Male Scarlet Tanager

Scarlet Tanger,click for a larger image. This bird nest in the woods next to my house. The header shot is of the woods and taken during my fireroad walks. In the spring and summer I can see and hear them in the treetops when I take my walks on the fireroads. The male is such a pretty red with black wings.

  1. Hi, The Scarlet Tanagers can be found nesting in the woods next to my house. I love to take walks in the summer and listen to all of them in the trees above my head.
    They are so colorful and usually the male stands out with his bright red color.

  4. A beautiful bird, Eileen! Re:"my post" - When I got out of my car at the park all those ducks and geese ran and flew toward me... That's never happened to me before. I felt bad I didn't have some bread for them.

  10. Oh gorgeous!!!! Lucky, lucky, you....I saw ONE of these my entire life. On a golf course, with no camera. It was a treat...but only for a few seconds.

    Guess that this small bird is able to teach a lot. Brilliant photography indeed, raising high the colour Green, the colour of hope, "running" through his heartblood like red.

  23. Beautiful bird. We have the Western Tanager out here. Yellow body black wings and a rusty red head. Summer colors. the female is very plain. (don't tell her that) I have only seen a few though. MB
