Around the yard

Happy Thankful Thursday!
I am sharing some of my yard bird and skies shots taking from my deck or my dining room window. On November 18th we saw a beautiful sunrise from our deck, the low laying clouds all turned a pretty pink.

November 18th, I enjoyed watching the Carolina Wren and a Dark-eyed Junco from my window.

November 19th a Dark-eyed Junco

A pretty sky on November 19th

On November 23, the male Downy Woodpecker was seen on my deck railing.

November 24th I think this American Robin was trying to eat some of the Pokeberries.

November 24th, my morning bird watching from my window I was able to see the American Robin, a female Downy Woodpecker and some Blue Jays.

November 24th, I enjoyed several Blue Jays on the deck railing.

The waxing crescent moon on November 24th

I am thankful I live in an area where I can see various species of birds visiting my backyard.
I am thankful for my camera (Canon SX40)  with it's awesome optical and digital zoom. It is getting old, I hope it hangs in there.
I am always thankful for your visits and your comments.

Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday

  2. Hello,

Beautiful sunrise! The pink light is so wonderful, and so is Blue Jays. The Downy Woodpecker is very similar to the woodpeceker who lives here.

    Happy Thursday!

I hear you on the SX40; a great bridge camera. Upgrades have something to offer but loss of other features, sigh.

  30. I think the Downy Woodpecker is a pretty bird. We have them in our area too! I was surprised when I first saw one in my yard. Not knowing what it was, I took a picture and looked it up. They move pretty fast sometimes and it's hard to get a photo. The bluebirds are so pretty, aren't they? I get quite a few visits from them until it gets pretty cold, then the lovely Cardinals come out.

Very good pictures, Eileen...nice moon shot! Have a very nice weekend!

  47. What a post, alternating bird shots and sky shots. Such a super sharp photo of the moon. My "old" camera is a SX40 and I don't think anything can beat it for moon shots, plus it is concert legal. My new camera is nice but not as versatile.

  48. wow, that is one gorgeous sky. Love the colors in the first ones.

Loved to see the little wren They have been unseen for a year now :( I hope ot will be better next year.

I would like to get a good shot of a woodpecker soon but they always hide behind the treetrunks :(

  52. Hi there, Beautiful THANKFUL post... Love the sky colors in that first picture collage...

We have almost the same birds as you do --except that I have never seen a Junco at our feeders EXCEPT when we have snow... Then they will visit!!!!!

We do have a ROBIN --a bit fat one who comes back to the feeders every winter... He probably would prefer the mealworms which I have for the Bluebirds --but he's too big to get into the little dome feeder... ha

    Merry Christmas.
    Hugs,
    Betsy
