Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I am sharing two of my favorite birds, the Pileated Woodpecker and the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a migrant bird, I usually see them just for a few days in early May. The male is a gorgeous bird with the pretty rose-colored breast.
They were moving around on this tree stump too, their head pecking away looking for bugs.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;

I have been noticing the Pileated Woodpecker has found a few spots on my side yard they like to peck at. On 5/4 I heard their loud call outside my bedroom window. I looked out and was surprised to see 3 Pileated Woodpeckers in a tree right outside the window. Two of them flew to a tree stump hubby put near the garden. It was a treat to see 3 Pileated Woodpeckers together in my yard.
The Pileated Woodpeckers were moving around on this tree, it was hard trying to get a clear shot through the window while they were moving.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak is very pretty.
I have never seen a grosbeak but I saw that woodpecker today. Wish I could have gotten a photo of it. These photos are great!
Beautiful birds. The red is bright and attractive.
I love the Pileated and how great that you got to see at one time. We have the Black Headed and the Evening Grosbeaks but not the beautiful Rose-breasted one--I wish we did.
Thank you

Trevlig helg!

Nice birds this morning! During my brief stay in Illinois I only saw one Rose-breasted Grosbeak and it was a female. Thanks for capturing these for me!

You certainly had more Grosbeaks than we did! How fortunate to have Pileated Woodpeckers!
Love all the red accents this week. We are hoping the Grosbeaks come back this year. They stuck around last year. Happy Day.
Good morning Eileen. I agree with you, the Rose -breasted Grosbeak is a quite beautiful bird, the male especially so. I regret that I have never seen the Pileated Woodpecker, just the holes it makes!
Thanks for link today and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Wonderful shots, Eileen! The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks are marvellous!
The Grosbeak is gorgeous! What beautiful colors! And how neat to see the big woodpeckers. They are huge up close, aren't they? Happy Saturday!
PS: Thank you for hosting, Eileen!
Dearest Eileen; What a colorful and beautiful bird with pretty rose-colored breast the Rose -breasted Grosbeak is ♡♡♡
Looking at you with keen eyes ;-) I also enjoyed the way you arranged them.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and Thank you very much for introducing rare bird (for me) and hosting♪
Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, Miyako*
the grosbeak is such a pretty bird, i have never seen one at my feeders. you are lucky to see it as it migrates, that's a short window of opportunity! the woodpeckers are gorgeous as well, how lucky you are to have three, maybe more! beautiful pictures today, i certainly understand the frustration that comes with trying to get the best picture you can. my trees are full of leaves right now, i love the leaves but they make it so difficult to get good pictures!!
have a great weekend eileen, and many thanks for hosting!!
I can't help thinking of the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker when I see the birds in the last few photos, Eileen :-)
What a real treat, all those Pileated Woodpeckers at one time! I dare say they were family somehow. Have a great weekend, Eileen!
Three Pileated Woodpeckers - WOW!
Great photos of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak!
Have a wonderful weekend!
the grosbeak is absolutely beautiful. both birds are my favorite color scheme, black and white with pops of red. both are eye popping. I am not very fond of the wood pecker though.
I don't think I have ever seen that white, red, and black before!
Those are two very pretty birds.
Aloha Dear 😘, and thank you
My favourite is the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, you make them so called artist of photos. Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Eileen, A good Saturday morning to you. What a neat post today! The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a very pretty bird. And the Woodpecker ... it almost looks like a red hat they are wearing. Enjoyed all the photos. Thank you for sharing and hosting Saturday's Critters. Have a happy day and rest of the weekend. John
Gorgeous birds in your garden Eileen. Thanks for hosting
A Rose-breasted Grosbeak is always an exciting bird to have visit your feeders.
I would love to see a rose-breasted grosbeak in my garden! Alas, just the usual crowd!
Happy weekend!
I used to see rose-breasted grosbeaks but haven't seen one for 30 or more years.
Wonderful shots!
That is amazing to have 3 Pileated woodpeckers on one tree. You live in a perfect birding location, Eileen!
The Grosbeak is a beautiful bird. Such great pictures too. Have a great weekend Eileen.
Very nice. I love the 3 woodpeckers !
Stunning birds!
I love the unmistakable sound of a wood packer when I hear one getting busy in our trees.
The Grosbeak sure is pretty with that spot of red.
Wow, oh, Wow! Seeing three Pileated woodpeckers must be a record. I don't even know if I have ever seen two at the same spot. The RBG (Rose Breasted Grosbeak) is really beautiful!
Fantastic shots of the Grosbeak! And 2 Pileated also--double the fun!
How cool to have three pileated woodpeckers in your yard!
Your Rose-breasted Grosbeak is spectacular. I don't recall having seen one. We do have occasional visits from pileated woodpeckers.
Hello Eileen! Wonderful photos. I like woodpeckers. The Rose-breasted Grosbeak looks so beautiful. Thank you for hosting Saturday's Critters. Have a lovely sunday.
Awesome! Y'know? I haven't seen ONE grosbeak this season...there are usually a few. Great images showing off the beautiful red breast. Thank you for linking in this week at I'd Rather B Birdin'.
Your Rose Breasted Grosbeak photos are so much nicer than mine. Aren't they gorgeous to spy!Love seeing all these reds.
Beautiful and colorful feathered friends and magnificent photos!

Those grosbeaks are gorgeous! Wow. And how wonderful to have three pileateds in your yard.... I chase them and the red headeds around trees alll the time (not really, just with my camera) ... I have taken a lot of pictures of tree bark, where the woodpecker used to be before he circled the tree just as I snapped the picture. You had much better luck (and skill). Thank you for hosting!
Love that Rose breasted grosbeak! Woody Woodpecker is pretty cool, too! :)
WOW! First the pix of the Rose Breasted Grosbeak...outstanding but to see more than one Pileated is AWESOME!!!
Enjoy your time off...:)JP
Beautiful birds. So bright!
Rose-breasted Grosbeak is gorgeous! I admire your photography on the birds and looks the woodpecker makes fun in their red clown caps. haha...
Beautifully coloured birds!
Eileen - grosbeaks are definitely some of my favorites - whether the evening or the rose-breasted, the males are handsome birds indeed. Of course, only to be outdone by not one, not two but THREE pileated! I have seen many, but I am still shocked by their size! Have a wonderful week!
Oh wow, great photos of these beautiful birds. It has been a very long time since I saw a Pileated Woodpecker, and I have never seen a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Such a pretty little bird. Thanks for sharing Eileen, enjoy your blog break and have a great Memorial Day weekend :)
I do like the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
Lovely photographs.
Enjoy your blogging break.
All the best Jan
