Saturday's Critter's #108
A male Cardinal with a Carolina Chickadee.
Those darn branches keep getting in my way.
The Blue Jays come around for the peanuts I sit out on our deck railing.

My entry below for the letter B.. is too easy I am seeing lots of Birds in my yard.
One of my regular visitors... a Blue Jay.
For the prompt *Outside* I had a sighting of a Cooper's hawk outside my window.
A Cooper's hawk sitting in our weeping cherry tree. Needless to say all my feeder birds disappeared. I hope you enjoyed my yardbirds, what birds are you seeing in your yards?
As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

I am sharing some of my yard birds from this past week. It has been cold outside and I have take all these shots from my dining room window.

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty birds.
ReplyDeleteyou have such lovely birds in your garden I would be very happy if I had. I don´t even have a garden :( I share dogs this week. Not mine of course.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.
You have beautiful visitors!
ReplyDeleteBy the way: here in Germany on this weekend is the "Hour of winter birds". We will go to the cemetery and watching for birds one hour. We will count them and report to the German Nature Conservation.
Only with my small camera I cann not make bird photos...
Have a nice weekend
Hello Eileen, I love your Blue Jays. And the Cooper's Hawk was a great sighting, although other birds are very wary of them. Thanks for hosting. I'm still struggling with my photo uploads (only on Blogger - FB works fine) but have linked what I have here below. Have a great Saturday. Jo
ReplyDeleteYour birds are beautiful !! I love that red creature !!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend :)
Hello Eileen!:) Enjoyed seeing all your yard birds from your dining room window. It's always a treat to see your beautiful Bue Jays, but a special treat today to see the Hawk.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!:)
My favorite backyard birds Eileen. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue jay since we don't get to see them here in South Texas.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a lot of Cardinals around so far this Winter so seeing your shot is nice! That Cooper's Hawk is very handsome too!! Eileen, I love your cluster of red berries in your header...:)JP
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Eileen. Thank you for allowing me to join in again today. Your yard birds are so colourful, the blus of the Blue Jay and the red Cardinal. That is a very good looking Cooper's Hawk, posing so nicely for your picture.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend and week ahead.
B for birds, B for beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese little ones are so lovely. Amazing how they manage to survive the cold. Adore the blue tones of the blue jay.
ReplyDeleteEileen....Is your garden actually the Secret Garden? Is that what brings all of these gorgeous birds to visit. Whatever you are doing is right. You and Brian. You all give us the BEST shots. Love the cardinal and the chickadee, and to have an owl visit you...wow...they are all wonderful captures.Happy Saturday.
ReplyDeleteLove the Hawk photo, I always enjoy seeing them in the back yard.
ReplyDeleteLove your noisy blue jays!
ReplyDeleteLovely bird pics :)
ReplyDelete~ Have a nice weekend ~
I enjoyed your yard birds. I always like to see the pairs of cardinals in our yard, the chickadees and juncos, and even the bully bluejays. Thank you for hosting, Eileen. I hope you have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteOutstanding winter colour in those feathers! YAM xx
Oh, lucky you to have seen a cooper's hawk. I was just looking for one on Thursday where I've seen it before...but no luck! Thanks for hosting this fun meme!
ReplyDeleteI love the Cooper's Hawk, it was superb image.
ReplyDeleteFrom your dining room windows, Eileen?!?!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing shots!
And you have so lucky, for having such beautiful visitors!...
I'm speechless!!! Pure beauty, in every single photo!
Have a great weekend, Eileen!
Kisses
Ana
Really lovely Eileen....I just love those blue jays so I was thrilled to see a pic or two of them and the Cardinal is such a beautiful and colourful little chap too.
ReplyDeleteI just love the array of colours in your birds - lovely to look at.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Have a great weekend
All the best Jan
Pretty birds! I love bird visitors, especially first thing in the morning when I have time to drink my coffee outside and watch them :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing yard where these equally amazing birds come to visit. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteyou are blessed eileen to have such beautiful views outside yours windows. your colorful yard birdies have found the perfect spot to stay and enjoy the love you are providing!!!!
