Hello,
It is hard to believe it the middle of August, time is just flying by. It has been hot and humid here in Maryland...feels like FLORIDA... I am sharing some scenes from my backyard, at the lake and the neighborhood. The weather is still summer like, hot and humid.
The Buddleia bushes in our yard are attracting a lot of butterflies. The Tiger Swallowtail is one of the most common butterflies I have been seeing.
The Great Spangled Fritillary is another common butterfly I see in our yard.
One morning, I took a walk to the lake, I saw a couple people kayaking and a few damselflies.
During my walk to the lake and I was seeing and hearing numerous Scarlet Tanagers.
A line up of the damselflies.
A few drive-by neighborhood barns. I am used to see some goats around the flag barn but lately I have not been seeing them. :(
Thanks for visiting and as always thank you for the nice comments. Have a great day and new week ahead!
Here is my list of memes for the week, I hope you can check one or some of these fun memes and the participants post.

ReplyDeleteAnd all your photos are very nice.
So many wonderful sights. I love butterflies and dragonflies.
ReplyDeleteI love the mosaics you used to show off your beautiful photos. And it seems like there are lots of places hotter than Florida right now! But it's humid here and that adds a lot to the feel of it! We went to a State Park yesterday and didn't last long! lol Enjoy your week! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos, Eileen. I especially love the butterflies and the patriotic barn.
ReplyDeletelovely butterflies! The scarlet tanager is beautiful too
ReplyDeleteEileen, love the butterflies, as they are so graceful and intricate in their designs.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteNice butterfly pics!
ReplyDeleteI am WITH YOU on the FLORIDA thing--been saying it for years!! I don't usually wish time would fly, but this hot stuff is wearing on me! My husband just got rid of his boat and got a kayak for fishing, but... it's too hot to go just yet. Lovely pictures as always!
ReplyDeleteIt has been hot and humid here in Maryland...feels like MALAYSIA.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty shots.
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the butterflies are super Eileen! I spent this afternoon chasing them around our buddleia blooms but with little success!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the flag barn!
Have a fun week!
I'm envious of all the critters you see, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. The first one of the butterflies would make lovely pictures on notecards.
ReplyDeleteExquisite nature shots and wonderful presentation of them!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week ~ ^_^
The damselfly wings are so translucent and lovely and make an interesting contrast to the beautiful patterns and colors of the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteIt was great seeing Carol, by the way, she looked to be in excellent health and good spirits. :)
A lovely selection of photo's.
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are the butterflies and you've displayed them so well in the mosaics ... perfect!

I'm envious of the butterflies, lots of white cabbage ones here and that's about it.
ReplyDeleteI love that you know what all the critters are. I am ashamed to say that they are just bugs and birds to me!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I enjoyed all the photos. The butterflies are my favorites and those photos are just exceptional! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a fine week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThe past few days have been really hot and humid. We got some rain this evening, but I'm afraid that's just going to make things more humid tomorrow. Beautiful photos and the lake looks refreshing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've been reading about your East Coast heat, and am happy not to be experiencing it!
ReplyDeleteAlways such wonderful photos ! Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteEileen...Your barns this week are great, but it was your butterflies and your damselflies are what really caught my eyes, These are fabulous captures. That first picture is stunningly beautiful. Have a nice week, Eileen. genie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots from your yard.
ReplyDeleteThat Flag barn is quite amazing! Beautiful catches of the butterflies and damselflies. It's very hot here as well. But not humid. Everything is dry.
ReplyDeletedamselflies? I thought it was dragonflies. Maybe it's similar species . But they do look very pretty
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to live.
ReplyDeleteStunning shots of the beautiful butterflies.
Have a wonderful week :)
A beautiful series of photos!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterflies!
It's been quite a mild winter for us here in NZ so far, we've had a few days of very very cold nights and mornings but overall it's been pretty good, roll on Spring ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly shots are great, the little flies too. I love red birds too.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen! as usual I have enjoyed a walk with you and seeing the beautiful butterfly photos. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Awesome shots. I love seeing butterflies all still like that. but my favorite is the barn flag. Love them.
ReplyDeleteTwo's company, but three's a crowd with those damselflies I think!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Jabiru, Northern Territory, Australia
Such pretty captures ; I especially enjoyed the butterflies as I have seen little aside from the common white ones around here lately.
ReplyDeleteLovely captured around your yard. Good Day.
ReplyDeleteComo sempre, fotos maravilhosas! Um lindo dia, beijos, chica
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to see a red tanager in the wild! Great photos, as usual. And I love your banner! By the way, shrimp bothers my big toe. Gout? Another doctor told dad that gout was aggravated by stress because as he was planning big trips, his gout would act up. A combination of things? Yep. Vegetarian or chicken and fish.
ReplyDeletesuch lovely views... beautiful captures!!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few Great Spangled Fritillaries this year, but none have held still for me.
~
Beautiful Dragonflies and the Scarlet Tanager, what a winner.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen!:) So many beautiful nature shots! I love the view of the lake, the very pretty butterflies, the Scarlet Tanager, and the shots of the dragonflies. I have never seen a barn like that before what a brilliant idea, it is so affective. Have a good week!:)
ReplyDeleteVery neat scenes. I like the Butterflies---haven't seen a whole lot this year but maybe I am not looking in the right places.
ReplyDeleteMB
A wonderful array of beautiful butterflies.
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty even though it's hot! I have a friend who is suffering the humidity in MD Here in the mts of CO, I have a fire in the fireplace!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are lovely, as usual. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
ReplyDeleteI always love your nature shots Eileen. This time i miss the butterflies, as my little time at home during weekends are not even enough for the hoyas. I can only shoot them if they alight on the hoya.
ReplyDeleteIt is still hot in here too. Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Eileen . . .
ReplyDeleteI think everyone has been feeling the HOT!
Beautiful butterflies Eileen & the Scarlet Tanager is a wonderful colour. Great capture of the Damsel Flies
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterflies and landscapes! Enjoy your week Eileen!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots as always Eileen! You get some wonderful butterflies! How lucky to see the Scarlet Tanangers. I once saw one in my yard the day my son was born. I told my husband it must be a sign, and if this is a girl we're having, we'll call her Scarlet! But I couldn't peg that name to my baby boy, could I? That's a very cool flag barn ... goats would really add to it (I love goats and used to own a couple).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week ... feels like the humidity MIGHT be leaving?!
Wendy x
Very nice ! I love your butterfies !
