Saturday's Critters #110

Saturday's Critters #110

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

They are calling for a big snowstorm (1-2 feet of snow)  this weekend. I am wishing the weathermen are wrong and we do not get as much snow as they are calling for. I am also praying our electric stays on and this storm goes by quickly. I hope everyone in the storms path stays warm and safe!

These are some images from our visit to Assateague Island National Seashore. We saw plenty of birds and the wild ponies.

The cute Yellow-rumped Warblers a winter bird for Assateague were the most common bird we saw. There must have been hundreds of them around the island.

For Teresa's Friday Hunt

I am sharing this photo from our walk at Assateague Island. It is my Favorite photo from the day and I would say this trail is Beautiful. I like how the trail is lined with these bushes, it reminds me of a natural tunnel.

A Great Blue Heron lurking in the grasses.

Some of the wild ponies were right on the road.

The horses were crossing back and forth in front of our car.

For Teresa's Friday Hunt and the word Beautiful....I am sharing one of the BEAUTIFUL wild horses on  Assateague Island.

For Teresa's Friday Hunt and the letter "D" I saw a lot of Ducks, Grebes and Mergansers at Assateague Island, sorry the lighting was not very good for the shot above.

I hope you enjoyed visiting Assateague Island. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

  4. Great post, loved the natural tunnel. Bet it is stunning in the summer as pretty as it is now. Loved your birds and the ponies also. Thank you for hosting Eileen and have a happy and safe weekend. Like you I am hoping it won't be as bad as predicted. It seems to have stopped snowing but know we have to get through tomorrow so here's me keeping my fingers crossed.

  11. Ohhhhhhhhhh, Eileen, LOVE your new template design, AND your new header. So simple and beautiful.

The Y R [myrtle] warbler is darling. A lot of them here in Texas in the winter. And the horses are fantastic.

  17. The trail looks awesome and inviting for a stroll inside the shadow of the bushes! Really beautiful capture on the wild horses and this remind me my visit to Point Calimere (a wildlife scrub forest here) where I found many wild horses along my drive inside.

    Happy Weekend

  30. The 2nd photo is a wonderful looking place Eileen & what a treat to see all the horses. That 1st little bird is just so cute

  31. Such sweet pictures of those critters just peacefully enjoying life - the way we should - without anxiety! But who can be worry-free with the forecast I know is headed your way? I hope you are able to enjoy the good parts of it and keep your electricity!
I like your new white background. I do think it's easier to read, even if less dramatic than before. Both are great because nothing eclipses your lovely photos!

  32. Thanks for joining in Friday's Hunt. I do hope you stay safe with the storm. I love that natural tunnel on the path. The ponies are beautiful. I was there once many years ago, and I would dearly love to come back to the island. I'll have to get my critter post up and linked in later today.

  36. Good Morning Eileen. I really like that canopy of trees shot, what a wonderful place to go hiking. Your critters, are all darling, pretty horses too. I shared a few of the critters in my life, although my blind puppy Allie was not having any part of it today! Enjoy your weekend and hiking about.

  37. Great photo of the blue heron lurking in the grass! Stay warm and safe - hope that big storm misses you!

  38. i love all your photos you have shown us of this island. a place i foul like to visit. horses in the road is like a dream to me.. the little bird sitting sideways made me think of this morning. on the way to walmart, sitting at a light, there were 5 little birds hanging on in the wind that is gusting to 45 today, i don't know how they were hanging on

  39. Eileen, I generally don't give too much thought to the birds, generally they are more trouble (clean-up jobs) and they are worth. But your Yellow-rumped Warbler is a cute friendly and fragile looking bird. Nice, thank you.
All your pictures are beautiful, I suppose the horse ones get my vote. I had thought wild horses were to be found only Out West.
We have the blue herons here, all over the lake we just moved away from. (I hope you don't mind my link, this one bit the dust.)

  43. Just love your Assateague photos! Wonderful always seeing the wild ponies, and the birds are so awesome too. Hope you aren't snowed under! And yes, that the electricity stays on! That is always such a huge concern with these storms. Friends in Mississippi after a hurricane went through had no electricity for over three weeks....fortunately they had a generator! It can be so scary! Take care! Thanks again for the meme!

  44. Eileen, nice photo of the Yellow-rumped Warbler. Thanks for sharing.
