Saturday's Critters # 588

Welcome to Saturday's Critters! Hello and Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Happy Spring everyone!  We are finally seeing our daffodils blooming and here and there we can see buds on the deciduous trees in our area.

Another mish-mash post of various images from February. Included are Miney the dog, my yard birds and I am now including a flashback photo of one of my many favorite birds from my archives.

Click on images for better viewing.

1. Feb 14th, Our Valentine's Day walk with Miney. We walked part, the fire road I call the Pine tree loop.

2. Feb 15th, a few of my back yard birds: the Dark-eyed Junco and the Northern Cardinals.

3. The Carolina Wren is another of my common back yard birds.

4. Feb 15th, Miney waiting patiently for something to happen. A walk or a treat?

5. Feb 16th, I am sharing various Miney images, she is a happy dog.

6. Feb 18th, this Northern Mockingbird is a bully. He/she chases any bird that land on my deck railing on the birdbath.  Other birds are lucky they can grab a suet nugget and fly off before the Mockingbird can chase it.  It will not chase off the squirrels that come and eat the food.

7. Did you know a group of ladybugs is known as a loveliness of ladybugs. Ladybugs are also called Ladybirds. The first I heard of the loveliness of ladybirds was in a book I read recently "All the Colors of the Dark" by Chris Whitaker.

"Life has many little miracles."

Image from Google images.

8. Flashback from a Facebook memory and my archives Feb 2013,  a pretty female cardinal sitting on my bird feeder. Does she look like she is wearing lipstick?

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Hello Eileen,
It's so great that spring has come to your area. It's still very cold here at night, but it's sunny and nice during the day. Minney is so cute, and you're lucky to have her.
Yes, it looks like the female cardinal has put on lipstick!
Take care, and have a nice weekend!

Dear Eileen ♥️
I really enjoyed my visit today!
Glimpse of your walk with miney is amazing.undoubtedly she is a happy pet 😍
I can feel your joy to take care for walks 😊

The birds from your yard are really pretty and wonderful 👌🥰
How lovely they have them around ♥️

Yes the female cardinal seems to have lipstick on her lips 🤗

The book life has many little miracles read by you sounds beautiful and inspiring 👍♥️

Everything we see around or have within is pure miracle indeed but repetition of the observations have reduced their true meaning and value sadly.
Best wishes and love ❤️

Marie Smith said...

The loveliness is such an appropriate term for ladybugs. Miney is a sweet, lucky pup.

Red said...

Blue jays and magpies are the bullies here and chase others away. The little birds wait until the bullies have left.

Before I forget, that’s a great header shot and Miney has such a pretty and expressive face. She is adorable! Loved all the birds and thanks for including that pretty flashback photo, a great idea. Have a wonderful weekend!

Eileen, your current header is perfect featuring Miney with you out on your nature walks. I enjoyed the bird photos. The Northern Mockingbird bully reminds me of some of my hummingbirds and the way they try to take over a feeder. That last pic of the ladybugs fascinates me! Thank you for hosting and sharing! Wishing you and your hubby happy days ahead as we move into Spring. John

LIfe is good with a happy dog around who likes to go on walks. We get a few northern mockingbirds here and they are bullies. The main bully we have are house sparrows. They are very aggressive with almost everybody. We are getting a lot of grackles right now and they are a riot.

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

Hi Eileen! I miss seeing Cardinals as they do not migrate into our area. We do get 80 dufferent types o ladybugs, however, in fact a large colonyies of them can be found in our high country as they settle there during migration. Someday I should do a blog post about them! Have a wonderful week ahead!

Hello Eileen :)
The Carolina Wren is a darling little bird. I rarely see our wrens as they ate very shy. Beautiful photos of the Mockingbirds with their distinctive markings, shame they are bullies, but the Greenfinch here, are also bullies and chase away other small birds.
A loveliness of Ladybugs seems appropriate, as they are very pretty bugs. I had not heard of this before.
A Cardinal wearing lipstick, how vain, :)) as if their natural beauty is not enough,...but it's beak
does look reder than usual must be the light.
Miney has such soft gentle eyes, and I love all the photos. I came here this morning and saw all your photos, but when my family arrive I stopped blogging. Thank you for hosting Eileen and thank you for your generous comments.
All the best
Sonjia.
