Saturday's Critters #76
Happy weekend, everyone! Can you believe it is the end of May? It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.
Hubby and I like to take walks along the Susquehanna River trail on this day we saw a lot of Double-crested Cormorants in the river.
Double-crested Cormorants seen in the Susquehanna River.
They must be catching some great fish in this spot.
Also seen on the trail a Mourning Cloak butterfly.
More Cormorants seen from along the river trail.
On the drive home we always pass this Alpaca farm, they are cute critters..I hope you enjoyed my post and critter photos. Have a happy weekend!
Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

Hello,Eileen.
ReplyDeleteYour animals are always amazing. Especially the mourning Cloak butterfly is very beautiful!
Thank you for letting me join you today. It is the second time. Yes, how fast the time is passing. Rainy season in Japan is just around the corner.
Alpacas are good looking, until they are shorn, then looked so skinny and miserable. The ones you have in your photo series are plump, and well covered with their fleeces.
ReplyDeleteI love the mourning cloak and the alpacas. Have a wonderful weekend, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteso sad the Mourning Cloak is injured. But it seem to manage anyway.
ReplyDeleteI discovered that there are an alpacka farm somewhere south of where I live. I saw a sign but did not go that way at the time.
Thanks for hosting.
Hi Eileen, I enjoyed your critter post today, especially the Apalcas. These are critters we don't see here in SA. Thanks for hosting. have a great weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen
ReplyDeleteAlpacas always look so adorable when they've got their full coats.....and so silly when they've been cut.
Hope you have a good weekend
You have some marvellous critter shots there, and some fences thrown in to boot, haha.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, cormorants are hunting for fish.
The Alpacas are really great, just like the butterfly.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Best regards, Irma
I haven't seen any alpacas here in Florida-- it must be too hot. Cormorants are too successful for their own good, as they are being killed by the thousands up north. Thanks for hosting my "critters!"
ReplyDelete...that IS a lot of cormorants!!!
ReplyDelete...lovin' the farm photo too.
So many comorants! I have heard there are too many up here eating the baby salmon fry so they are considering what to do about them. The Alpacas are adorable, so fluffy.
ReplyDeleteThe cormorants and the butterfly are new to me. You have a lovely place to walk and photograph. Cute photo of the alpacas too. I appreciate the opportunity to link up.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen, alpacas are such cute animals. They always look like they are smiling. Maybe one day we can add them to our farm.
ReplyDeleteSempre maravilhas aqui,Eillen! Um lindo dia! bjs, chica
ReplyDeleteHi,Eileen. Nice captures. Cormorants are very popular in our country too. Cormorants which live in river have white color neck part. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Eileen.
ReplyDeleteLove the fluffy alpacas.
ReplyDeleteOur neighbor just described cormorants to the RG this week. They seemed like ducks in trees to her.
Have a good one!
Love the butterfly! Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful critter post! Those Cormorants are awesome, must be celebrating and having a huge party! Love the Alpacas, look at those long legs? What a great shot Eileen of that butterfly, beautiful markings! Love the little blue spots!

