Saturday's Critter's #48

Saturday's Critter's #48

Happy weekend everyone!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's critters..I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit..

I am taking you all back to Colorado with this post, hubby and I visited the Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR located just northeast of Denver.. I try to make a point in visiting any closeby wildlife refuges during our trips..

I had to laugh at this Great Blue Heron. It was not happy that a Black-billed Magpie joined him on this tree.

This heron seem more at peace on it's own little island in the pond.. I will do another post with more birds seen at this wildlife refuge..

Bison were introduced to the refuge in 2007. We only saw a few bison on the day of our visit.

The wildlife refuge is also known for its Prairie Dogs. This was my first time seeing Prairie Dogs in the wild.. They are cute.

Driving on the wildlife drive we noticed quite a few areas with the Prairie Dogs..

Another critter from the refuge....this is either a Mule Deer or the White-tailed deer. Both deer species are found on the wildlife refuge. I hope you enjoyed my critter post and photos..

Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to  Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

As always I thank you in advance for stopping by and for the nice comments. I am sorry, I am not able to send everyone thank you emails for your comments. Since I am working full time, life  and blogging takes up a lot of time lately.

Thank you for linking up to the critter party. I also appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

  12. I really enjoy your retrospectives on your trip to the Mountain West. It does make me pine a bit for my former home in the mountains of New Mexico.

  13. The heron's antics are hilarious. The prairie dog looks as if it is stlaking and the deer is a cutie. Gorgeous photos.

  14. It's great that you got to visit a wildlife preserve, and share the photos. The bison is so magnificent. I enjoyed my visit to a prairie dog town, and watching their antics. It might not be so much fun in your own backyard.

  15. Is the heron yelling for help? Magpies are quite brave,so it may be enjoying the situation! The Prairie Dogs are sweet and very well camouflaged.
    Lovely photos!

    Happy weekend!

  29. Great photos, Eileen. I have never seen a bison in the wild.

I have seen both mule deer and white-tailed deer, though. I think that is a mule deer, they have much more white fur on their rumps. (You don't see much white on a white tail deer unless it raises its tail and runs away.)

  34. I am a true fan of Prairie Dogs, and so sorry I didn't really capture any photos of them when I was in South Dakota this summer.

  35. I haven't seen bison and prairie dogs like that since I was a little girl, visiting my grandparents when they lived in Oklahoma for a while.

There are some buffalo kind of near us, but I never seem to see them. They're always pretty far back in the pastures. I've always wanted to get a picture of them, especially when the bluebonnets are blooming.
