Shenandoah National Park
I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
Last weekend, the hubby and I went on a daytrip to Shenandoah National Park. We wanted to see the fall colors along the Skyline Drive.. We also hiked on the Limberlost trail, Appalachian Trail and a little bit at the Big Meadows.. The mosaics are some of the scenes from our day at the park..
Above the Pileated Woodpecker seen along the Limberlost trail, some sky shots and pretty fall colors..Other birds seen were Dark-eyed Juncos, Eastern Towhees, possible American Redstarts, American Crows, Turkey Vultures, Red-bellied Woodie, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren and the Tufted Titmouse.
The Limberlost Trail in Shenandoah National Park.
A deer seen on the side of the Skyline Drive..some colors, pretty ferns and turkeyfeather fungi,
The colors seen on the Big Meadow, Shenandoah Nat'l Park..
The views from the Appalachian Trail, colorful fall trees and a view of the Shenandoah Valley.
I hope you enjoyed our day at Shenandoah National Park, we plan on going back soon..The trees should be peaking...
As always I thank you in advance for stopping by and for the nice comments.
I hope you can join in on our at Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

love the bright reds, but those ferns!!!
Hi Eileen, I adore Shenandoah National Park! I haven't been there for what seems like a lifetime but I have very fond memories of hiking and camping there. Truly one of the gifts from heaven! :D
Hope you are having a nice weekend... fall has definitely arrived here in New Hampshire and the brrrr level has been reached at night several times already. What am I talking about... winter in New Hampshire often arrives in November with the first snows... Eeeek! They are predicting another winter like last winter so I'm bracing myself to spend a lot of very cold days in my studio - it's one of the coldest rooms in the house - figures.
Ok, I've babbled on enough... do something fun today and make sure to smile :D
Hugs,
Beth P
Every one is so lovely, but my pick is the Limberlost Trail with a bench seat, those colours, delicate fronds, perfect. Cheers,Jean.
I envy you taht you have so many gorgeous places rather close. You don´t have to travel across the world to find it.
Beautiful national park with so much to see.
Breathtakingly beautiful fall landscapes and views. Natures transformation right now is superb. I just posted some fall landscapes myself and there is nothing like a walk or hike in nature now.

Wow - what fabulous views and colors! I love the red meadow. That bench looks inviting, too.
Love the colors! It must have been really pretty in person.
What wonderful fall colors! I don't get to see them much here in New Zealand since most of the trees are varieties of pine. Gorgeous!!
Such beautiful photos, Eileen. This is just the GREATEST time of year. I love the colors---even the browns.
And Pileateds are so funny and prehistoric looking aren't they? Love the crest!
Oh my goodness what a series of spectacular photos. I couldn't even pick a favorite!!
Hi Eileen! It really is a beautiful place to hike in any season and it looks like you had a perfect day! I was thinking that the fall wasn't going to be that pretty this year, but your photos show that in some places, it is!
We loved driving through the Shenandoah Valley when we lived in VA...such a beautiful scenic area! Although we have tons of ferns around here, their golden color this time of the year are special! A great shot of that Pileated too!!!...:)JP

The whole day sounds great, but those colours on the Big Meadows are amazing!
Hi Eileen,
I've never been to the National Park but it is beautiful from your pictures. I especially like the pic of the park bench with the fall treen behind. I was in caves once a few years ago and loved the caves from underwater rivers. I'm thinking Virginia, I think I got these two spots mixed up. Thanks for all the lovelies
You caught such beauty! Those paths look so inviting; I just want to walk down them.
Beautiful photos from one of my favorite places. So pretty at Big Meadows... I love seeing the ferns as they change colors. NEAT....
Great group of photos...

Stunning shots - such lovely autumn colours.
Those meadow flowers are as bright as that sweet woodpecker's cap! :)
What a beautiful park.
Oh my Eileen this place is gorgeous as are your pictures...I miss our pileateds.
I find this beautiful woodpecker. A woodpecker that we do not know in the Netherlands. You fall impression is fantastic. What a beautiful photos and what an amazing beautiful colors. I'm impressed!
Great pictures. Any day you see a Pileated Woodpecker is a great day. They are fairly common here but for a large, gaudy bird they are hard to find. I see much more evidence of them from their excavations than I do of actual birds.
What a pretty variety of mosaics - no going to try and pick a favorite. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
Oh wow! These are some of the most lovely photos of Shenandoah I've seen in a while! Beautiful shots! Loved this post!

Love that fall color!
Oh what a glorious tour - the photos are absolutely amazing. This is one place we wanted to take some extra time and visit when we were in West Virginia in the spring - but we couldn't seem to get that time. But we had a super time visiting with our three year old grandson - who insisted that he was Captain Hook and his mama was Mr. Smee - so delightful. Maybe next time we have more days. Thanks for sharing.
oohhh Eileen, so much beauty!! The fields of red are just amazing!!