Birds, butterfly, and alpaca! Wow, you always share great variety, Eileen.
ReplyDeletethat is a BUNCH of cormorants! holy cow! :)
ReplyDeletei like the alpaca and when bob fishes, land or in a boat, he looks for the birds, that tells him where to find fish...
ReplyDeleteGreat variety, Eileen...my favorite is the butterfly.
ReplyDeleteThere is an alpaca farm near me. I want to visit the farm, but haven't done so yet. We saw cormorants along the Niagara River a week ago. We didn't stop to get any pictures.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! It's so sweet how the cormorants are huddled together, and the Alpacas, and that lovely brick house behind are my favorite of all your beautiful photos today! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, These are some neat critter photos. Thanks for your kind words on my blog. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the details of the butterfly! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the party! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Eileen!
ReplyDeleteLovely birds, butterfly and Alpacas.
Mourning Cloak Butterfly - what a thought-provoking name!
Thanks for hosting.
Have a Beautiful Weekend!
Peace :)
I always enjoy your pictures!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen - thank you for hosting. LOVE all those Cormorants. Lucky you!!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that many cormorants at once! They're hated in the fishing world because of their knack for decimating fish populations. They don't exactly "catch and release"! LOL!
ReplyDeleteNice shots! Hoping to see more butterflies this year.
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThe sight of all these cormarants must be quite something! I bet they make a racket too!!!
I had no idea the Mourning Cloak butterfly could be found on your continent too, here it is found rather in mountainous areas and it is quite rare to see :)
Enjoy your weekend and keep well!
Thanks for hosting. You showed us some beautiful critters, I haven`t seen a mourning cloak yet, Phyllis
ReplyDeleteI like the shot of all of the cormorants lined up on the river rock or tree.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Susquehanna River! I loved living in Pennsylvania and driving back to Wisconsin, crossing the Susquehanna. Sorry I'm late to the party, Eileen. I need to remember to get a post ready for Saturday Critters! Thanks for hosting. :-)
ReplyDeleteanother wonderful group of critters!!!! you know the ride home was my favorite....the alpacas stole the show for me, they will be getting their haircut (sheared) soon!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, Eileen. Looks like that Mourning Cloak has suffered some bird strikes. Amazing how they still manage to get away, isn't it?
ReplyDelete~
Love the cormorants! So many! Pretty little alpacas also, and the butterfly with its damaged wing is still lovely. I never seem to be able to get pictures of butterflies!
ReplyDeleteOi Eileen, o tempo tem passado depressa demais mesmo!
ReplyDeleteLindas imagens, como sempre. Adorei os bichinhos da última foto!
Beijos, ótimo fim de semana.
Great Alpaca scene Eileen . . . wish I had a "critter piece" to link today but I have none.
ReplyDeleteAn "almost" of a Seagull . . . but I wasn't fast enough!
I will have to be on a Critter Hunt this week!
Have a great weekend . . .
Always enjoy your critters. : )
ReplyDeleteMay sure flew by!!
I can't believe all those Double-crested Cormorants Eileen. Such an amazing sight and I can only think there must be very many fish in that river. The Mourning Cloak is a real beauty too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the picture party and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Lots of cormorants! Nice walk and drive ..... Thanks as always!
ReplyDeleteCormorants are amazing and always hang in groups. We have them here too. They usually come in with the Pelicans and then some move on and some stay, but this year they were late and are just beginning to thin out. Here they hang with the Herons and Egrets in their Rookeries. Great shots. Also love your butterfly. I have only seen one of those since we moved here and that was a couple of years ago. They are beautiful. As for the Alpacas, where are their long necks? I guess it gets burried in all of the wool ... Oh my. Adorable though. Thanks, Eileen, for your pictures and for hosting:)

I did enjoy this...for some reason cormorants fascinate me. Maybe because we don't have them around here. We did see one or two at a distance last spring. I think they were passing through.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I am going to join this when I know I have time to visit a few others. Just not fair to join when I I know I am going to be busy. It is bad enough when I think I am going to have time and then don't.
What a lovely butterfly. Great images as always.
ReplyDeleteThat is a huge flock of cormorants. Love the mourning cloak butterfly, hope to see them in our garden this year.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI again see a lot of beautiful animals pass by. I feel sorry for the butterflies in your blog. He misses a whole part of his wing!
Regards, Helma
Gorgeous captures!
ReplyDeleteI like the alpacas - they look as soft as they are!
ReplyDeleteLove that shot of the butterfly!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday Eileen. Lovely photos you've shared. I wish you a very pleasant weekend of photo opportunities :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of critters, Eileen! Like your mourning cloak, so many of the butterflies I'm seeing have torn wings. I think it must be from all the bad weather? Have a great week and thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to see so many Cormorants. Great captures. LOve the poor, tattered butterfly too.

ReplyDeleteIt's always great to see Morning Cloak. In this part of the world it's one of the first butterflies of spring and a joy to behold when it first appears.