ReplyDeletenow let's just hope that hawk keeps to himself and doesn't stay too long!!!! smart birdies, taking off
Love the jay photos....and we have a Cooper's hawk hanging around as well catching poor unsuspecting birds at feeders. He has been unsuccessful catching them at my one suet feeder and the other suet feeder is caged for protection especially for little birds. Have a fabulous weekend. Going to be 50 and rainy here.
ReplyDeleteJust like the cardinals, the blue jay is a bird I get very thrilled about seeing, Since we don't have those in western Oregon ( they have stellars, scrubs, and gray Jays, but not this one). Beautiful pictures of this gorgeous bird. And the hawk as well, of course very handsome, but they sure can clear the yard of every other bird! As always, thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of these wonderful birds.
Great to see them.
Many greetings,
Marco
number 3 jay pic made me laugh, what an expression and that hawk is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat hawk is a nice sighting..such pretty feathers! Happy Saturday my friend. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteYou live in a beautiful place Eileen! I hope I can find few critters here in my place but because I live near the highway so they don't really stay around.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen, those are some lovely shots from inside even! We are beginning to experience that deep freeze as well! Yesterday I was outside without a coat for a long time! Today, not even for a second! Enjoy your weekend hope it warms up for us all soon!
ReplyDeleteJays definitely love peanuts! Nice shots! Love the Cooper's Hawk! There was a juvenile here the other day.
ReplyDeleteHei Eileen! Lovly pictures! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love these gorgeous and closeup photos, Eileen! Wow!
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the cardinal, blue jay and hawk.
ReplyDeleteMy friends the squirrels don't like it when any kind of hawk comes around. If they just got the mice around my feeders, it would be okay. But for being so beautiful, they're pretty gluttonous. L(
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in. I love all your bird photos, as always. I have that problem with branches whenever I try to photograph the cardinals for some reason. That Cooper's hawk looks quite intimidating.
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely birds - very nice shots!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Eileen
hug Crissi
Hello, you're lucky to take pics of such amazing birds around your house. I'd say WOW!
ReplyDeleteAlways a delight to see all the birds you photograph so well ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fun weekend, ^_^
Super shots from your window Eileen! The Cooper's hawk is a handsome bird! What a piercing stare!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend!
Great shots, but that first one is definitely my favourite. I love cardinals and wish so much that we had them here.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic of the cardinal and the hawk. We don't have cardinals in Oregon so I enjoy seeing other's photos.
ReplyDeleteOh those gorgeous bluejays!!
ReplyDeleteIt is not often that I have seen a Cooper's Hawk up close like in your photo - perfect way to start my day looking at those beautiful birds. I am currently in an urban jungle, temporarily, and don't get to see many a bird.
ReplyDeleteSo, thanks for making my morning great, and for hosting SC!
Have a Beautiful Weekend, Eileen!
Peace :)
The blue jays you have back east are so handsome, I love them.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty the Blue jays are!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
At first I thought the cardinal was my picture but I hadn't made an entry-haha. Then I noticed his buddy---really cute pic. Happy Day.
ReplyDeleteOh great shots this morning. The cardinal and Blue Jay are so pretty. I especially like them because they are birds I see around here.
ReplyDeleteWe actually saw some Bald eagles last Sunday. I only had my phone so we couldn't get a good shot though. I'm carrying my camera from now on!
Thanks for the linky. Have a great party!
They have brilliant colors. Beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteGood Saturday Eileen ;))
Besos.
I can only envy such a little cute birds outside the window. In the beautiful place you have to live close to nature. Regards.
ReplyDeleteI love the hawk with his yellow eyes! Only the Gray Jays are braving the cold to visit me now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird visitors...and great Coopers!
ReplyDeleteLovely birds.. Have a great weekend :-)))
ReplyDeleteLove the blue jay and the hawk! I see hawks along the roads but not so close to my windows.
ReplyDeleteThat's the All-American Greeting Card flock ob birds! Great clarity, and through the window?
ReplyDeleteThese are just stunning, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful birds. I don't get cardinals or blue jays here in Montana so it's a treat to see such pretty pictures.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen! Cardinals and Blue Jays are two of my favourite birds and you have some wonderful shots here. Yes, those darn branches do get in the way, don't they? :) Nice shot of the Cooper's Hawk as well, though I doubt your yardbirds agree with me. Thanks, as always, for your wonderful meme, shared sightings and much appreciated comments!
