Saturday's Critters # 583

Welcome to Saturday's Critters! Hello and Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

This post is a mish mash of images, Miney our dog will appear in more of my critter posts along with my bird and animal photos.

Click on images for better viewing.

1. Jan 18th, was our official adoption date of  Miney. She has been to the vet and is up to date with all her vaccines (most important was the heartworm blood work and the Lymes vaccine) she had a great checkup.

2. Jan 18th, our walk with Miney on the local fire road.

3. Jan 19th, a snowy day I watched the Pileated Woodpecker from the kitchen window. It was back on it's favorite tree across the driveway.

3. Jan 21st, did you know it was squirrel appreciation day.

4. Jan 21st, I enjoy seeing all my yard birds. The Blue Jay perched in a pine tree, the male Cardinal sitting on the fence waiting for some suet nuggets and the male and female White-throated Sparrows were also waiting for the nuggets.  Now, they fly to the deck railing when they see me come outside.

5. A closer look at the Blue Jay, he is hiding behind the tree branch.

6. The pretty male White-throated Sparrow, the yellow lores and white stripes on the head stand out. On the photo below the white patch on the throat is just a little noticeable.

7. The male Cardinal looks so bright and pretty with the snowy background.

8. This photo showed up on my facebook memories, it was from Feb 12 2015.  The Pine Siskins have been missing in action for years, I miss seeing them in my yard.  The Pine Siskins remind me of a female House Finch, they have bold streaking on the breast, notched tail feathers and a yellow streak on the edge of their wings. Have you seen these birds lately?

Bonus: Today is my grandson Wyatt's 4th birthday. We wish him a very happy birthday!

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Dear Eileen,
I am sooo happy that you adopted Miney and that she is doing so well, both health-wise and in terms of her character. She also looks incredibly sweet! I am looking forward to many more photos and descriptions of your life with her.
You always have many nice animal visitors. The Pileated Woodpecker is a great guy, I also noticed him in the previous post, and the female Red-bellied Woodpecker, too. Woodpeckers don't come to our garden at all - but I sometimes see (or hear) them in the nearby forest (mostly great spotted woodpeckers). Your other feathered visitors, including the squirrels, are also cute. It's a shame that the Pine Siskins don't come anymore. We're having a similar experience here with the song thrushes - we had ONE year in particular with a very large number of these birds, but I'm afraid many of them fell victim to the cats in the area (unfortunately they weren't shy enough, and our cat Nina unfortunately caught some too... so she was given a little bell around her neck to warn the birds...) Since then I've hardly seen any song thrushes here...
Yes, you're right, our grandchildren are growing fast - our Jamie turned 3 last November, your Mason turned 3 in January, your Wyatt is now 4 - big boys! Happy birthday to Wyatt!
All the best again and thank you for your nice comment and for hosting! Stay healthy!

I am sure there are lots of reasons why our birds are disappearing, like the cats and lately diseases. The boys are growing up fast, it seems the birthdays are rolling around too quickly. Take care, have a great weekend.

Eileen, first of all, happy birthday to Wyatt! 😊 I remember when you announced his arrival on Saturday’s Critters four years ago. Congrats on your adoption of Miney! She is a sweet looking dog. 😊 I did NOT know about Squirrel Appreciation Day. When watching the squirrels in my neighborhood, it’s easy to see where we got the expression “squirrelly behavior”. 😊 Lots of neat bird photos. I wonder what has happened to the Pine Siskins? Thanks for hosting and sharing and have a happy week ahead! John
