Green Cay Nature Center

Happy Monday!

I have heard about the Green Cay Nature Center and boardwalk being a great place for seeing the birds up close. Hubby and I visited twice during our recent trip to Florida. The Nature Center looks over 100 acres of wetland and has 1.5 miles of elevated boardwalk.

The Painted Bunting is one of my all time favorite Florida birds, they are beautiful.

While walking on the Green Cay boardwalk you will see birds any direction you look. If you are a birder or not, this is a great place to visit.  The Glossy Ibis posed nicely for me.

We saw a few Green Heron, some times 2-3 rather close to each other.

I love the fluffy look on this Anhinga.

This is the Purple Gallinule, easily to id by the blue spot above the red and yellow bill.

Some Green Cay waders we saw on the top row, Cattle Egret, Great Egret, Tricolored Heron. Bottom row the Little Blue Heron, Green Heron and the Great Blue Heron.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Thanks to Angie the host of  Mosaic Monday

We absolutely loved our visit to Green Cay a couple of years ago. We went later in the season, obviously early would be great too. I would LOVE to back to Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for sharing the beauty.

Gorgeous! I really like the painted hunting too. We don't have them here yet...another couple weeks. The female is just as oretty...all a bright green.

My favorite today is the glossy ibis!

Feliz lunes

The birds from the second photo also delight me. The others are also beautiful, and I love the ibis for its downward curved beak. Best wishes and have a nice week.

Holy cow look at the beak on the Ibis. The painted bunting has got to be one of the most colorful birds, looks like it was playing paintball.

What a wonderful looking nature center! Florida really does have the best birds of all the states. The painted bunting is gorgeous. I never saw one in person and enjoyed your photos of it, Eileen.

The painted bunting almost looks like something a kindergartner would color...they just don't look real. I am with you in that I so love them. I would love this place...

Eileen - truly a birder's paradise. In the second mosaic, I chuckled to see the Painted Bunting peeking around the bird feeder. Adorable. Thanks for sharing the abundance of bird life with Mosaic Monday readers, especially those of us still in the throes of winter!

Oh that looks like a wonderful place to walk and observe the glories of God's creation. I'd love to see a painted bunting in person, so to speak. And I'd love to walk that boardwalk all the way to the end and back!!

Green Cay looks my sort of place Eileen. I can imagine that as you say, it isn't essential to be a birder to enjoy the surroundings. Love the painted bunting pictures, the herons too. Hope your snow stops soon; we are in for more tomorrow.

It is beautiful! The painted buntings are adorable, mind you, our critters are so dull, for the most part, at this time of year.
