Saturday's Critters #283

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I am sharing two of my favorite birds, the Pileated Woodpecker and the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a migrant bird, I usually see them just for a few days in early May. The male is a gorgeous bird with the pretty rose-colored breast.

I have been noticing the Pileated Woodpecker has found a few spots on my side yard they like to peck at. On 5/4 I heard their loud call outside my bedroom window. I looked out and was surprised to see 3 Pileated Woodpeckers in a tree right outside the window. Two of them flew to a tree stump hubby put near the garden. It was a treat to see 3 Pileated Woodpeckers together in my yard.

The Pileated Woodpeckers were moving around on this tree, it was hard trying to get a clear shot through the window while they were moving.

They were moving around on this tree stump too, their head pecking away looking for bugs.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

I have never seen a grosbeak but I saw that woodpecker today. Wish I could have gotten a photo of it. These photos are great!

Beautiful birds. The red is bright and attractive.

I love the Pileated and how great that you got to see at one time. We have the Black Headed and the Evening Grosbeaks but not the beautiful Rose-breasted one--I wish we did.
Thank you

Trevlig helg!

Good morning Eileen. I agree with you, the Rose -breasted Grosbeak is a quite beautiful bird, the male especially so. I regret that I have never seen the Pileated Woodpecker, just the holes it makes!

Thanks for link today and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

the grosbeak is such a pretty bird, i have never seen one at my feeders. you are lucky to see it as it migrates, that's a short window of opportunity! the woodpeckers are gorgeous as well, how lucky you are to have three, maybe more! beautiful pictures today, i certainly understand the frustration that comes with trying to get the best picture you can. my trees are full of leaves right now, i love the leaves but they make it so difficult to get good pictures!!

have a great weekend eileen, and many thanks for hosting!!

the grosbeak is absolutely beautiful. both birds are my favorite color scheme, black and white with pops of red. both are eye popping. I am not very fond of the wood pecker though.

Those grosbeaks are gorgeous! Wow. And how wonderful to have three pileateds in your yard.... I chase them and the red headeds around trees alll the time (not really, just with my camera) ... I have taken a lot of pictures of tree bark, where the woodpecker used to be before he circled the tree just as I snapped the picture. You had much better luck (and skill). Thank you for hosting!

Eileen - grosbeaks are definitely some of my favorites - whether the evening or the rose-breasted, the males are handsome birds indeed. Of course, only to be outdone by not one, not two but THREE pileated! I have seen many, but I am still shocked by their size! Have a wonderful week!
