Happy May to you all! The days and months are flying by, today is our 34th anniversary. Happy Anniversary to my hubby! We have been home from our trip to Arizona for almost a week. I hope to be sharing trip photos soon. Tomorrow will be a busy day with a baby shower for my daughter-in-law. Baby Sophie is due to arrive July 13th.
1. On this day our walk was on the NCR trail in Parkton. We watched a juvenile Bald Eagle land in a tree over the river.
2. A larger look at the juvenile Bald Eagle, it may be a 2nd year Eagle.
3. The Friendly Farms pond, gazebo and lots of Canada Geese and the Gadwalls were still hanging out at the pond.
4. Below a male and female Gadwall.
5. Below a few of my yard birds, 2 Mourning Doves were sitting on the gutter outside my front window. They are shy and decided to only show their backsides.
6. It seems the Blue Jays sit in the nearby trees and wait for me to come outside with the bird food. The Jay below is grabbing as many peanut nuggets it can fit in it's beak.
7. April 2nd, the Dark-eyed Juncos a winter bird. They have not left yet. I am still seeing a few in my yard and on the deck looking for the food.
I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

DeleteHello Eileen :=)
ReplyDeleteThe junior Bald Eagle shots are fantastic, and I enjoyed seeing all the geese and ducks you saw on your walk. Your yard birds are always nice to see. The Blue Jay stuffing his beak and probably his crop too, is exactly what the Eurasian Jay does. The Dark-eyed Junco is a lovely bird, although it is grey, it is still a beautiful visitor to your yard. Many thanks for hosting Eileen,, and congrats on your 34th wedding anniversary.
Have a great weekend
All the best
Sonjia.

Deletei only have a bit of nature here -- next week, more! But it's good to check in with you all. I never would have thought that was a bald eagle-- juveniles have such different coloring.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, a big Happy Anniversary! It sounds like you are good partners in life as well as nature partners! 34 years is great!
Thank you Jeanie, I appreciate the comment and your link. The juveniles eagles do look different than the adults.

DeleteDear Eileen,
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your 34. wedding anniversary! I'm looking forward to your Arizona photos - als you know we also recently spent time in this area. How nice that a new baby is coming into your family - I just became a great aunt for the 7th time (of a little Jonas). Your animal photos are wonderful - I was particularly impressed by the young bald eagle. I didn't know that they were still completely brown even in the second year. The blue jay must have a VERY hungry family to feed ;-)
All the best, Traude
https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2024/05/rostrosen-alltag-nach-der-reise.html
Thank you Traude, for your link and comment. It is wonderful to welcome a new baby into the family. the Juvenile Eagles do not look like an adult until they are five years old. Maybe a long time for a bird. Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.
Deletethe blue jay seems to be a piglet, or a lab retriever in eating habits. ha ha i thought the eagle at the beginning was a hawk. shows how much I retain what i see on line. Have a great time at the baby shower
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra! I think the Jays are pigs, they grab as much food as they can fit into their beaks.
DeleteI am hoping it will not rain for the shower, it is supposed to be outdoors. Take care, enjoy your day!
