Linking up with Skywatch Friday and Good Fences
Last Saturday, hubby and I went on our walk at the Hashawha Nature Center. It is usually a good spot to see the birds. Saturday was a gorgeous spring day for a walk. The sky was blue and it was fairly warm for our outing. There are so many places for a birding walk this time of year. Hubby and I have some favorite spots where we will do repeat walks, this is one of those places.
I heard these American Goldfinches way before I found them in this treetop. The males are sporting their pretty breeding colors.
A scene along our walk..the fence and sky shot. Perfect for the Good Fences meme . Not sure why the fence around the tree? The tree is too big for the deer to eat.
A pretty blue sky and a partial view of the lake and wetlands at the nature center.
The boardwalk near the lake and wetlands.. We saw a lot of turtles, either the Snapping Turtle or the Sliders. I will share on my Saturday Critters post.
Pretty sure this squeaky sounding bird was the Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher.. It would not stay still for even a half of second..
It is a pretty area walking around the lake and the boardwalk.. This shot above also includes a fence for my Good Fences post for Tex's meme..
I hope you enjoyed my post and I hope to see you on Saturday sharing your critters..

Back at home the sunset was pretty in pinks and blues..
The yesterday morning the 21st was close to see the last quarter of the moon called the waning gibbous.

ReplyDeleteAll beautiful shots, Eileen! Love the birds, the sky, the ponds, the gates...
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely places to walk Eileen. I like the regular places as it's possible to really know the regular birds and notice changes that take place on a daily and seasonal basis - Just like you hearing those goldfinches about.
ReplyDeleteThat fence does look rather strange so maybe its just been there a long time from when there was a sapling there?
Enjoy the rest of your week. It will soon be weekend birding.
I am loving the shots of the sky .
ReplyDeleteThat moon shot is amazing !
What a sweet little fence around that tree .

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen I love the boardwalks with fences and those skies are to die for.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Eileen.
ReplyDeleteEspecially the sunset and the moon.
Perfect photographed.
Greetings Irma
Wouldn't that be something if someone put that tree up way back when the deer could have been a danger to the tree? Or it might be there to protect it from someone chopping it down. Making up stories about it is kind of fun too!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great place to take a walk!
ReplyDeleteBoardwalks make getting around wetlands so easy. Beautiful skies, and I always enjoy your moon shots!

ReplyDeleteThere's so much going on at your place! Love the Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. Good catch on your part and I'm glad there's something that has an appetite for those pesky insects. I agree with Pam. That fence probably has special meeting for the person who built it there. Enjoyed the walk along the boardwalk and points beyond.
ReplyDeleteGreat skies and moon shots ~ love the first photo of birds on branches which create a fence like look ~ xoxo
ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol (A Creative Harbor)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful images of birds and fences.
ReplyDeletePretty views and sweet bird photos. Love the old tree and lovely sunset, too. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place! Usually fences like that are to keep horses away from trees, but I guess there aren't any horses around.
ReplyDeleteI love those old fences, we don't have any locally. Great shots and pretty skies.
ReplyDeleteYou had a great nature walk. I'm looking forward to seeing goldfinches when we get back to Oregon enext month! I wonder if they fenced that tree from the deer when it was smaller and just left it there? It makes a very interesting picture in any case.
ReplyDeleteYour skies are always beautiful it seems!
It looks like it was a wonderful day to go for a walk with your husband. I am impressed with the photos you published from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteJM Illinois
You go on some real pretty walks Eileen. All your photos brought a smile. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots. What a nice place for a walk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! Beautiful place to hike. I was thinking maybe the fenced tree is to keep the livestock from hanging out under it. Not sure why that would matter though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic place to walk and enjoy nature! Those sky photos are wonderful. I never tire of a beautiful sky.

I think that, also, I must do a note where to point that "I travelled and saw" Appalachian mountains, some days ago, and, in this very moment, "I was on the boardwalk near the lake and wetlands" at the Hashawha Nature Center! Great, isn't? So fast... with just a click distance...ooo.. and I saw the pink sunset...what lovely and amazing post, again!Alexa T