ReplyDeletebeautiful spots of color. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely birdies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute hawk, anyway!... I'll have to go, soon, to the park if i want to see some birds... but weather is a key element; not sure if it is more like the cold autumn, or a strange winter with snow and rain, in the same week... *-*
ReplyDeleteGreetings, again!
Lovely photos . We pretty much have the same birds here , all though the Pine Siskins and Juncos are taking over our yard this year lol ! The birdies here have to watch out for hawks and feral cats good thing Miggs helps in keeping both away from the little birdies ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteLove the birds in your yard. Blue Jays and Cardinals add such beautiful color to any winter day, but especially a gloomy one.
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Those HAwks have a way of thinning out the population more ways than one...Great shots..Tis the season for taking pictures thru windows..Thanks for sharing..Hope you are having a good weekend..
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and unique photo of the cardinal and chickadee! We also had a hawk around our feeder this week, and unfortunately and sadly "someone" ended up as a meal.
ReplyDeleteI think that the cardinals must be one of my favourite birds (in the category, of those I rarely see!)
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Such beautiful creatures...I always say God was having fun when he made the birds and the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful close up shots - that blue bird has a gorgeous coat.
ReplyDeletePretty birds, the pictures are "E" for 'Excellent'. The Blue Jay is my favorite even though they would pick on my cat back when we had one.
ReplyDelete..
i love the hawk & the chick-a-dee. so cool! i have yet to capture a hawk in my pics taking time. ( :
ReplyDeletehappy weekend!!
Amazing photos! That hawk is actually a Sharp-shinned Hawk; the markings are a lot heavier and the brown on the back has a colder feel to it. You can see a bit of a contrast between the color of the belly markings and the cold brown back. Hope this helps :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cardinal and chickadee together! Great birds of winter. Happy 2016, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThose are some amazing shots! I would have never guessed they are taken through a window! :) The Blue Jay is so beautiful and I always love seeing a hawk.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday, Eileen :)
Lots of hugs to you,
Beate
good morning, eileen. lovely shots. love the blue jays!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos with us.
happy weekend!
How wonderful that you have frequent visitors in your yard!I think I have not seen those beautiful birds in person.
ReplyDeleteHi again Eileen...thank you so much for sharing/adding your post link to I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Eileen. My fave is the red cardinal!
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen; Wow! So fascinated that you had seen a Cooper's hawk outside your window; his/her yellowish eyes, beak and feet are so lovely:-) For me, doesn't look like threatening p:-)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for my belated comment, Dear friend.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Lovely blue jays, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and have a great week!
Beautiful photos! My favorite is the Blue Jay. I see one on our backyard but they're tough to take a photo of.
ReplyDeleteBlue and red birdies, so very festive, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI see the Cardinals much more in the bush in back, but I can't get super sharp pics with my G15 from the 2nd floor window. Nonetheless, I'm glad they love that bush!
~
Thanks, Eileen, I think you might be right. I was just totally blanking on what that bush looks like when blooming.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just looked out the window and there were 6 male cardinals in it, along with some lady friends. They really seem to like those fruits (there aren't many left; I see them looking on the ground for fallen ones, too.)
~
Eileen, Cooper’s Hawk interesting yard bird. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteso so lovely
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Of the birds pictured, the Cooper's Hawk picture is the best. Great shots, all. Have a happy day today and a pleasant coming week!
ReplyDeleteI had no doubt that 'B" would be for bird with you Eileen. :-) Holy smokes, your participants are up in the 70s, that will keep you busy.
ReplyDeletebeautiful birds, it's always a joy to see and hear them
ReplyDeleteThe Cooper Hawk is handsome and has such a friendly face. It has me imagining that he swung by to make friends with the other birds and sighed when they flew away.
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
I would so love to see Cardinals here, Eileen! My jays are Steller's, so darker, the personalities are very similar. Chickadees, Juncos, a few sparrows and towhees, a rare thrush...
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeletefabulous photos of all these wonderful birds. Great !
Best regards, Synnöve
Hi Eileen, you have some beautiful blue jays in your yard!
