Shenandoah National Park

  Shenandoah National Park

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Last weekend, the hubby and I went on a daytrip to Shenandoah National Park.  We wanted to see the fall colors along the Skyline Drive.. We also hiked on the Limberlost trail, Appalachian Trail and a little bit at the Big Meadows..  The mosaics are some of the scenes from our day at the park..

Above the Pileated Woodpecker seen along the Limberlost trail, some sky shots and pretty fall colors..Other birds seen were Dark-eyed Juncos, Eastern Towhees, possible American Redstarts, American Crows, Turkey Vultures, Red-bellied Woodie, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren and the Tufted Titmouse.

The  Limberlost Trail in Shenandoah National Park.

A deer seen on the side of the Skyline Drive..some colors, pretty ferns and turkeyfeather fungi,

The colors seen on the Big Meadow, Shenandoah Nat'l Park..

The views from the Appalachian Trail, colorful fall trees and a view of the Shenandoah Valley.

I hope you enjoyed our day at Shenandoah National Park, we plan on going back soon..The trees should be peaking...

As always I thank you in advance for stopping by and for the nice comments.

I hope you can join in on our at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday

Thanks to Judith our new host of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer.  I wish everyone a happy week ahead!

  2. Hi Eileen, I adore Shenandoah National Park! I haven't been there for what seems like a lifetime but I have very fond memories of hiking and camping there. Truly one of the gifts from heaven! :D
Hope you are having a nice weekend... fall has definitely arrived here in New Hampshire and the brrrr level has been reached at night several times already. What am I talking about... winter in New Hampshire often arrives in November with the first snows... Eeeek! They are predicting another winter like last winter so I'm bracing myself to spend a lot of very cold days in my studio - it's one of the coldest rooms in the house - figures.
Ok, I've babbled on enough... do something fun today and make sure to smile :D
    Hugs,
    Beth P

  35. Hi Eileen,
I've never been to the National Park but it is beautiful from your pictures. I especially like the pic of the park bench with the fall treen behind. I was in caves once a few years ago and loved the caves from underwater rivers. I'm thinking Virginia, I think I got these two spots mixed up. Thanks for all the lovelies

  55. Great pictures. Any day you see a Pileated Woodpecker is a great day. They are fairly common here but for a large, gaudy bird they are hard to find. I see much more evidence of them from their excavations than I do of actual birds.

  62. Oh what a glorious tour - the photos are absolutely amazing. This is one place we wanted to take some extra time and visit when we were in West Virginia in the spring - but we couldn't seem to get that time. But we had a super time visiting with our three year old grandson - who insisted that he was Captain Hook and his mama was Mr. Smee - so delightful. Maybe next time we have more days. Thanks for sharing.
