fun too . . .
And a flitting hummer, or two or three . . , summer for sure!
Great photo catches Eileen . . .
You have some beautiful critters here.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, love those creatures! The chipmunk is darling, and it looks like it's having a critter party with the woodpecker. That shot of the scarlet tanager is beautiful. We see a summer tanager here sometimes, but I don't think I've ever seen a scarlet.
ReplyDeleteThat little chipper is SO cute! Much cuter than the squirrels we have here over running out yard! Enjoy your weekend my friend. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThe Red Tanager is gorgeous. What an eye-popper.

ReplyDeleteEileen as always, your shots are great. I especially love this little hummingbird shot, and the scarlet tanager is gorgeous. I actually saw a tanager in my yard the other day and was surprised as i have never seen one at my house before. Missed getting a shot as I was too slow, or the bird was too quick. Have a lovely Saturday !
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Love the red. I looked up their habitat and saw they do live here, but I have never seen one. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThose birds are awesome. I would love to see a scarlet taninger, what color they have.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Eileen. Those peanuts sure do the trick don't they? I must get some in soon aalthough I know I wont get a chipmunk and Red-bellied Woodpecker together like that. You're so lucky having the heron living so close and just to pop across the road and take more pictures. That tanager is just super - so scarlet to live in woodland like that. ReplyDeleteCute pics of the chipper and heron!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Eileen. Wishing you a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe chipmunk is totally adorable, but that Scarlet Tangaer is truly in a class all it's own, it's really a pretty bird! I don't think we have them here on my side of the Potomac, and that's too bad.
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful birds living near you! What a wonderful shot of the hummingbird.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! There is nothing prettier than nature! The same birds look different in different parts of our amazing planet!
ReplyDeleteWow, you always have the best critters coming to see you! Great captures of them all. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThe Scarlet Tanager is one of my absolute favorites! It seems to like being around where people are (parks etc) because we are such great food sources. :-) It is a small bird, and so colorful. Just love them! You got some great photos of it and the other critters!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing! The color!
ReplyDeleteEileen, to me the Scarlet Tanager says SUMMER...you are so fortunate to have them nesting near you!!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of beautiful animals. Love the squirrel and woodpecker. We have Acorn woodpeckers around here. They only reason they would be that close to a squirrel, would be to fight over an acorn.
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeletefantastic photos of the birds and animals. Great !
Best, Synnöve
Such so cute Scarlet tanager birds, chipper and squirrel; all birds are amazing seen from so close. As Spring is almost over, summer will bring more and more fun in your garden and woods, for sure!
